OPERATION NEW DAWN JOINT BASE BALAD, IRAQ

Hotter than a two dollar pistol on the 4th of July!

As the temperature continues to climb into the 120s, the Ghost Riders have stepped up their support of Operation New Dawn and training efforts in preparation for the transition from Iraq into Kuwait. In July, the Distribution Platoon sponsored a Drivers Training Course on the M1070 Heavy Equipment Transport (HET) and the M916 Tractor in an effort to license more of our Soldiers on the units equipment. Sixteen Soldiers passed the test and are now licensed on a truck and trailer with 48 tires; it is bigger than some commercial airplanes.

Our Soldiers teamwork and contributions were clearly evident by the number of FSC Soldiers that earned awards in the month of July. The Ghost Riders were awarded six Army Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, six Certificates of Achievement, 12 Battalion Coins, and six Company Coins. Holy cow!
