SCOPE
The purpose of this Method Statement is to provide a guide for execution of electrical works 11Kv Switch Gear Installation in accordance with the project specification, in compliance to the schedule and safe manner. The application of this method statement is limited to the Installation of 11Kv Switch Gears.

RESPONSIBILITIES

It is overall responsibility of SM/CM to organize resources to perform construction activities as per project specification, in compliance with quality, schedule & safety requirements. It is the responsibility of CM that construction activities are executed according to the relevant project specifications, in compliance with quality, schedule & safety requirements. The relevant Supervisor will ensure that all the installation work is conducted in accordance with this method statement and project specifications The QC Inspector will ensure that all work is executed according to SAT and that requirements of quality dossier are full filled. Safety and Construction activities shall be carried out with the close coordination of client.

PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION

After shifting of Panels inside Sub-station, Rolling Trolleys shall be put at bottom of Panels and push/pull to reach at right location. After that pilot trucks shall be used to put the panel on floor . Wooden planks shall be used below Panels if temporary alignment needed. After putting on floor, Panel shall be moved by hydraulic jacks to install at proper location. If unequal floor level found, extra shims shall be used below panel to make it level. All works shall be carried out as per specification and other approved drawings. Switch boards are inspected for any transit damages before

shifting to the site. Floor and entry for cable shall be checked for correct dimension and finishing as per drawing. Panels are positioned and aligned as per drawings and manufacturers instruction. The complete assembly will be checked to ensure alignment and level after tightening the bolts .

Earth bus bars shall be coupled and tightened to the required torque (40 Nm) as per manufacturers recommendations. The interconnection wiring shall be completed according to wiring diagram. Floor fixing shall be checked for level and locations and fixing points checked against their position in the respective drawings. Bus bar joints for each section shall be done with calibrated torque wrench. Bus bar joints shall be coupled and tightened to the required torque (62 Nm) as per manufacturers recommendations. Bus bar joints shall be properly covered by boot lugs

It will be assured that all materials, Equipments and Testing Instruments are of approved standards and calibrated where applicable . On physical inspection, it will be assured that materials a free of damage re and of correct dimensions. Electrical continuity of insulated conductors will be checked. The inspection and testing shall be carried out as per ITP & SAT. Identification of equipments according to space and standards shall be done.

Proper rigging shall be ensured for shifting and installation of transformers. Placement of Panels on floor to be carried as per drawing considering incoming and outgoing connections. Care shall be taken during installation that no damage to floor insulation epoxy. Panels shall be properly protected from any damage. All inspection for correct installation of Panels should be carried out through checklist. Prohibitory area signs shall be posted outside switch gear room. Fire extinguisher shall be provided while executing the work. Standard hazard warning signs shall be posted at visible space preferably at Panel area entries.

SCAFFOLDING

Tower scaffolding shall be installed for Bus Duct Installation to avoid any damage during construction phase.

Scaffolding shall not be disturbed or altered by any unauthorized persons where alterations are required authorized scaffolders would be contacted who shall carry out the work under competent supervision. Scaffold shall be inspected at weekly intervals by scaffold inspector/coordinator that shall sign and date the Scaftag after each inspection. If there is any doubt about the security of any anchorage, suspension points or ties for a scaffold, e.g., strength of existing buildings/structures, or these under construction, the Clients representative shall be consulted before proceeding with erection.

10. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

During the installation all measures shall be adopted to ensure safe working.

Client site management system shall be implemented Prior to start of job, an HSE (DESCON) person shall deliver the specific safety instruction to the concerned personnel. All personnel involved will use necessary PPE as required. The workers will be made aware of safety requirements related to this activity through daily, weekly and monthly toolbox and safety talks. Safety notice board will be installed. All equipment will be inspected by HSE (DESCON) prior to use. Access and good housekeeping should bemaintained. Fire extinguisher should be available in all working areas. All activities at height should be provided with suitable working platform. Platform should be free from combustibles/flammables. When working on height, proper fall protection mea sure shall be taken. All access ladders and scaffoldings shall be secured and tagged before use. Welding sets should be checked and maintained regularly for wear and tear. Waste Management should be strictly followed to keep the job site neat and clean.
