The iTNC Programming Station Programming, Archiving, Training

Why a programming station? Its well known that it is easy to create part programs on iTNCs at the machine, even while another part is being machined. Nevertheless, it can often happen that short reloading times and other machining tasks hinder any prolonged or concentrated programming work. With the iTNC programming station you now have the capability to program in plain language just as you do at the machine, but away from the noise and distractions of the shop oor. If you already have a CAD workstation, the iTNC programming station can be an excellent complement to it. Creating programs Programming, testing and optimizing your smarT.NC, HEIDENHAIN conversational or ISO programs for the iTNC 530 with the programming station substantially reduces machine idle times. You need not adjust your way of thinkingevery keystroke ts. At the programming station you program on the same keyboard as at the machine. Storing programs Although the iTNC 530 features a hard disk with a generous program memory capacity, you should also back up your programs on an external system. With its RS-232-C and Ethernet interface, the iTNC 530 has everything you need to connect it into your existing network or directly to the programming station. Training with the iTNC programming station Because the iTNC programming station is based on the same software as the iTNC 530, it is ideally suited for apprentice and advanced training. The program is entered on the original iTNC keyboard unit. Even the program verication functions exactly as it does on the machine. This gives the trainee the experience needed to enable him to safely operate the machine later. TNC training in schools Because it can be programmed with smarT.NC, in plain language and in ISO, the iTNC programming station can also be used in schools for TNC programming training.

The Workstation The iTNC programming station software runs on a PC. The programming station is only slightly different from an iTNC built onto a machine tool. The keyboard remains unchanged except that it also includes the soft keys, which are otherwise integrated in the iTNCs visual display unit. You connect the iTNC keyboard to your PCs USB port. The PC screen shows the familiar TNC user interface.

Compatibility The programming modes offer the same features as an iTNC built onto a machine tool, meaning that you create programs with smarT.NC, in HEIDENHAIN conversational format or according to ISO, with graphic support for program input and test run, and with all other eld-proven iTNC functions, such as FK free contour programming. With the programming station you are working with the original iTNC software. This ensures compatibility: Part programs created with the programming station run on any machine tool equipped with the iTNC 530. A prerequisite is that the programming station software be adapted to the machine. You can also use the iTNC programming station for machines with the older TNC controls, provided that you do without features that were not yet available on those TNCs. Software options and FCL functions are fully enabled One special benet: the complete array of software options (such as DXF import) and FCL functions available for the control are fully enabled on the iTNC programming station. This enables users of the licensed or free demo versions (download at www.heidenhain.de/service) to amply test all functions and then decide whether an upgrade on the machine is worthwhile.

Conversational languages You can install the iTNC programming station with several languages and switch among them during operation. All dialogs and soft keys are then displayed in the respective national language.
