C.K. Prahalad -Extract from "Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid" If we stop thinking of the poor as victims or as a burden and start recognizing them as resilient, creative entrepreneurs and value-conscious consumer, a whole new world of opportunity will open up. What is needed is a better approach to help the poor: an approach that involves partnering with them to innovate and achieve sustainable win-win scenarios where the poor are actively engaged and, at the same time, the companies providing products and services to them profit, too. Empowering the Girl Student A great believer in the equality of the sexes and independence of women, Jetking awards a 25 percent fee discount to all girl students, enabling them to carve out a successful career and to lead an independent life. Empowering the Underprivileged Jetking has also been actively involved in spreading computer literacy amongst the masses. The Gordhandas P. Bharwani Computer Centers set up by the company are testimony to this effort. These centers provide computer training to students who come from underprivileged families and cannot afford the same. Jetking's six operational centers impart computer literacy to these youngsters at a minimal fee of Rs.100/-per month. Each center has six computers and 12 students get trained in batches of 2 for an hour each day. In a day six slots are operational. Thus 432 students get trained in computer usage daily. LETTER OF APPRECIATION FROM THE RURAL HOMOEOPATHIC HOSPITAL

Dear

Mr.Bharwani,

We are happy to inform you that the 30 computers donated by Jetking to Dr ML Dhawale Memorial Trust have proved extremely useful for clinical, academic as well as administrative activities being carried out at Rural Homoeopathic Hospital, Palghar. We have set up the Gordhandas P Bharwani Computer department with the help of these computers. We have installed 4 different homoeopathic softwares in our OPDS (HOMPATH, CARA, Radar & Organon'96). This allows quick referencing of Homoeopathic repertoires and shortens time taken for prescriptions.

Employability is equal to soft skills. Even engineers and graduates from IIMs require soft skills.

Having knowledge is no longer sufficient. You need to be employable. In a survey of organizations operating in various verticals, it was found that the youth today is not employable. They do not have the requisite skills (both technical as well as soft) to perform on the job. To become employable, you need to have adequate skills (hands on experience) coupled with soft skills which includes communication skills and a professional attitude. At Jetking we follow a whole person approach to transform a student into an industry ready professional. Our unique SmartLab plus process ensures that a Jetking student becomes an in demand professional. We not only skill our students with latest technologies, we also develop

their all-round personality with our English Speaking and Personality development modules and their spiritual quotient through regular practice of yoga. We believe in the E3 formula. Education = Employability = Employment. It is our endeavor to ensure that every student who enrolls at Jetking becomes employable and is able to secure employment with ease. This formula has encouraged us to look beyond Computer Hardware and Networking. We are now diversifying to the K-12 sector and even to college education to bring the benefit of our E3 formula to the masses. With technology becoming all pervasive, we are also looking to convert a device as simple as a mobile phone into an effective learning device. We have already started word per day SMS to our students. Soon, we will be transforming this communication device into a powerful learning tool. This will help our students to truly learn anywhere, any time.

Jetking trains young minds to achieve success and empowers its students to lead independent lives by offering them an opportunity for a successful career. Jetkings students comprise of a large mix of different cultures and backgrounds where every student is a success story waiting to happen. Jetkings Hardware and networking courses training is student centric. When I further go on to do, I acquire knowledge and skill. This methodology incorporates modern technology training coupled with ancient Indian art well being practiced through Yoga. The Smartlab Plus teaching methodology prepares students for the job market. Right from communication skills for successful interviews to personal presentation and workplace etiquette, the students are trained to interact with managers at every level with confidence and clarity. students are trained to interact with managers at every level with confidence and clarity.

PARTNERSHIPS
JET KING has always prided itself on its partnership engagements. Partner models are also evolving in the technology industry. Innovation has extended into the ecosystem and community based engagements are coming into play. JET KING has also enhanced its relationships with partners and is creating a variety of innovative partnership models, with various approaches to risk-reward sharing. Some of the notable partnerengagements:

MARKET MIX OF SERVICE MARKETING

Product
The product is the physical product or service offered to the consumer. In the case of physical products, it also refers to any services or conveniences that are part of the offering Product decisions include aspects such as function, appearance, packaging, service, warranty, etc.

Price
Pricing decisions should take into account profit margins and the probable pricing response of competitors. Pricing includes not only the list price, but also discounts, financing, and other options such as leasing.

Place
Place (or placement) decisions are those associated with channels of distribution that serve as the means for getting the product to the target customers. The distribution system performs transactional, logistical, and facilitating functions. Distribution decisions include market coverage, channel member selection, logistics, and levels of service.

Promotion
Promotion decisions are those related to communicating and selling to potential consumers. Since these costs can be large in proportion to the product price, a break-even analysis should be performed when making promotion decisions. It is useful to know the value of a customer in order to determine whether additional customers are worth the cost of acquiring them. Promotion decisions involve advertising, public relations, media types, etc

People
An essential ingredient to any service provision is the use of appropriate staff and people. Recruiting the right staff and training them appropriately in the delivery of their service is essential if the organization wants to obtain a form of competitive advantage. Consumers make judgments and deliver perceptions of the service based on the employees they interact with. Staff should have the appropriate interpersonal skills, aptitude, and service knowledge to provide the service that consumers are paying for. Many British organizations aim to apply for the Investors In People accreditation, which tells consumers that staff are taken care of by the company and they are trained to certain standards.

Process

Refers to the systems used to assist the organization in delivering the service. Imagine you walk into Burger King and you order a Whopper Meal and you get it delivered within 2 minutes. What was the process that allowed you to obtain an efficient service delivery? Banks that send out Credit Cards automatically when their customers old one has expired again require an efficient process to identify expiry dates and renewal. An efficient service that replaces old credit cards will foster consumer loyalty and confidence in the company.

Physical Evidence
Where is the service being delivered? Physical Evidence is the element of the service mix which allows the consumer again to make judgments on the organization. If you walk into a restaurant your expectations are of a clean, friendly environment. On an aircraft if you travel first class you expect enough room to be able to lay down! Physical evidence is an essential ingredient of the service mix, consumers will make perceptions based on their sight of the service provision which will have an impact on the organizations perceptual plan of the service.

National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT)

National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT) was instituted in the year 2004. Since then it has been organized five times. NITAT is aimed at enabling graduates and students pursuing their studies in engineering, arts, commerce, science and other streams to gauge their aptitude for a career in IT sector. The nationwide test is held across the country. The idea is to identify technology talent pool for the manpower starved IT industry, give them an opportunity to prepare themselves for the IT industry and eventually provide this talent to the industry. Over 2 lakh students have benefited from NITAT in the last 6 years.

Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships

NIIT focuses on promoting itself by advertising using a variety of media like television, radio, newspaper and magazines. Advertisement of the programs like GNIIT and others programs provided by the institute in newspaper, magazine, and radio are the main source of marketing which is done by NIIT.

JET KING :
Database collection:
The first and the primary strategy on which JET KING focuses on is database collection of the students who have given their exams of XII, or pursuing their studies, so that these potential customers can be converted into actual customers. And also along with database collection these people are made aware about JET KING and its products.

Conduction of seminars
It is generally a form of academic instruction offered by JET KING. These seminars are held in schools and colleges. Each and every information regarding JET KING is provided to the students and their queries are addressed on the spot only. This conduction of seminars plays an important role in marketing of JET KING and also positioning the JET KING brand in career development field among the customers. And it also plays an important role in the collection of huge database of the potential students which can be converted to actual customers of JET KING.

Telemarketing
It is one of the important methods of direct marketing in which telemarketer from JET KING solicits to prospective customers to join the training programs provided by them over the phone. It is also one of the most influencing techniques which have a direct impact on the customer as the queries of the customer are sorted out on phone itself and the response of the customer, whether positive or negative, is known at that point only.

Home calls
It is another form of direct marketing where the sales person visit the home of that particular individual to whom they already had a word over the phone. The main purpose of home calls is to bring the family of the student in confidence that the courses provided by JET KING are beneficial and best for the student.

Tie ups with educational institutes

JET KING has been successful in making tie-ups with various educational institutes which acts as a great source of revenue for JET KING. It also plays an important role to increase the goodwill of JET KING as a career development center.

JET KING also promotes itself through television advertisement. The advertising done, however, is for whole JET KING enterprise and not for JET KING as such.

Conduction of Seminars

This academic instruction is also offered by Jetking. Here the potential students are made aware about the programs and its contents. Incase students have any question regarding the program or placement after completing the program, it is answered on the spot only. The conduction of seminar plays an important role in marketing of Jetking and the programs offered by this institute.

Jetking also focuses on advertising its program offerings in diverse media like television, magazine, newspaper and radio. Being an old player in the IT educational sector Jetking hardly focuses on strategies that are followed by JET KING like telemarketing, home calls, database collection etc. for the publicity if its programs. This might be due to the reason that Jetking already has a reputed goodwill in the educational market so students who wish to make a career an computer hardware themselves get attracted to the institute.

Smartlab Plus

Jetking is probably the only institute in India that has developed its own unique methodology that not only has a distinct name Smartlab Plus but also has a very unique foundation. This methodology is the brainchild of its CMD who developed it after attending scores of training oriented courses all over the world and pouring over dozens of books. The big idea was to create a methodology that makes learning easy and retention easier so that even the last benchers could become experts. This methodology takes students from hearing to doing in a step wise process. Also, there is an internal revision that means repeating the same topic again and again ensuring maximum retention. This methodology also has yoga in it which is again unique to Jetking only. Smartlab Plus also has PD sessions in-built.

By these definitions, an example of primary research would be market research conducted into health foods, which is used solely to ascertain the needs/wants of the target market for health foods. Secondary research, again according to the above definition, would be research pertaining to health foods, but used by a firm wishing to develop an unrelated product. Primary research is often expensive to prepare, collect and interpret from data to information. Nonetheless, while secondary research is relatively inexpensive, it often can become outdated and outmoded, given it is used for a purpose other than for which is was intended. Primary research can also be broken down into quantitative research and qualitative research, which as the labels suggest, pertain to numerical and non-numerical research methods, techniques. The appropriateness of each mode of research depends on whether data can be quantified (quantitative research), or whether subjective, non-numeric or abstract concepts are required to be studied (qualitative research). There also exist additional modes of marketing research, which are:

Exploratory research, pertaining to research that investigates an assumption. Descriptive research, which as the label suggests, describes "what is". Predictive research, meaning research conducted to predict a future occurrence. Conclusive research, for the purpose of deriving a conclusion via a research process

The research methodology that I undertook for the purpose of this study is EXPLORATORY RESEARCH. Exploratory research is a primary study of subject matter or investigation of the phenomena. It is not specific in nature but aims at understanding the broad contours of the subject. It is usually preliminary or pilot study and is followed by descriptive, experimental research. It does not have a formal and rigid design and as the research may have a formal and rigid design and as the research may have to change his focus or direction, depending on the availability of new ideas, new hypothesis, increasing the familiarity with the problem, assessing the feasibility of further studies etc.

SAMPLING AND SAMPLING DESIGN SAMPLING:

Sampling can be defined as the selection of some part of an aggregate or totality on the basis of which a judgment or inference about the aggregate or totality is made. In other words it is the process of obtaining information about an entire population by examining only a part of it.

ADVANTAGES
Sampling saves time and money. It is usually less expensive and produces results at faster speed. It provides more accurate information. It enables to estimate the sampling errors and thus assists in obtaining information concerning characteristics of population. It also enables greater speed of collection of data. The ultimate test of sample design is how well it represents the characteristics of the population it purports to represent. In measurement terms the sample must be valid which depends upon

Accuracy It is the degree to which biasness is absent from the sample. Precision It represents how well the sample represents the population in all respect.

SAMPLING DESIGN: A sample design is a definite plan for obtaining a sample from a
given population. It refers to the technique or the procedure that is adopted in selecting the sampling units from which inferences about the population is drawn. Sampling design is determined before the collection of the data.

Steps in developing a Sampling Design:

Type of universe-The first step in developing any sample design is to clearly

define the set of objects, technically called Universe, to be studied.

Sampling Unit-A decision has to be taken concerning a sampling unit before

selecting sample. Sampling unit may be Geographical one such as state, village, district etc Social unit such as family, club etc. Construction unit such a flat, house etc.

Source list-It contains the names of all items of a universe. Size of sample: It refers to the number of items to be selected from the universe to
constitute a sample.

Parameters of interest: Specific population parameters which are of interest

must be considered in determining the sample design

Budgetary constraint Sampling procedure CHARATERISTICS OF A GOOD SAMPLE DESIGN

Sample design must result in a truly representative sample Sample design must be such which results in a small sampling error Must be viable in the context of funds available for research study Must be such that systematic bias can be controlled in a better way Must be such that results of sample study can be applied

TYPES OF SAMPLING Probability Sampling Non-probability Sampling TYPES OF PROBABILITY SAMPLING Simple random sampling Area sampling Systematic sampling Stratified sampling

TYPES OF NON- PROBABILITY SAMPLING Convenience sampling Judgment sampling Quota sampling SAMPLING METHOD: SAMPLE SIZE: SAMPLE AREA: CONVENIENCE SAMPLING 100 RESPONDENTS BAREILLY

DATA COLLECTION
Broadly the data has been collected through: Primary Sources Secondary sources.

Primary data are those which are collected for the first time and thus happen to be original in character. Primary data has been collected through: Questionnaires It is considered as the heart of survey operations and therefore should be very carefully constructed. It consists of a number of questions printed or typed in a definite order which is filled by the respondents on their own. A good questionnaire should be comparatively short and simple and the sequence shall be from easy the difficult ones. Advantages of questionnaires are: They are economical.

They are free from the biasness of the interviewers. Respondents have adequate time to give well thought to their answers. Respondents can be reached conveniently. Large samples can be used and therefore the results are more dependable.

The secondary data are those which have already been collected by someone else & which have already passed through the statistical process. Secondary data has been collected through: Magazines Journals Pamphlets of the companies Websites of the companies

STATISTICAL TOOLS
Statistical techniques are the play an important role in research. There are very few statistical analysis that can be done on nominal data. Almost all descriptive statistics like measures of central tendency. Likert scale is the part of statistical tools & techniques

LIKERT SCALE
Likert scale is a summated scale based on item analysis approach. In this statement is evaluated on its ability to discriminate between respondents with high and low scores. The researcher starts with collecting a large number of statements which are relevant to the survey topic. Each of these statements should be clear and unambiguous with definitive discriminating power. Also such items are not included which are either neutral or extremely worded such that it is sure that nearly everybody will respond to them similarly. After the statement are collected and compiled they are administered to a sample of subject who are taken from the target population.
Strongly Agree Agree Undecided Disagree Strongly Disagree

Advantage of Likert Scale

It is simpler and easier to construct.

Consequently the time and cost involved in constructing this scale is also less. Likert scale by having clear categories of response eliminates ambiguity arising from respondents answering like sort of agree. It is more comprehensive because it includes statements that may not be directly.

HYPOTHESIS TESTING
MEANING:
The chi-square test is one of the most simplest and widely used non-parametric test in statistical work. The symbol is Greek letter chi. It was first used by Karl Pearsons in the year 1990. the quantity chi-square describes the magnitude of the discrepancy between theory and observation. A statement that explains or makes generalizations about a set of facts or principles, usually forming a basis for possible experiments to confirm its viability. Hypothesis is an assumption made about a population parameter. This hypothesis is then proved or disproved by using the information from the sample to decide the likelihood of the hypothesized population parameter to be correct or not. It is a screening exercise. Hypothesis is a predictive statement that relates independent variable to a dependent variable and this is open to testing.

FEATURES:
A hypothesis must be valid. It must be closely related to the phenomena it is trying to explain. A hypothesis should be clearly and precisely stated. There should be no ambiguity in the hypothesis. Hypothesis has a doubtful aspect associated with it. there is always a doubt associated about whether the hypothesis is correct or not and it is this doubt which is to be tested. A hypothesis is a transitory phase of a research process since it is provisional. It is yet to be proved that the hypothesis is correct and it can be stated as a scientific fact or it is incorrect and hence it is to be dropped.

A good hypothesis is accessible to all.it should be understood by other researchers equally and unequivocally.

A hypothesis should have empirical reference. It should explain clearly what it claim to explain.

Chi-square= And

(O-E)2 /E

Where O=observed frequency E=expected frequency

Degree of freedom:
While comparing the calculated value of chi square with the table value, we have to determine the degree of freedom. By degree of freedom we mean the number of classes to which the values can be assigned arbitrary or will without violating the restriction or limitations placed.

CHI SQUARE TEST

The origin of chi square test is from Greek letter chi this test was first used by the Karl Pearson and is one of the most widely used test today. Through the chi square test we are able to determine the extent of difference between the theory if expected value and observed or the actual value OBSERVED VALUE 60 45 (O-E)2 E Significance level 5% EXPECTED VALUE 52.5 52.5 (O-E) 7.5 -7.5 (O-E)2 56.25 56.25

= 56.25/52.5 = 1.07 (calculated value)

Degree of freedom 1 Tabulated value = 3.841 As tabulated value is greater than calculated value, so null hypothesis(Ho) is accepted and alternate hypothesis(H1) is rejected. Hence, there is relationship between sale of JET KING Courses and quality of study at JET KING.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

LIMITATION

Carrying the survey was a general learning experience for us but we also faced some problems, which are listed here. The market of JET KING is too vast and it is not possible to cover each and every sector in a short span of time. Generally the respondents were busy in their work and were not interested in responding rightly. Respondents were reluctant to reveal complete and correct information about themselves and their organization. Most of the respondents dont want to disclose the information about the other competitors from where they doing the courses. Due to human behavior information may be biased.

Suggestions
Modifications must be brought about in JET KING, in terms of quality. Company must undertake extensive promotional activities like advertisements must be released in different Medias to create brand awareness. Discounts should be given to the students. Pamphlets should be distributed among the students JET KING should create some factors that the education industry never offers, such as free trial 7 days session of a particular program so that in those days an individual should come to know that whether this program will be beneficial for their career or not. This will definitely create a BRAND DIFFERENTIATION. Promotional activities are very less, therefore they should invest a considerable amount in radio and newspaper advertisement as this is the main source with which youth connect easily. This would definitely help to create and increase BRAND AWARENESS. JET KING should not depend on brand name, brand name is just a source to provide some base customers, and it is the institutes responsibility to generate more customers from existing customers. Evaluate the performance continuously to find the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

According to the survey results, students are not satisfied with infrastructural facilities being provided, so JET KING should make considerable efforts in order to improve upon the same. JET KING should also work proactively in order to enhance the placements prospects of the students, as the survey results indicate lower rating of JET KING as compared to its competitors in terms of placement services. This will increase the trust of the students on JET KING which will also result in gaining goodwill in the market. Semi-urban and rural areas should be tapped as future potential markets JET KING should also work on lowering the attrition rates among its employees.
