1) Errores típicos de gramática

 “A” versus “the” –. El más común de todos es poner the donde no hay que
poner nada. En general, a no ser que lo hayas mencionado previamente o sólo
haya uno, no utilices the. Tampoco se utiliza the antes de sustantivos
abstractos como freedom, generosity, art o nature.

 La “s” de la tercera persona del singular del presente. Llevamos toda la

vida con esto pero sigue habiendo un montón de errores. Es simple: I sing, You
sing, He/She sings.

 Consecutio tempori: es decir, si los tiempos verbales de un texto tienen

sentido.  Si estás contándome tus vacaciones del año pasado, no puedes
empezar a meter presentes por todas partes.

 El orden de las palabras. Principalmente, poner el sujeto detrás del verbo. Ya

sabemos que se dice “the monkey sings” y no “sings the monkey”. Sigue
estando mal poner el verbo antes del sujeto. De la misma manera, el adjetivo
siempre va delante del nombre.

 2) The mark you get for the essay is based on the following four aspects:

-Content: Have you included all the important ideas? Remember, all content
should be 100% relevant to the topic!
-Communicative achievement: Is the style or tone of your essay appropriate?
It should be neutral and quite formal, so avoid contractions (e.g. it’s, don’t, they’ll) and
first person pronouns (e.g. I, me, my, we, us, our).
-Organisation: Does your essay follow a logical order? To help your
writing flow, try to include linking words.
-Language: Have you used a variety of vocabulary and grammatical
structures? Don’t always write the first word that comes to mind – look for synonyms.
Using some complex structures (e.g. different verb tenses, passives, inversion) will
boost your marks, but be sure to use them correctly!
