VERBOS MODALES
Ejemplos:
1.No se permite comer en clase. -He isn´t allowed to eat in the class.
2.Sería mejor que nosotros estuviéramos de vacaciones -We had better be stay on holidays.
3. Asistía a misa todos los fines de semana cuando era pequeño.
-I would go to the church (attend mass) every weekend when I was a little boy.
4. Solía pasar el tiempo jugando. -He used to spend the time playing.
5. Deberías sacarte la muela si te duele. -You should take off the teeth if it hurts you.
6. Podría estar nevando ahora en otro lugar. -It could to be snowing in another place now.
ESTILO INDIRECTO
Hay dos formas de contar lo que una persona dice. Se emplea el estilo directo cuando se
repiten exactamente las mismas palabras que el hablante ha dicho.
Se emplea el estilo indirecto cuando decimos lo mismo sin usar necesariamente las mismas
palabras del hablante. Aquí el THAT puede ser omitido. Normalmente se usa cuando la
conversación se ha verbalmente.

Para pasar de un estilo a otro hay que realizar una serie de cambios de diferentes tipos:
-Cambios de tiempo:

1. Podría estar esperando el autobús, pero hace frío.

2. ¿Se les permite abandonar el país con tanto dinero?

3. Deben sacar una buena nota si quieren estudiar en el extranjero.
The must to get a good mark if they want study abroad.
4. Limpiaba su cuarto todos los días cuando era pequeño.
He cleaned his room everyday when he´s a child.
5. Aquel avión puedo haber aterrizado una hora antes, pero no se le permitió hacerlo.

6. Hay mucho tráfico en Lepe. Sólo se permite ir en coche desde las 9 hasta las 5.

7. ¿Puede pasarme la botella de agua, señora Roper?
May you give me the watter bottle, miss Roper?
8. Podría encontrarme con ella, pero creo que no es posible porque debe de estar en el
extranjero.
I could meet her, but I think it isn´t possible because she must be abroad.
9. ¿Se me permite fumar en este lugar?
Am I Allowed to smoke in this place?
10. Sería mejor que todos nosotros permaneciéramos en casa a causa del mal tiempo.
Wed had better stay at home because of bad weather.
11. ¿Puedo decirle una cosa en privado, señor presidente?
Can I say you anything in private, sir president?
12. Ella pudo obtener el trabajo gracias a la ayuda de alguien.
She could get the job thank to someone´s help.
13. Pudo haber muerto pero ya se ha recuperado de su enfermedad.
He could be die, but he has recovered of his ailment.
14. Solían ser muy tercos cuando se enfadaban.
They used to be more stubborn when they got angry.
SUBORDINATED
1st Type: Present (simple)-----Future (simple). If I miss the bus I will take a taxi.
2nd Type: Past (simple)------Conditional (simple). If it rained I would take the umbrella.
3rd Type: Past perfect--Pres. Pref. Conditional. If I had eaten a lot I would have got fat.

VERBOS
La forma en -ing
-Se puede emplear esta forma como sujeto de la oración: "Smoking is bad for the health".
-Detrás de las proposiciones: "I´m dreaming of travelling to France".
-Detrás de los siguientes verbos:
-admit (admitir) -avoid (evitar) -dislike -enjoy -fancy (apetecer, disfrutar)
-finish -imagine (imaginar) -mind (importar) -stop
-can´t stand (no poder aguantar) -can´t help (no poder evitar)
Se pueden emplear go y come para hablar de deportes y actividades de diversión:
"I like go climbing".
Infinitivo con TO
-Detrás de los siguientes verbos:
-afford (permitir) -agree (estar de acuerdo) -ask -decide -expect (esperar) -help -hope
-happen -learn -manage (arreglárselas) -offer -prepare -promise -refuse (rehusar/negar)
-seem (parecer físicamente) -want -appear (parecer/ aparecer) -try (intentar)
Infinitivo sin TO
-Detrás de los verbos modales (can, must, could, may, might, should...):
"I must my work everyday".
-Detrás de make y let. Make tiene sentido de obligación:
Me hace estudiar todos los días. -She makes me study everyday.
Let tiene sentido de permiso:
Sus padres le dejan ir allí. -His parents let him go there.
-Detrás de la forma "let´s", que indica sugerencia o proposición:
Vámonos a la playa. -Let´s go to the beach.
-Detrás de la expresión "would rather" (preferiría):
Preferiría estar en casa. -I would rather stay at home.

-Condicional: I wish it wouldn´t rain down (on me)
-Pasado perfecto: I wish hadn´t gone to England.

CONSTRUCCIÓN DE ADJETIVOS
Para formar los adjetivos en inglés se toma el sustantivo y se le añaden ciertos sufijos. No
existen reglas fijas para formar un adjetivo u otro. Cada adjetivo irá con un determinado
sufijo. Los sufijos más comunes son:
-ous: adventurous, furious, curious
-able: reliable (confiable), reasonable (sensato), sociable, capable, dependable, remarkable
-ible: temible, sensible, horrible, irresponsible, incredible (incrédulo), corregible
-al: practical, criminal, tropical, musical, critical, cultural, rational
-ful: helpful (voluntarioso), useful (útil), careful, harmful (dañino), sucdesful (exitoso,
satisfactorio), forgetful, pitiful (penoso)
-less: careless (descuidado), hopeless (esperado)
-ly: lively (vivo), friendly, daily, monthly, weekly, cowardly (cobarde)
-y: lucky (afortunado), hairy (peludo), handy (mañoso)
-ic: scientific, atomic, aquatic, tragic, athelic, dramatic, electronic, enthusiastic
Generalmente, para formar opuestos de adjetivos se usan los prefijos. Los prefijos se
añadirán al adjetivo (dis- + loyal= disloyal, desleal). Los más importantes son:
dis-: disloyal, illegible
il-: illegal, irregular, irrational
ir-: irresponsible, irregular, irrational
un-: unenthusiastic (desilusionado), unpleasant (desagradable), unhappy (infeliz),
unrealible (desconfiado).

Los tiempos en perfecto pasan a pluscuamperfecto.
-Present perfect-past perfect: "I have go to England", he said- He said he had gone to
England.
-Present perfect continuous-past perfect continuous: "We have been swimming in the
beach"- The said the had been swimming in the beach.
Los tiempos pasados pasan a pluscuamperfecto (past perfect): "I wrote a letter", he said-
He said he had written a letter.
-Future-conditional: "I will go there", he said- He said he would go there.
