Cause
All wheel transmitters are activated (working) All wheel transmitters are NOT activated LF wheel transmitter is NOT activated
Action
None (system OK)
Blinks:
ON 2 sec > OFF 0.2 sec
Blinks 1 time
ON 0.3 sec > OFF 1.3 sec
Activate all wheel transmitters. See Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure on page 4. Activate LF wheel transmitter. See Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure on page 4. Activate RF wheel transmitter. See Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure on page 4. Activate RR wheel transmitter. See Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure on page 4. Activate LR wheel transmitter. See Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure on page 4. Check storage fuse, see Figure 2, page 4. Install or replace (if needed). Check TPMS ECU connector. Re-connect if needed. Perform CONSULT Self Diagnosis:
RF wheel transmitter is NOT activated RR wheel transmitter is NOT activated Blinks 3 times
ON 0.3 sec > OFF 0.3 sec
LR wheel transmitter is NOT activated Long Term Storage Fuse pulled out TPMS ECU connector pulled out Low tire pressure or TPMS system failure
- Press Start - Press Tire Pressure Monitor System MENU select - Press Self Diagnosis MENU select - Press Start See Service Manual
Parking Lights
1. Tool J-45295 battery low. 2. Ignition OFF during activation. 3. Tool J-45295 not positioned correctly. 4. Transmitters already activated
Perform ID Registration if needed 1. Install new battery. 2. Make sure ignition is ON during activation. 3. Position tool correctly during activation (see Figure 4). 4. None.
NOTE: If more than one wheel transmitter is NOT activated, the blinking patterns for those wheels will combine. (Example: one blink/OFF/three blinks = LF and RR transmitters are not activated.)
2/6
CAUTION (for Pathfinder & Murano ONLY): Do NOT remove the Long Term Storage Fuse with the ignition key in the ON position. If the storage fuse is removed with the ignition key ON, the Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation procedure must be done.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: I.D. Registration: This process informs the control unit of each wheel transmitters location (i.e., LF, RF, RR, and LR). Reason: The control unit must know the location of each transmitter in order to correctly relay pressure information about each tire/wheel.
Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation: Turns on (Wakes Up) each wheel transmitter allowing it to send pressure information to the control unit.
The following chart shows some conditions, which may require I.D. Registration and/or Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation.
Condition If a TPMS control unit is replaced Action Perform I.D. Registration using CONSULT-II. See the Service Manual for more information. Perform I.D. Registration using CONSULT-II. See the Service Manual for more information. Perform Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation using Tool #J-45295.
See TPMS Diagnostic Chart (page 2) for details. Note: I.D. Registration cannot be performed when the TPMS warning light is blinking or ON (in some cases). See TPMS Diagnostic Chart.

NOTES: 1) In the case of a low tire pressure condition, the TPMS warning light will come on. To turn the light OFF, do the following: Re-set the tire pressure to the correct setting. Drive the vehicle over 25 MPH for several minutes.
2) The wheel transmitters send updated pressure information to the control unit as follows: Vehicle parked with ignition switch ON Updated pressure information sent every hour. * Vehicle driven over 25 MPH Updated pressure information sent every minute. Vehicle parked with ignition switch OFF No pressure information sent to control unit. CONSULT-II will indicate 0* pressure. To update pressure information quicker, drive the vehicle over 25 MPH for a few minutes.
SERVICE PROCEDURE Wheel Transmitter (Wake Up) Activation Procedure. NOTE: This procedure must be performed using the TPMS Initialization Tool #J-45295.
BEFORE YOU START: IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN PERFROMING THIS ACTIVATION PROCEDURE: Do NOT remove the Long Term Storage Fuse (also known as the Electronic Parts Fuse). Do NOT turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. If you do either of the above, all four wheel transponders will have to be re-activated.
1. Make sure the batteries in the TPMS Initialization Tool #J-45295 are in good, strong condition. If needed, use a tester to check battery condition.
4/6
2. Confirm the Long Term Storage Fuse is installed in the vehicles fuse panel (see Figure 2).

Figure 4 5. Press the button on the TPMS Initialization Tool and hold the tool in position until the vehicle parking lights flash twice. This could take up to 15 seconds. The flashes confirm the wheel transmitter (the one you are working on) is activated.
6. Perform step 5 on the remaining wheel transmitters in the order shown in Figure 3. 7. Confirm the TPMS warning light turns OFF after the last wheel transmitter is activated. 8. Turn the ignition key OFF, then ON and confirm the TPMS Warning Light does the following: Comes ON for 1 second, then Turns OFF and stays OFF.
