Essay IOrganizing Ideas

To generate ideas if we have a topic but nothing to say about it:1- We must our self some questions and answer them. 2- Write the questions down in whatever order 3- During essay writing , rearrange the answers with the reader in your mind 4- The rearrangement should be very clear i.e. it should make sense to someone who is not inside your head.

It should be emphatic ( )so, it will like the arrangement of note cards or to writing out line after the shape of the our ideas has become visible to us.

6- Know us having the ideas but we like to express.

The solution may be either to start writing or to ask more questions and answer them.

8- At least we will have a first draft of an essay.

Define your topic, it may be overview or specific and choosing the potential topic will be based on the number of ideas we have about it

Define the purpose Whatever the topic we choose it must fit the purpose.

III- Outlining
The main purpose of an outlining is to put your ideas about the topic on the paper, in a moderately organized format. Out lining steps:1- Writing the topic at the top of the page.

2- Write the roman numerals I,II and III

Write the main ideas about the topic, next each roman numerals:a-

If we are trying to persuade ( )you should write your best arguments. () If you are trying to explain a process we want to write the steps that should be followed and we will probably need to group these into categories and we can use beginning, middle and end to overcome the grouping troubles.

c- If we are trying to inform, we want to write the major categories into which your information can be divided. 4- Under each Roman numeral, write A, B, and C down the left side of the page. 5- Next to each letter, write the facts or information that supports that main idea. When we have finished, we will have the basic structure for our essay and we will ready to continue.

IV- Compose a Thesis Statement


The thesis statement tells the reader what the easy will be about and what point the author will be making where, thesis statement will have two parts:1- States the topic 2- States the point of the essay or simply list the main ideas we will discuss. Once we have formulated a thesis statement in a comfortable way we will ready to continue.

Writing the body paragraphs


In the body of the essay, the topic we have chosen must now be explained, described, or argued. Each main idea that we wrote down in our diagram or outline will become one of the body paragraphs. So, if we have three or four main ideas we will have three or four body paragraphs. Each body paragraph will have the same basic structure:1- We will start writing down one of the main ideas, in a sentence form.

Write down each main idea the supporting points for that idea and leave four or five lines in between to elaborate for that point. Some time we can include a summary sentence for each paragraph but it must used carefully because such sentences have a tendency to sound stilted (.)

VI Write the introduction and the conclusion


Now the essay lacks only two paragraphs, the introduction and the conclusion, where those two paragraphs will give the reader a point of entry to and a point of exit from the essay. Introduction:Should be designed to attract the readers attention and give him an idea of essays focus. So, 1- We will begin with an attention grabber and there are several ideas for attention grabbing like:- Starting information It must be true, verifiable and it does not totally new for the reader. It may followed by one or two sentences for elaboration.

Anecdote ()

It is a story that illustrates a point, it must be short, to the point and relevant to the topic it will be very effective opener for the essay but also it must use carefully. - Dialogue It is not used to identify the speakers, but to leave the reader understanding the point we are trying to convey (.)/ We can use only two or three exchanges between speakers to make the point. Also we can use one or two sentences for elaboration - Summary Information Few sentences explaining the topic in general terms can lead the reader gently to our thesis and we must keep in our mind that each of them must gradually be more specific toward thesis reaching. 2- If the attention grabber was only one or two sentences, add one or two sentences that will lead the reader from our opening to our thesis statement. 3- Finish the paragraph with the thesis statement.
