Make It Fun
Prepare to offer one or more of the following activities as your 2-year-olds arrive. Let one or two teachers lead small groups of children in activities throughout the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. At this age not all children will participate, but most will want to be part of the fun. 1. Water Play What You Need: A tub or container of water, toy boats, toy animals, and towels. What You Do: Place the container of water on a towel. Let children explore and have fun playing with the toys in the water. (Note: Never leave children unattended around water.) What You Say: We are going to hear about a man named Noah and a great, big flood that covered the earth. There was so much water! There was water everywhere Noah looked! Have fun floating the boats in the water. Can you get the animals in the boats? Super! I cant wait to hear what happens in our Bible story today! 2. Rainbow Play What You Need: White Play-Doh or Crayola Model Magic and red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple pipe cleaners. What You Do: Let children make two clouds each out of the white Play-Doh. Then guide kids to stick one end of their pipe cleaners in one cloud and the other end in the other cloud. Talk about the colors they used. What You Say: Look at the Play-Doh. Take some of it and roll it into two balls so they look like clouds. Now, can you make a rainbow? Do you know the colors in a rainbow?

(As you mention each color, take that pipe cleaner and stick the ends in the Play-Doh clouds.) There is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple! Look! You made a rainbow! Look how pretty! God makes the rainbows we see in the sky. In our Bible story today, we'll hear about a rainbow. 3. Pet Parade What You Need: A Hefty Zoo Pals plate for each child, large craft sticks, masking tape, and scissors (optional). What You Do: Let each child pick the animal plate he or she wants. If you choose, cut eyeholes in the plate. Then tape a craft stick on the plate for the child to use as a handle. Let kids parade around the room as the animal on their plates. What You Say: Look at all the animals on these plates! Pick out the animal you like, and I'll tape a craft stick on it for you to use as a handle. Hold up your animals. I see (calling out each animal the children are holding up). Can you make the sound your animal makes? (Pause for responses.) Wow! Those are some great animal sounds! Let's march around and act like the animals youre holding. March, march, march, roar, woof, meow. We are going to hear about Noah, his great, big boat, and all the animals on it. I cannot wait to hear the story! Let's march around some more!

Make It True
After children have participated in Make It Fun, tell the Bible story and then encourage the kids to have fun singing with you. When sharing the Bible story, guide kids to gather around you on the floor. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. Thats OK. Theyre still listening and learning! Bible Story What You Need: A Bible, Noahs Story (from the Activity Pages on the Web site), a large metal ring, a hole punch, white cardstock, and markers (optional). What You Do: Before the activity: Make one copy of Noahs Story on white cardstock. If you choose the black and white version, color the pictures with markers. Hole punch each picture in the top, left corner and place the pictures on a metal ring. During the activity: Invite the children to sit on the floor with you. As they join you, greet them by name. STORYTELLER: I am so happy to see you. Come sit with me. I have a very special story to tell you. It comes from the Bible. (Open the Bible and lay it in front of you. Pick up Noahs Story and hold it so the kids can see the pictures.) Once there was a man named Noah. Can you say, Hi, Noah? (Pause for kids to do so, and then move on to the second picture.) Noah was on a boat called an ark with a lot of animals for a very, very, VERY long time. This is Noah, and these are the animals. (Picture 3) One day God told Noah it was time to get off the boat. Noah and the animals were so happy! (Clap.) Hooray! Hooray! (Picture 4) God promised to never flood the earth again. Then, God made a rainbow in the sky so everyone would remember His promise. See the pretty rainbow? God keeps His promises because He loves you and me. Who loves me? [Bottom Line] God loves me! Who loves me? [Bottom Line] God loves me! Make It Stick
Choose two or more of the following activities to help make the Bottom Line stick. Lead the activities with small groups of children. Encourage children to play on their own if they do not wish to take part in an activity. 1. Get On The Boat What You Need: Tables turned upside down, brown craft paper, masking tape, blue craft paper (optional), toy animals, a CD player (optional), and Two by Two from the One Big Gulp CD (optional). What You Do: Retell the Bible story as you build an ark. If you choose to do so, lay out blue paper to represent water. Let children help you wrap brown paper around the overturned table legs. Make sure you leave an opening to get into the ark. Let children bring in the animals, preferably two by two. If you like, play the song Two by Two as children bring in the animals. What You Say: Wasn't our Bible story AWESOME? God told Noah to build a great, big boat, and Noah did! Can you help me build a great, big boat? We need to put the wood on. (Wrap the brown paper around overturned table legs and secure it with tape.) Hammer, hammer, saw, saw. Great job! So Noah built the great, big boat just like God told him to. Then what did Noah do? (Pause for answers.) He listened to God, and God told Noah to fill the ark with two of every animal! That's a whole bunch of animals! Can you fill up our boat with animals, taking them two by two? (Allow kids to do so.) Super duper! Go on in with your animals and sit down in the boat. (Join the kids in the boat.) Wow. Imagine what it must have been like on the ark with Noah, his family, and all those animals! Once all the animals, Noah, and his family were on the boat, the rain started. It rained day and night (flip the light switch off), day (flip the switch back on) and night (flip switch off), day (switch on) and night (flip off), for 40 days and 40 nights! (Flip the lights back on.) That is a LOT of rain! Finally it stopped raining, and God promised never to flood the earth again. When it finished raining, God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky to remind him of that promise. Im so glad Noah built the ark to save his family and the animals from the flood. Noah trusted God and knew that God loved him, so Noah did what God wanted him to do. God loved Noah, and God loves you. Who loves me? [Bottom Line] God loves me! 2. What Makes a Rainbow? What You Need: An aluminum pie pan, milk, dish soap, and liquid food coloring. What You Do: Fill the pie pan with milk. Put a squirt of each color food coloring spaced

out a bit. Then, while the children are watching, drop a squirt or two of dishwashing liquid in the milk and watch the reaction. What You Say: We heard how God made a beautiful rainbow. He placed it up in the sky as a reminder of His promise to never again flood the earth. Do you think we can make a rainbow with this pan of milk, food coloring, and dish soap? (Wait for the children to respond.) Lets try our science experiment out and see. Let's add some red, yellow, green, and blue food coloring. No rainbow yet. What if we drop in some soap? (Drop in the soap and watch the colors start to blend.) Wow! Look at that! Look at all the pretty colors and how they are all swirling around. We made a rainbow! God told Noah to build a big boat, and Noah did. God told Noah to fill the boat with of every animal, and Noah did. God told Noah He would cover the earth with water and that it would rain for a lot of days and nights, and it did. God told Noah He would place a rainbow in the sky as a sign that He would never again fill the earth with water, and He did. Noah knew that God keeps His promises. Noah knew that he could trust in God and that God loved him. Who loves me? [Bottom Line] God loves me. 3. Wave Your Rainbow What You Need: Scarves or bandanas in rainbow colors, a CD player, and preschool music. (Tip: Look at the preschool section on www.AmberSkyRecords.com for great resources.) What You Do: Play music and let children dance and wave their scarves to the music. What You Say: In our story today, we heard how God made a beautiful a rainbow in the sky. A Promise What You Need: A pipe cleaner for each child, crepe paper streamers in a rainbow of colors, scissors, and tape. What You Do: Form each pipe cleaner into a circle and secure it that way. Cut strips of crepe paper and attach them to the pipe cleaners with tape. What You Say: God keeps His promises. He does! And God loves you and me. We learned today that God told Noah to build a big boat, fill it up with two of every animal, and wait as it rained and rained and rained. It rained many days and many nights. After
