Pale yellow with deepening core. Some maturity beginning to show on the nose but youthful characters still dominate. Super and rich in the mouth with tremendous array of ripe fruit flavours all well melded together and giving a sweet sensation to a bone dry wine. Beautiful balance and still has zesty acidity.

This wine shows typical varietal flavour, lots of spice and floral tones. It is very austere and has the typical Riesling nervousness. The palate is elegant and rich with a long lingering aftertaste carried by the great acidity of the wine often associated with this varietal.

Light yellow in appearance with a greenish tinge. The nose exudes mandarin, pineapple and citrus blossom aromas. The intense palate balances the fine, mineral element of the wine's structure. A wonderful persistence of flavour on the finish bodes well for further maturation in bottle.

Big rounded mouth with layers of flavours including black cherry, ripe plum, cinnamon, coffee and anaise. Great oak support and soft, pliable tannins. Smooth across the palate with fine texture. Smoke, spice and floral notes jostle in the long finish.

Luddite Shiraz 06, Bot River


The 2005 vintage in the region was definitely one of the cooler ones this century. This long ripening period has resulted in a finely balanced classic Shiraz. Ruby crimson in appearance with herbs, spice, cinnamon and chocolate on the nose. Plums, raspberry and dark chocolate on entry. The middle palate has definite savoury liquorice tones backed by dark fruits. This all finishes with fine tannins and balanced wood use.

Still has very youthful purple colour. Surprisingly forward nose and lots of it. Distinctly different Pinotage with brambleberries, raspberries, rhubarb and lantana! Oak is fairly prominent but fits well. Sweetened fruit mouth with layers of flavour as the nose suggested with addition of spice and some dark cherry. Well rounded tannins lead into a full finish.

Terra Del Capo Sangiovese 07, Coastal


Hints of smokiness (cherry tobacco) combined with earthy mineral elements and rich fruit flavours such as prunes, apricots and peaches. This wine has an elegant tannin structure that ends softly with a slightly sweet sensation. The aroma and flavour are reminiscent of strawberry jam, prunes, dried cherry and raspberry with an earthy meatiness on the palate.

Velvety raspberry colour with hints of red brick edges. Stewed prune and dried apricot with hints of earthy tones on the nose. An elegantly balanced wine with smooth tannins infused by chocolate, coffee beans and dates on the palate. This juicy wine has a beautiful elegant finish.

High Constantia Malbec 06, Constantia


Malbec is typically a medium to full-bodied red wine. Ripe fruit flavors of plums and blackberry give it a jammy characteristic. The tannins are typically a bit tight and the earthy, wood-like appeal makes for a fairly rustic wine. This is a typical Malbec with its dark, almost black, plum colour, cassis and Christmas cake nose.

Delheim Edelspatz Riesling Noble Late Harvest 09, Stellenbosch
Produced from Rhine Riesling grapes grown in a single vineyard situated on a north easterly facing slope on the Simonsberg mountain. Aromas of dried apricot and honey, dusted with botrytis. The wine is lusciously sweet, but well-balanced, with a crisp finish and a lingering aftertaste.

Paul Cluver Weisser Riesling Noble Late Harvest 10, Elgin


Perfectly luscious. The nose is filled with notes of dried apricot, spice and honey. The mouth feel is full and rich, yet the finish is clean and refreshing. Well balanced - the aftertaste seems to last forever.

Nederburg Eminence 04, Paarl


Bright, pale gold. Nose is powered by perfume of jasmine, lime and grapefruit. Some gentle mango notes in the back ground. Lively, clean acidity balances the rich sugar packed mouth. Despite all the flavour it is elegantly light in the mouth.

Pale gold with green reflections. Massive floral flush at the start of the nose followed by tropical fruit salad where pineapple and mango feature with peach and citrus in the background. All underpinned by clean botrytis. Relative youth gives boisterous mouth with lively play on the palate while the keen acidity lifts all the flavours.

Pale gold with coppery flecks. Very attractive and unusual nose with gooseberry, honey, apricots and hint of spearmint and nut. Botrytis is evident but not dominating. Rich and sweet yet not the slightest bit cloying.

Lovely copper-gold. Flavours of coffee-toffee, hazelnut, cinnamon spice, as well as some raisins in the background. Good, long finish and excellent grip at 19.5% alcohol.

Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve 06, Carlitzdorp


Deep opaque, blackish purple colour. Aromas of violets just fly out of the glass. In the mouth endless layers of ripe blackberry fruit coat the palate. Great depth of structure with sweet liquorice flavour combining with rich tannins, give the wine an outstanding complexity.

The wine shows a vibrant plum colour, with dense aromas of prune, spice and tobacco. A fleshy, chewy mouthful of flavours, showing tannic grip, concentrated red fruit nuances, and a firm structure ensuring considerable longevity.
