THESIS/DISSERTATION PROCEDURE/REQUIREMENTS
Procedure Submission of Revised Thesis Student does steps 1 to 9. Beginning SY 2002-2003, only students who have completed all requirements for the degree may join the graduation ceremony. 1) Clears revised copy of thesis with the Thesis Adviser, Style Reader, and Dept Chair. Office Comments/ Requirements All work for the master's (Ph.D.) degree must be completed within 5 (7) years from the date of the first registration for the degree. (7-year limit for Ph.D. approved by School Council in February 2007.) Student submits letter addressed to Dept Chair together with a copy of the revised thesis. Upon approval by the Dept Chair, student pays the basic registration fee, and/or Late Thesis/Dissertation Clearing Fee, depending on when oral defense was passed. (See Note 5.) Details: Name of Student Degree Title of Thesis Date of Oral Defense Grade in the Oral Defense Names of Thesis Adviser and Panel Members Thesis paper is P350 per ream of 500 sheets. Note: Student must keep a 1 inch margin on all sides. Thesis paper is optional. Original + 3 photocopies = 4 Orig-Library, 2-Archives, 3-Department, 4-Student

2) Clears revised copy of thesis with ADGP for format of front matter in general & details.

3) Obtains thesis paper (optional) and copy of Thesis Abstract format. 4) Prints cleared thesis on thesis paper 1 set and prepares Thesis Abstract. 5) Makes 3 photocopies. (If student wants additional copies, prepare written request to be endorsed by the Chair. Submit this to ADGP.) 6) Prepares 3 CDs (each containing copies of thesis, abstract and keywords), CD sticker and case label. (See instruction sheet or visit www.ls.ateneo.edu/adgp.) The sticker will be pasted on only after ADGP checks it. 7) Prints Approval Pages (3 to 4 copies each) and has these signed.

8) Submits the following to ADGP: a. Thesis (Orig & 3 photocopies) b. Thesis Abstract (Orig & 2 photocopies) c. Approval Sheet for Style (3 Original) d. Approval Pages (3 to 4 copies each; all original signed)

Signatures must be complete before pages are submitted to ADGP for binding. a. Approval Sheet for Defense signed by Adviser, Chairperson, & Dean (4 copies) b. Approval Sheet for Acceptance of the Thesis signed by the Adviser, Panel Members, and Dean (4 copies) c. Approval Sheet for Style signed by the Style Reader (3 copies) Binding Fee as of July 2002 (using bookcloth)* - about P1 per page per copy; min. charge is P180 per copy. - add P10 per line per copy for titles exceeding 2 lines (inverted pyramid format)

Processing can take as long as 2 months or more during peak periods, e.g., March submission. *Amounts are subject to change without prior notice.

9) ADGP submits bound theses copies (Library, Archives, Department) For thesis submitted on or near the II Sem cut-off date for inclusion in the Graduation Programme, ADGP gives clearance to Registrar. (Registrar submits list to VP-LS) 10) Graduates who will need certification from the Registrar do the following: a. Go to Registrar's Office to get form. b. Fill up form and have this signed by Registrar. c. Clear with Accounting Office. 11) Student applies for clearance and official copies of transcript of records, certificate of graduation and/or diploma.

(To be included in list of Candidates for Graduation in the Programme, student must submit revised thesis etc. about 2 weeks before the commencement date in March.) One week for normal processing. No processing one week before and during regular registration period. Students may get copies 3 weeks after regular registration period. One week for normal processing. Additional procedures dependent on the date thesis is submitted. After the student passes the oral defense for thesis: Beginning I Sem Procedure after written request for thesis clearing is SY 2007-2008 approved by Chair Within oral defense term No additional procedures required Within one year after oral defense term During the registration period, get registration form and register for Submit 200/Submit 400. Pay registration fee. After the one year period but not to exceed the 5-year During the registration period, student registers residency for the Master's and the 7-year residency for the for Submit 200/Submit 400 and pays Ph.D. registration fee and Late Thesis/Dissertation Clearing Fee each term that the thesis is being reviewed/processed by the Department. That is, if the student fails to submit the final copy of his/her thesis during the semester/term for which he/she registered, the student must register again.
