Admission to Ph. D. Programme 2011


Introduction: Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) is a state-private university constituted by Gujarat Act No. 8 of 2009 and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC Public Notice dated 7.12.2009). It is located at Changa (near Nadiad and Anand) in a 100 acre lush-green sprawling campus. CHARUSAT offers 28 Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes in Engineering, Computer Applications, Pharmacy, Management, Applied Sciences, Physiotherapy and Nursing. The campus was established in 2000 by socio-educational trust, Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal, Anand for providing global level professional education at rural doorsteps. Research and Innovation has been the spirit behind CHARUSAT. The Ph. D. programme is a manifestation of this. The university provides a vibrant research environment supported by highly qualified faculty members, excellent infrastructure and state-of-art facilities. The campus is wi-fi with high-speed internet. The library has over 50,000 books, journals, and access to over 800 ejournals. CHARUSAT has now 9 constituent institutions in the campus: Chandubhai S Patel Institute of Technology (B. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph. D.) Charotar Institute of Computer Application (M. C. A. and Ph. D.) Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy (B. Pharm., M. Pharm., Ph. D.) Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Management (M. B. A., PGDM and Ph. D.) P. D. Patel Institute of Applied Sciences (M. Sc., M. Phil. and Ph. D.) Charotar Institute of Physiotherapy (B. P. T.) Charotar Institute of Nursing (B. Sc.) Dr. K. C. Patel Research and Development Centre (KRADLE) Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) Research Scholars will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different disciplines and also interact with faculties from various fields. Interdisciplinary research will be encouraged. They may also take part in on-going research projects sponsored by national and international agencies.

Students: Students will be admitted to Ph. D. programme on Full-time basis. Eligibility: Students will be eligible for the Ph. D. programme only if the following criteria are satisfied: (a) A post-graduate (Masters) degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA and (b) Has qualified in GATE / CSIR UGC JRF / NET / SLET or equivalent exams of similar level or CHARUSAT Doctoral Entrance Test (CDET)

Admission Procedure: Selection will be based on an interview conducted by CHARUSAT.

Course Structure: 1. The complete research programme will be of minimum 3 years duration for Full-time students. 2. The maximum period allowed for students to complete the programme is 7 years. 3. A student has to undertake at least two courses and a credit seminar (total of minimum 10 credits). This course work including seminar will have to be completed by 1st year. Only after

successful completion of seminar and the course work, the registration for Ph.D. will be confirmed.

Residential requirement: A Full-time student has to stay and work in the university Campus during the duration of the Ph. D. programme.

Course fees: Rs. 50,000 per year for the duration of programme.

CDET 2011: One hour examination with multiple choice questions in respective subjects.
