Bollinger Brut Ros NV 93 | The Wine News Copper-orange fue; fine stream of bubbles. Nose of cranbery, tangerine and light grain scents. Soft and creamy with bright orange peel and vanilla flavorings. A pistol of a wine with racy grapefruit and lemon-lime that linger on the palate Laurent Perrier Brut NV 90 | Wine Spectator A vibrant Brut that pairs high-toned cream, vanilla and butter aromas with zesty fruit flavors and lively acidity. Its focused, harmonious and lush, staying sprightly on the lingering finish. J Brut Ros 69% Pinot Noir, 29% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier This J Brut Ros sparkles with a luminous cool pink hue and exudes delicate aromas of strawberry, nectarine and juicy red apples. On the palate, the wine opens with flavors of cherry, blood orange, citrus peel and the tropical star fruit that are underlined by a bright acidity that keeps the overall impression delightfully fresh with a lively, lingering finish. The wine engages the entire palate with balance wrapped in a refined body of elegance and effervescence, -Winemaker Notes 90 | Wine Spectator Wonderful richness, complexity and depth, built around a core of spicy black cherry and Pinot Noir fruit. A pleasant earthy-hazelnut flavor adds intrigue and the texture is smooth and polished, ending with a creamy mouthfeel. Gramona Argent Reserva 2007, D.O. Cava Simon Field, Master of Wine The magnificently fashionable and minimalist livery heralds something special and, in the Gramona portfolio, this 100% Chardonnay Cava is special indeed. Add to this 34 months ageing and a very low injection of sugar and one has a fabulously rich and yet superbly refined wine. The nose of vanilla, large stone fruit and praline coaxes to a palate which is ripe, rich and unnervingly long. This is about as far as it is possible to be from super-market Cava; lazy mediocrity has ceded to power and glorious harmony. 100% Chardonnay Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva 2003, D.O. 70% Xarel.lo y 30% Macabeo Francois Montand Brut Ros de Bordeaux A very nice French, grenache based sparkling, made in the traditional method. Crisp, clean and extremely pleasant.

Stags Leap Chardonnay Napa Valley 2008 The luscious aroma of honeysuckle greets the nose, following through to flavors of green apple and orange peel on the palate. The mid-palate is round with a creamy mouthfeel from aging on the lees. The fruit is hand picked at night and whole cluster pressed. In order to preserve the minerality, fresh acidity and clean fruit characteristics, this vintage did not undergo malolactic fermentation. A portion of clones (20 per cent) have been fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit while adding layers of taste and complexity. The wine was aged on the lees in French oak (25 percent new) for six months, and stirred weekly during maturation. Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2009 | Recent Release Our Sauvignon Blanc is, well, exceptional! And might we add, it is also owner Mary Novaks favorite wine. We blend our Sauvignon Blanc with grapes grown for us by a handful of conscientious growers to create a vibrant, lovely, flavorful wine. Due to its very limited production, we offer this wine only to our mailing list customers and to select restaurants around the country. A delightfully round and full wine, the 2009 is well balanced with wonderful acidity and a pleasant minerality. It is aromatic with peach, white pepper and hints of paper whites in bloom. Notes of flint whirl delicately around flavors of honey and ripe pear. Spottswoodes Sauvignon Blanc is fermented mostly in small stainless barrels, with concrete cuves and French Oak barrels providing seductive toast and spice highlights to intrigue the palate. Our continued appreciation for all that is beautiful in this grape is due to the fine work performed by our own estate vineyard crew and by a handful of meticulous farmers. We thank the Tofanelli, Hyde, and Farina families and the Larkmead and Silver Pines Vineyards for their contributions to this blend! -Winery Notes El Molino Chardonnay Rutherford Napa Valley 2006 96 | Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine Rich and remarkably complex in the nose with elements of toast, roasted nuts and sweet smoke joining a solid measure of precise, apple-like fruit, this deeply filled wine follows suit in the mouth with big, but neatly proportioned flavors that are long on juicy apples and sweet oak spice. It is quite well-balanced for the big-bodied Chardonnay that it is, and its scant suggestions of last-minute heat are more than adequately buffered by persistent impressions of fruity richness. Its sheer opulence invites drinking now but we would hold off a bit. 100% Chardonnay Ridge Estate Chardonnay St Cruz Mountains 2009 90 | Wine Spectator Well-oaked, with smoky, toasty notes, this is rich, intense and fullbodied. The tangerine, floral, white peach and nectarine flavors are enlivened by acidity. Drink now through 2016.

Far Niente Chardonnay Napa Valley 2007 91 | Wine Spectator Pure, clean, rich and layered green apple, pear, spice and nutmeg give this a tight focus. Full-bodied, intense yet supple, with a long, fruity finish. Drink now through 2012. 91 | The Wine Advocate Far Nientes beautiful 2007 Chardonnay Estate offers up copious aromas of lemon blossoms, poached pears, and brioche, crisp acidity, a hint of tropical fruits, a greenish-light gold color, and medium to full-bodied, elegant, pure flavors. It should drink well for 3-4 years. Saintsbury Chardonnay Carneros 2008 This wine is fermented in French oak barrels and aged sur lie for about eight months. Usually twenty to thirty percent of these barrels are new; the balance have been used once and twice before. During the aging process, the barrels are stirred (batonnge) to increase yeast contact for added richness. The wine also completes malolactic fermentation in the barrel, which adds roundness to the mouthfeel and complexity to the aroma. Unfiltered. -Winery Notes Jermann Capo Martino in Ruttaris, Friuli IGT 2005 Ribolla Gialla, Tocai, Pinot Bianco, Malvasia, Picolit y other local grapes all planted in the same lot, where the vineyard Capo Martino is located. Slovenian oak fermentation. Winery Notes 91 | Wine Spectator A very tight white, but with some wonderful toffee, cream, lemon rind and apple undertones. Full and rich, with a long, long finish. Jermann Were Dreams, Friuli IGT 2007 93 | Wine Spectator This has a lovely golden color, with aromas of apple tart and notes of sultana and spices. Full-bodied, with a lemony acidity that gives a fresh attack. Hints of vanilla cream latch on and provide a lingering apple pie finish. Layered, long and finely crafted. Rich and wonderful. 97% Chardonnay fermented and aged in French oak. 91 Wine Spectator

Araujo Altagracia Napa Valley 2006 92 | Robert Parker One of the best second wines made in California is the selection for what Araujo calls Altagracia. The 2006 Altagracia is a soft, round, up-front, seductive wine with sweet black currant and cherry fruit interwoven with hints of licorice, roasted herbs, and earth. This gracious, generously endowed wine is pure, lush, and ideal for drinking over the next 10 or so years. 91 | Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar Good bright medium ruby. Lively aromas of cassis, licorice and tobacco. Lush and sweet but with good definition and lift to the flavors of black raspberry, coffee and mocha. The juicy, long finish features smooth, sweet tannins that expand with air. Calera Mills Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir 2007 95 | Robert Parker From a 13.1-acre vineyard planted in 1997, the 2007 Pinot Noir Mills Vineyard was cropped at an absurdly low .84 tons of fruit per acre. This beauty offers up notes of forest floor, raspberries, fresh mushrooms, sweet currants, and meat juices. The provocative, riveting aromatics are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with sweet tannins, dense, chewy, lush fruit, good acidity, and a 40-second finish. Drink this profound Pinot Noir over the next decade or more. El Molino Pinot Noir Napa Valley 2006 90 | Robert Parker The light to medium ruby-hued 2006 Pinot Noir offers sweet cherry, loamy soil, spice, and herb characteristics, a savory, relatively evolved, medium to full-bodied palate, and more flavor than its light-ish color suggests. Broad, savory, and ready to drink, I would not be surprised to see this wine evolve for 7-8 years or longer. The balance is impeccable. Elegant and refined, with a plush underpinning to the luscious raspberry, blackberry and black plum fruit, shaded with subtle hints of peppermint and a whiff of char as the finish sails on smoothly. Drink now through 2016. 90 | Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar Brilliant red. Fresh and spicy aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and Asian spices. Clean, energetic red fruit flavors are underscored by zesty minerality and framed by silky tannins. Seductive and juicy, with enticing finishing sweetness and cut. This vineyard is planted to five different Dijon clones. Beaux Freres The Vineyard Williamette Valley 2006 93 | Wine Spectator Distinctly spicy, with cinnamon and white pepper overtones to the focused red berry and cherry fruit, persisting on the expressive finish and lingering beautifully. Needs time to settle in, but this has the goods to age. Best from 2010 through 2016. 93 Wine Spectator 91 | Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar Medium red color. Smoky dark berries and cherry-cola on the nose, picking up exotic incense and bacon fat with air. Intense flavors of spiced cherry and blackberry flavors are enlivened by zesty minerality and framed by supple tannins. A plush, suave, alluring wine with excellent finishing sweetness and a late jolt of rooty sassafras. Nickel & Nickel Branding Iron Vineyard 2005 The 2005 Branding Iron is very fruity with flavors of blackberry and cranberry prevalent on the palate. This sweet fruit is accompanied by some peppermint and earth, while the oak offers up a warm toast and spice. The longer growing season this year allowed for good resolution of the tannins. The wine is fat and velvety with a long, coating texture that progresses into a warm, lingering finish. -Winery Notes Red Car Trolley Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2009 A distinctive Pinot Noir with prominent umami and forest floor qualities out of the gate, making this Red Car bottling a bit more appealing to fans of Old World wines than ones dominated by upfront fruit. That said, there is still plenty of fruit packed into this Pinot bottling, black cherry and pomegranate in particular, with mineral threads, hints of lavender a finish that lingers with leather and cinnamon. Will take nicely to a year or two in the cellar. -Winery Notes 90 | Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar) Vivid red. A step up in density and power from the Boxcar, with a more pungent quality to its musky dark berry and cherry aromas and flavors. This really coats the mouth, with a slow-building spiciness supplying energy. The finish leaves notes of licorice and bitter cherry skin behind. Deserves a few more years of patience but shows well with some decanter time now. (May/Jun 2010)

Silver Oak Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 A Bordeaux blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a complex and elegant wine that balances the expression of fruity and savory elements with finesse. The wine has a dark ruby color with a purple edge and displays aromas of black plum, soy sauce, chocolate, rose petals, cedar and black olive. It has a soft, velvety attack and a fruity, floral and spicy mid-palate. The finish is long and smooth with well integrated tannins. Properly cellared, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2024. -Winemaker Notes 93 | The Wine News Garnet hue with a feathered rim. A bouquet of menthol and lavender with spicy mixed wood notes. Soft, seductive black fruit laced with mint and evergreen. Seamless, elegant finish with expressive cherry and smoky oak. 91 | Connoisseurs Guide 7% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc; 2% Petit Verdot. Deep, well-defined curranty fruit is the driving force of this nicely extracted, young Cabernet, while complementary oak and deft touches of cocoa lend a boost in overall richness. If fairly full-bodied, the wine shows nary a hint of heaviness and sports a fine sense of balance from beginning to end. It is supple to start and finishes with appropriate tannins, but its astringency never gets in the way of its ongoing fruit, and time is a guaranteed remedy to its wholly acceptable toughness. 90 | International Wine Cellar Good deep red. Black cherry, plum syrup and lead pencil on the nose, with a lightly roasted character and a meaty nuance. Quite pliant on the palate, with a much more velvety mouthfeel than the Alexander Valley offering and more mid-palate stuffing to support its toothcoating tannins. Here the wines herbal element lifts the fruit. Not exactly fat but nicely sweet. Finishes with very good breadth and length. Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006 Intensely fragrant with aromas of crme de cassis, graphite and notes of lavender and bay. Rich flavors of blackberry and huckleberry merge with earthiness and minerality. Tannins are generous and well-developed, firm yet sweet. A powerful wine with elegance and grace. Napa Valleys 2006 vintage began with a wet winter that extended into spring, delivering more than twice the average rainfall for March and nearly four times the April average. The precipitation delayed bloom, but once the skies cleared, the vines had good fruit set and progressed slowly and steadily through slightly warmer than usual June weather. In July, a brief hot spell of four consecutive days over 100-degrees had the effect of putting the vines on hold before ripening continued when mild weather returned in August. Lower temperatures extended through September and October, with some fog and cloudy days. Overall, the 2006 growing season was significantly cooler than average, and harvest began generally later. Grapes for this wine were picked October 12-27. All the fruit was in the winery before light rains fell in early November. Crop levels for 2006 were average and thanks to the long hang time, which allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, quality was excellent. -Winemaker Notes 93 The Wine News 91 Connoisseurs Guide 90 International Wine Cellar

96 | Wine Spectator Pure, rich and concentrated, this bold, graceful wine offers a deep core of earthy currant, blackberry and plum, with hints of herb, mocha and black licorice, giving it uncommon complexity and depth. Ends with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. 94 | The Wine Advocate The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve offers a beautiful perfume of violets, black currants, and subtle oak, lead pencil shavings, and spice characteristics. This full-bodied, creamy textured Cabernet possesses superb concentration, lovely purity, and a multilayered mouthfeel. It should drink well for two decades or more. 93 | International Wine Cellar Good deep ruby-red. Currant, chocolate and tobacco on the nose. Silky, layered and lush, with a seamless texture to the full-bodied flavors of plum, currant and lead-pencil minerality. Has plenty of plump mid-palate fruit to support the big but thoroughly ripe tannins, which reach the front teeth. Mostly from To-Kalon fruit, the rest from nearby vines also in Oakville. Winemaker Janssens compared this wine to the 1995. This is sweet and approachable, whereas the 2005 version was young and aggressive at the same stage. Ramey Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Our third release from this historic vineyard on Larkmead Lane surrounding the former Hans Kornell Winerywhich in turn enclosed the historic Larkmead Winery. That winery dated from the 1880s, when it was owned by Lillie Hitchcock Coit of Coit Tower fame. Located on the valley floor, we surmise that Ritchie Creek, separating the Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain appellations, once ran through this site, resulting in the prominent gravel and excellent drainage which distinguishes this vineyard. I had worked with some parcels from Larkmead while I was with Rudd, so I knew its potential for quality. This vintage is blended of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petite Verdot and 2% Malbec, and was aged eighteen months in sixty percent new French barrels. -Winery Notes 92 Wine Advocate 93 | International Wine Cellar Glass-staining ruby. Deep, youthfully brooding cassis and dark cherry on the nose, with a strong licorice note building in the glass. Sappy black and blue fruit flavors are framed by dusty tannins and energized by a tangy mineral note. The licorice quality repeats on the finish, which is broad, sappy and impressively persistent. For a big boy, this is pretty graceful. 92 | The Wine Advocate Although backward, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Larkmead Vineyard is extremely promising. Its inky/ruby/ purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of smoke herbs, graphite, crme de cassis, coffee beans, and toasty oak. With sensational fruit on the attack and mid-palate, and a finish filled with power, glycerin, depth,

and impressive structure, this 2006 will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age, and should evolve for two decades or more. 92+ Pine Ridge Fortis Napa Valley 2004 Just 859 cases of this ultra-reserve wine were produced in 2004, only the second vintage of this estate vineyard showcase wine. Carefully selected grapes from top blocks and sub-blocks within Pine Ridges 225 acres of Napa Valley vineyards, stretching across appellations, went into this blend (70% Rutherford, 9% Oakville, 9% Carneros, 3% Stags Leap District). Winemaker Stacy Clark combine 74% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 9% malbec and 7% petit verdot and aged the assemblage in 75% new French barrels for a tte de cuve that would be a boon to any collectors cellar. Earl grey tea, bittersweet cocoa and pipe tobacco aromas wrap around bright red cherry and blueberry fruit notes, which appear again on the palate framed by firm tannins. The wine shows great length and full-palate complexity that should continue to develop with some time in the bottle. Jonathan Malthus Worlds End Wavelength Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley 2008 90 | Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar (A 50/50 blend of syrah and cabernet franc from a cool site): Good full medium ruby. Very reticent nose hints at blueberry, kirsch, licorice and violet, plus a whiff of smoked meat. Dense but pliant, even if the black fruit flavors are a bit youthfully stunted. Very ripe and broad but the tannins are a bit dusty and dry. Today this doesnt yet come alive, but it would appear to have all the elements to make a very good bottle. 4 Stars | Decanter Magazine Lush plummy nose. Very rich, suave and textured, without being too heavy or extracted. Quite good acidity and length. Stephen Brook 92 | Wine & Spirits Jonathan Maltus of Chteau Teyssier in St-Emilion is releasing the first vintage of his new project in Napa Valley, Worlds End. This blend, half cabernet franc and half syrah, is more than a clever midpoint between his home base and his ex-Australian project. Grown in the cool hills southeast of the city of Napa, theres a fragrant logic to this wine that makes the blend compelling. Its fresh and bright, the purple richness of syrah checked by the edgier details of cabernet francs tannin. That tannin seems to open up the flavors of the wine, bringing out mineral notes and red tones in the fruit. Firm and complete, this blends tension and richness together in a delicious red for steak frites. Jonathan Malthus Worlds End Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Napa Valley 2008 90 | Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar Red-ruby. Blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, flowers and sexy oak spices on the nose. Juicy and penetrating in the mouth, with terrific verve and a brisk acid impression to the flavors of cranberry, cassis, bitter chocolate and licorice. Tannins saturate the entire palate on the dusty finish. 90 International Wine Cellar

4 Stars | Decanter Opaque red. Dense spicy oaky nose, showing blackberries, vanilla, and coffee. Rich, opulent, quite soft but not overblown, concentrated and spicy, with some freshness as well as power, and some zest on the finish, which is long. Stephen Brook Jonathan Malthus Worlds End Good Times, Bad Times Beckstoffer To Kalon Napa Valley 2008 93 | Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar Ruby-red. Brooding aromas of kirsch, cassis, minerals and dusty earth. Intensely flavored and juicy but not hard, with more successfully integrated acidity than the Crossfire. Precise, soil-driven flavors of dark fruits and bitter chocolate really carry on the finish, which features suave, mounting tannins and the structure for extended aging. These are the top-tier single-vineyard wines from the new California project of Jonathan Maltus, previously best known to American wine lovers as the force behind a collection of limited-production bottles from Saint-Emilion (Le Dome, Les Asteries, etc.). 4 Stars | Decanter Opulent black cherry nose. Very rich, broad and fleshy, but also spicy and intense, with lift, drive, and balance. Good length. Stephen Brook DeLille Cellars Harrison Hill Red Yakima Valley, Washington 2005 92 | Robert Parker The 2005 Harrison Hill is sourced from a single Yakima Valley vineyard, the second oldest in the state. It is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Petit Verdot and was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. This fragrant effort offers notes of pain grille, pencil lead, black currant jam and licorice. Seamless, ripe, and well-endowed, there is enough structure to support 2-3 years of further development in the bottle. This balanced, lengthy wine should be at its best from 2012 to 2020. 92 | Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar (a Bordeaux blend based on 65% cabernet sauvignon) Medium red. Complex nose offers strawberry, tobacco, lavender and subtle herbal nuances. Lush, sweet and spicy, combining noteworthy breadth and good juicy definition. Finishes with sweet tannins and solid backbone for aging. This has an old-viney quality from a cabernet component dating back to 1962. 89 Connoisseurs Guide DeLille Cellars Doyenne Aix Yakima Valley Washington 2007 92 | Robert Parker

The 2007 Aix is made up of 61% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Mourvdre sourced entirely from the Red Mountain AVA. It gives up a splendid, slightly exotic nose of smoke, spice box, lavender, grilled meat, black currant, and plum. Forward, plush, and spicy, this full-flavored, pleasure-bent offering can be enjoyed now and over the next 6-8 years. Seghesio Sangiovese Alexander Valley 2008 Our grandfather first worked with Sangiovese in the late 1800s during his tenure as winemaker at Italian Swiss Colony. In 1910, he planted a Chianti field blend surrounding the railroad station in what was then Chianti, California. Those Sangiovese plantings on our Home Ranch are the oldest in America and provided the rich source of four unique clones for our subsequent plantings of the varietal. Sweet raspberry fragrance with violet scents Similar flavors intertwined with blackberry and cherry fruit Vibrant ripe acidity through the finish Long, fine tannins add complexity and depth This wine captures Sangioveses essence. - Ted Seghesio Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2006 89 | Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine High in ripeness, high in extract and high in alcohol, this gusty, very full-bodied wine starts out in the direction of late-harvest excess, but surprises by showing considerable fruit on the palate and is quite well-balanced for the very big wine that it is. A bit more tannic than Zinfandel usually gets, it is sufficiently hot and astringent to want pairing with appropriately hearty foods after a few years of age. Uvaggio Propieta Sperino Piedmont 2005 90 | Stephen Tanzer, Internation Wine Cellar Bright red with a hint of amber at the rim. The cream soda, root beer float and sour red cherry aromas are nicely lifted by floral scents. Enters fresh and round, with subtle sour red cherry, kirsch and tar flavors enlivened by sweet cinnamon and a cool floral mintiness. The long finish features firm, slightly gritty tannins. Nebbiolo 65%, Vespolina 20% and Croatina 15%. Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 2004 93 | Wine Spectator Has fabulous aromas of blackberry, black cherry and raspberry. Full-bodied, with wonderfully integrated tannins, fresh mushrooms and milk chocolate. Chewy in the end. We will see if this is better than the 2001 with age. Best after 2010. Castello Banfi Belnero Sangiovese Tuscany 2007 Deep red color, with mild garnet nuances. Very complex aroma on the nose, with spicy hints of tobacco and coffee, as well as fruity notes of blackberry jam. On the palate the structure is powerful, warm and soft, with a pleasant note of vanilla in the end. Enjoyable now yet endowed with great aging potential. 90 Stephen Tanzer

90 | Wine Enthusiast Belnero is a Sangiovese-based wine ( with a tiny percentage of outside grapes) that shows loads of Montalcino typicity and elegance. If the rules governing Rosso di Montalcino are changed, those new wines might resemble Belnero. San Felice Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva 2006 90 | Wine Spectator Blueberry and mineral aromas. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and pretty wood that turns to sandalwood and violet. Subtle and polished. Best from 2010 through 2014. Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi Priorato 2007 93 | Robert Parker The 2007 Finca Dofi ups the ante. It is sourced from a single vineyard with a cepage of 60% Garnacha and 40% Cabernet, Syrah, and Merlot aged in 100% new oak. It displays a more expressive nose of mineral, Asian spices, smoke, espresso, black cherry, and licorice. On the palate it is dense but approachable. It merits several years of cellaring, and its optimal drinking window extends from 2013 to 2022. Biodynamic. Unfiltered. 92 | Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellars Opaque ruby. Expansive aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, iron, tobacco and cedar. Very rich but lively, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a hint of licorice. Packs serious punch and shows a chewy, youthfully tannic quality on the long, penetrating finish. Unevolved right now and in need of at least another few years in bottle, but this is very promising. Alejandro Fernndez El Vnculo Crianza La Mancha 2005 91 | Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellars Dark ruby. Wild, pungent dark berry and raw meat aromas are complemented by violet and tobacco. Smells vaguely rude, but on the palate this is all sweet berry fruit, with the supple blackberry and cassis flavors firmed by chewy tannins and picking up musky herbal and dried floral qualities with air. Finishes sweet, with firm, slightly bitter cherry and blackcurrant skin flavors and very good persistence. Lar de Paula Crianza Rioja (Alavesa) 2007 Bronze Award | Decanter 2010 Wine Awards Ripe fruit compote and leather on the nose with vibrant, raspberry fruit character on the palate. Montecillo Gran Reserva Rioja 2001 91 | Wine Enthusiast If you like a traditionally styled Rioja then this will be highly appealing. Aromas of dill, tobacco and dried fruits are enticing, while the palate veers toward subtle fruits, more tobacco and finely intertwined acidity. This is a wonderful

wine from an excellent vintage, thus theres absolutely no reason why it shouldnt age gracefully for another decade. Deumayen Trez Malbec Reserva Mendoza 2007 92 | The Wine Advocate Bodegas Deumayens 2007 Trez Reserva Malbec was aged in 33% new French oak for 12-14 months. A glasscoating opaque purple color, it offers up an alluring nose of spice box, mineral, smoke, and black cherry. Mediumbodied and elegant on the palate, it is mouth-coating, savory, and concentrated. Give it 2-3 years to fully blossom and drink it from 2012 to 2022. Marchiori & Barraud Malbec Cuartel 2 Mendoza 2007 90 | Wine Spectator Ripe and polished, with delicious raspberry ganache, blackberry, currant and mocha notes that extend through the lengthy, velvety finish. Rich, but stays fresh. Delicious. The Colonial Wine Co. Explorateur Shiraz Barossa Valley 2006 Classic ripe Shiraz that is handpicked from old Shiraz Vines based in the north of the Barossa Valley. The grapes are double-sorted by bunch and then by grape - on arrival at the winery and, after fermentation, aged in French oak for a year. Purple in color with a round, enveloping taste. -Winemaker Notes 94 | James Halliday Has abundant black cherry and blackberry fruit with spicy components; good oak and tannin handling; a nice twist of acidity to freshen the finish. 92 | International Wine Cellar A 90/10 blend of shiraz and cabernet) Inky ruby. Smoky, deep aromas of spicy black and blue fruits, espresso and lively licorice. Chewy bitter cherry and blackcurrant flavors are firmed by chunky tannins and given bite by a late mineral quality. Gains power and structure with air but retains sweetness and clarity. This is pretty serious. The Colonial Wine Co. Envoy GSM Barossa Valley 2006 The Barossa Valley is a store of old vines coupled with an extended number of grape varieties that produce ripe, fruity, modern wines. The traditional mix from the Southern Rhone excels in the Barossa Valley the home in Australia of old bush-vine Grenache and Mourvdre. Handpicked before being transported to the winery in shallow trays, the grapes are double-sorted before vinification. The wine is aged for a year in French and American oak barrels. - Winemakers Notes 91 | The Wine Advocate The 2006 Envoy GSM is composed of 50% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, and 20% Mourvedre. livers a fragrant perfume of earth notes, mineral, wild cherry, and blueberry. Smooth textured, savory, and concentrated, this tasty wine will blossom with another 2-3 years of cellaring and offer prime drinking from 2010 to 2018. The Colonial Estate is the Australian project of Englishman and Bordeaux chateau owner Jonathan Maltus. His first vintage in Australia was 2002. The entry level wines are line-priced at $30 offering excellent bang for the buck. 91 | International Wine Cellar Deep ruby. Red and dark berries on the nose, with exotic floral and incense qualities adding complexity and lift. Medium-bodied raspberry and blackberry flavors are energetic and strikingly precise, with dusty minerality adding grip to the back end. Clean, racy and focused, with very good finishing lift and cut. 91 | James Halliday The shiraz component adds some structure to the blend, but the flavours are essentially driven by the grenache. All of these wines have elements of Southern Rhne. Clarendon Hills Brookman Merlot Mc Laren Vale 2006 92 | The Wine Advocate The 2006 Bordeaux varietals begin with the 2006 Merlot Brookman Vineyard. Velvety textured and approachable now, it will nevertheless evolve for 5-7 years and drink well through 2020. Ungrafted. Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Grenache 2006 92 | Robert Parker The 2006 Grenache Onkaparinga was reviewed as a barrel sample in Issue 173. Purple-colored, it has a reticent bouquet of black cherry, plum, and boysenberry. Layered on the palate with ample sweet fruit, this lengthy effort will deliver pleasure through 2016. -Robert Parker Paul Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle Hermitage 2005 91 - 94 | Robert Parker The most famous wine of the estate, the 2005 Hermitage La Chapelle, looks outstanding. Apparently the new owners eliminated nearly 50% of the production to come up with this cuvee, which looks set to have at least 30 years of longevity. It was aged in all small French barrels, of which about 15-20% are new, so the actual winemaking and elevage havent changed as of yet, although the famed Bordeaux winemaking guru, Professor Denis Dubourdieu, has been hired, and his expertise tends to be more with white rather than red wines, so well see what his talents provide in future vintages. This wine is outstanding, dark ruby/purple-colored with notes of creme de cassis, tobacco leaf, and some melted licorice and gamey animal notes. It is medium to full-bodied, has high tannin, moderate acidity, and admirable purity and depth. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2027. 91 Robert Parker

Grahams Tawny 20 years old 93 | The Wine News Reflective honey hue. Mixed aromas of cola, brown sugar, pecan, citrus peel and crme brle. Creamy texture with butterscotch and warm caramel flavors spiked with an edgy, citrus zing. Alcohol adds a spiciness to the close. 90 | Wine Enthusiast This is a hugely dry, burnt style, very concentrated. The licorice and bitter coffee flavors are dense, layered and well balanced with the acidity. A serious wine that demands attention. Grahams Tawny 30 years old 95 | Wine Enthusiast Remarkably, this is able to show age and long cask aging, but the flavor is still here: figs and honey, balanced out with burnt caramel aged acidity and a rich (but not sweet) finish. Excellent, top quality aged tawny. Editors Choice, Grahams Tawny 40 years old 94 | Wine Enthusiast An intense, mature wine, but one that has kept its ripeness and richness. Grahms Vintage Port 2003 W. & J. Grahams Classic Vintage Ports are produced in years when the harvest and the resulting wines are found to be exceptional. This occurs, on average, about 3 times per decade. After aging for 18 months in cask, the best wines of some the finest Quintas in the Douro, especially Grahams Quinta dos Malvedos, are blended to produce a rich, exquisite wine. 96 | Wine Enthusiast This is a great Port, from a great brand. It is packed with solid, structured, rich and intense black fruit flavors. Its tannins show considerable aging potential. It is a big, ripe wine, balanced by a long, lingering dark aftertaste. 95 | The Wine Advocate Violets, roses, spices, and candied dark fruits emanate from the glass of the murky black/purple colored 2003 Graham Vintage Port. After four days of air, this wines aromatics sweetened further, displaying jammy blackberry and blueberry scents. Bold, full-bodied, and expansive, the Graham benefited the most from extensive contact with air of all the 2003s tasted for this report. This opulently jammy wine assaults the palate with powerful yet soft layers of oily, candied red fruits as well as notes of tar and hints of mocha. A highly concentrated effort, it is creamy textured, suave, and reveals an admirably long finish filled with additional layers of dark fruits intermingled with spices. Projected maturity: 2030-2055. 95 | International Wine Cellar Deep, saturated ruby. Initially reticent aromas of dark chocolate and nuts; showed a high-pitched eucalyptus quality as it opened in the glass. Then almost shockingly huge and rich in fruit, with wonderfully lush, complex flavors of cassis, violet, minerals, spices, flowers and exotic chocolate. The tannins are seductively sweet, yet the finish boasts terrific focus, not to mention outstanding persistence. In terms of sheer palate-saturating flavor and texture, this runs a close second to Fonseca among these 2003s. For long aging. 94 | Wine Spectator Loads of tar and blackberry aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with medium sweetness, big, velvety tannins and a long finish. A big, juicy wine. Best after 2015. 8,500 cases made.

Dows Late Bottled Vintage 2005 Dows 2005 Late Bottled Vintage Port is a wine of a single year but it is not a declared Vintage Port. Whereas Vintage Port spends only two years in oak cask and then matures in bottle, LBV is aged in seasoned oak casks and then bottled, when it is between four and six years old. At the time of bottling, Dows LBV has completed its maturation and is ready for drinking without the need for decanting. Dows LBV has consistently won more awards that most other LBV Ports on the market and has earned a reputation for excellence. The nose has intense lifted aromas of wild berry fruits and floral hints exploding from the glass. Full-bodied palate with excellent dark fruit flavors such as black plums, combined with nuances of dark chocolate. Ending with a long slightly dry finish. Dows Late Bottled Vintage Port pairs wonderfully with chocolate desserts and hard cheeses like aged Cheddar or creamy blue. 90 | Wine Enthusiast Very ripe young fruit, a damson and sweet plum juice flavor, with a touch of stalkiness as well as richness. The wine bursts with fruit, although finally quite dry, with a complex, dark texture.
