1 Introduction
This document contains common information about UPEK's driver packages.

2 General description
There are two packages containing files for installation of the drivers: Legacy driver package This package includes files for the Windows 7 / Server2008 R2 Legacy driver and files for drivers for all other supported operating systems. The Legacy driver is intended for use by applications that use classic Windows Vista (and older) APIs. WinBio driver package This package includes files for the Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 WinBio driver and files for drivers for all other supported operating systems. The WinBio driver is intended for use by applications that use the new Windows 7 Biometric Framework API. Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP/Server2003/Vista/Server2008/Windows 7 on 32-bit platform XP/Server2003/Vista/Server2008/Windows 7/Server2008 R2 on 64-bit platform

3 Packages description
The packages contain following components: Driver files in driver folder for possible manual installation of drivers. Driver files are placed in separate folders according to operating system, each system has two folders (one with drivers for 32-bit systems and one with drivers for 64-bit systems). Driver files for all systems except Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 are identical in both packages. Driver files for Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 differ depending on the package (the Legacy package includes files for the Legacy driver and the WinBio package includes files for the WinBio driver). Installation executables in install folder for automatic driver installation. Executable files are placed in separate folders for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. On Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2, either the Legacy driver or the WinBio driver will be installed, depending on the package. Merge modules in merge_modules folder for possible use in setup of an external application. Merge modules are placed in separate folders for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. In each folder, the are two merge modules. The driver.msm module is present in both packages and can be used for installation of drivers on all systems except Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2. The second module differs depending on the package, either the driver_w7.msm or driver_w7_winbio.msm module is present. The driver_w7.msm module can be used for installation of Legacy driver on Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 and the driver_w7_winbio.msm module can be used for installation of WinBio driver on Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2.

Information about TouchChip driver packages

Note: The Windows 7 WinBio driver and the Windows 7 legacy driver cannot be installed together on one system. If you install the Windows 7 legacy driver on a system with Windows 7 WinBio driver, the Windows 7 WinBio driver will be replaced by the Windows 7 legacy driver and vice versa. Warning: Installing the Windows 7 WinBio driver over the Windows 7 TouchChip legacy driver may sometimes require reboot. Therefore, if you decide to use the Windows 7 WinBio merge module in the setup program of your application and there is a possibility that it will be installed on systems with Windows 7 TouchChip legacy driver, please schedule a reboot in your setup program.
