Creative Development (Art, Dance, Music) Art- Children learn to observe and draw and paint.

Children will learn to print using blocks of shapes to create pictures. Children will make 3d models of homes from Stuart times. Music Children learn to make musical instruments that create sound in different ways. Children will learn to create sounds using instruments. They will learn to create sound scopes using made and other instruments to accompany drama about the Great Fire of London. Dance- Children will learn to combine repeated movements to music to retell parts of the story of The Fire of London

Key Questions & Ideas / Creative Entry Point Drama- children in role as bakers have to act together to help put out a fire without help from the fire brigade. How do we know what happened? Where did the fire begin? How did the fire spread so quickly? What was it like to be alive in Stuart times?

Mathematical development Block C Handling data and measures (2 weeks)


Learn to use Venn and Carroll diagrams to record their sorting and classifying of information. Learn communicate their findings, using the simple lists, tables, pictograms and

block graphs they have recorded. Learn to use a wider range of measures including to use everyday non-standard and standard units to measure length and mass. Block D Calculating, measuring and understanding shape (2 weeks)
Learn to add and subtract values of money to calculate change. Learn to solve problems about measures of time. Learn to describe straight and turning movements, recognise right angles in turns and understand angle as a measurement of turn.

Knowledge and understanding of the world (including RE, geography, history, DT) DT- Children will learn to make instruments that make sound s n different ways. Children will learn to make moving pictures using sliding, rotating and levered parts to help retell a story. Children will learn to make healthy food, learn about basic food hygiene and to use tools safely. History-Children will learn about the events of the Great Fire of London. They will learn about life in London during Stuart times. Children will learn how the fire spread across London and learn what happened after the Great fire. Children will also learn about how we know about the past. RE Islam- Know about Muslim beliefs about the creation of the world. Become familiar with the Muslim artefacts & be able to describe how they are used, eg prayer mat, the Quran Children /families from the Muslim faith to share their expertise & experience

Phys Dev Dance: Games- Athletics- children will learn and develop skills to take part in running, racing, jumping and throwing activities. Dance- Children learn movements and sequences to help tell the story of the fire of London.

Block E Securing number facts, relationships and calculating (3 weeks)


Learn to use mental calculation strategies to solve number problems including those involving money and measures. Learn to choose the appropriate operation when solving addition and subtraction problems. Learn to multiply numbers by grouping and counting on a number line.

PSE development Children will deepen their understanding of their rights and responsibilities at school and in the wider community. Children will learn to recognise what makes themselves and others special whilst learning about the Elmer story.

ICT Children will learn that ICT can be used to create pictograms. and use ICT to classify information and present findings. Children will learn Explore fonts, colours and styles and keyboard for capital letters, delete, full stop, question mark and return key for spacing. Children will explore possibilities in drawing and painting for developing ideas.. .

Communication, language and literacy Stories from other countries (4 weeks) Children will read a selection of stories with incidents and settings from other countries and cultures. Identify characters, settings and main events. Children will write stories based in other countries and settings. Children learn to use different sentence starters and sentence beginnings. Children learn to use interesting describing words in stories. Learn to join ideas in a sentence by using connectives. Children learn to use capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks in their writing. Learn to respond to stories expressing viewpoints ,likes and dislikes and making connections with other stories. Writing instructions (2 weeks) Children will learn to read follow instructions for games and recipes . children will then write instructions based on their experiences using instructional language.. Poems on a theme (1 week) Children will learn to write poems on a theme making word choices to develop rhythm and writing rhyming couplets. Children will incorporate the use of their musical instruments in the performance of poems. Science Sound and Hearing- Children will learn to describe sounds they hear and to identify different ways sounds are made. Children will learn to present their ideas in tables drawings and in writing. Children will learn about how we use ears to listen and identify dangers. Children will learn how sounds change when they are near or far. Children will learn to measure distances and show their results in tables and charts. Food- Children will learn to combine ingredients to make healthy foods and baked foods.
