OF GREAT LOOKS, CHARISMA AND CONFIDENCE...
The Talent Management Department of AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia has recently conducted a skills workshop for the current
and incoming Executive Board and Management Team members.

We had four amazing speakers on personal grooming, professional etiquette, formal communication and protocol. These decorated
speakers are no doubt the cream of the crop of what Universiti Utara Malaysia has to offer and they had graced us with their
willingness to conduct our sessions. They are, in no particular order:

Puan Siti Normala bt. Jailani, Lecture of Universiti Utara Malaysia, Consultant from i-COMTOUR Training and Consultancy had
discussed at length on personal grooming and appearance in public. First impressions are always important!

Professional etiquette had been covered by Encik Fauzi Mokhtar who is also of Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Consultant from i-
COMTOUR Training and Consultancy . The way your bags are held, your speech and of course the way you carry yourself is important
to personal branding and to what others perceive of you.

Encik Azahari b. Abu Hassan from Universiti Utara Malaysia had serenaded us with details on event protocols. The order of guest
arrivals, seating, letter formats, and dress is important to run a successful event.

Formal letters of application, memorandums and fax cover sheets are examples of what were covered in the session with Puan
Farhainis Md. Yusuf, Lecturer of Unversiti Utara Malaysua. Formats, headings and sign-offs are critical to maintain a professional
image.

AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia would like to express deepest gratitude and appreciation for spending time with us and giving
insightful knowledge.

ASIA PACIFIC EXCHANGE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR 2010 in TAIWAN

My very first international conference was the HEROES conference during October 2009, held in Taoyuan,
Taiwan. In just six months time, I would have never expected to travel to Taiwan again for APXLDS 2010 (Asia
Pacific Exchange and Leadership Development Seminar 2010). I couldn’t describe my own feelings;
because of AIESEC, I have had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan not once, but twice within half a year for
two amazing conferences, HEROES 2009 and APXLDS 2010.

In APXLDS, I was in the EXPro track. It was amazing to have met both outgoing and incoming Local
Committee Presidents, Member Committee Presidents, and Member Committees from around Asia Pacific
in that track. They are the elites; experienced leaders. It was a great experience to have experienced it all
with them. In those six days, during every session and discussion (even lunch time), delegates were Savvy,
Smart, Strong and Fast. Professionalism is what I learnt about the most throughout the conference. In the
EXpro track, it was all about international internships; AIESECers believe that an internship equals to one
life changing experience. Ideas, strategies, analyses, and solutions were discussed within groups, in order
to create more life change experiences, and to bring positive impact to the world.

In personal, I think that at least one member to be send to this grand conference every year. It is just not
about personal learning or bringing something new or initiative back to our LC. It is also about
representative from Malaysia, showing that Malaysia delegation can also do well in international platform
because we are the future leaders of Malaysia.

Foo Jing Sheng,

Local Committee President Elect, Term 2010/2011
