The State shall promote civic consciousness among the youth and shall develop their moral, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being. It shall inculcate the youth patriotism, nationalism and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs...” -1987 Philippine Constitution The National Service Training Program or NSTP is a program established by virtue of RA 9163 also known as “An Act Establishing the National Service Training Program for Tertiary Level Students” that was enacted on January 2002 to amend the expanded ROTC. AGeorded protest insise and outsidBithy lemitory of th: State This program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and _—_ defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components namely: (1) Reserved Officer Training Corps, (2) Civic Welfare Training Service, and (3) Literacy Training Service. Its various components are specially designed to enhance the youth's active contribution to the general welfare. Tertiary level students, male and female, of any baccalaureate degree course or at least two (2)-year technical-vocational courses in public and private educational institutions shall be required to complete one (1) of the NSTP components as requisite for graduation. Each NSTP program components shall be undertaken for an academic period of two (2) semesters for 54 to 90 training hours and shall be credited for 3 units per semester. CIVIC WELFARE TRAINING SERVICE (CWTS) Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) isa civic and defense preparedness training that involves programs or activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry. This program component highlights the role of the youth in community development. Graduates of Civic Welfare Training Service component are enlisted automatically as members of the National Service Reserve Corps that can be tapped by the State for civic welfare activities in times of disaster and emergencies. Community development activities of Civic Welfare Training Service students may include: 1. Drug Education/Awareness Campaign 2. Health Promotional Activities (e.g. feeding program) 3. Environmental Protection/Preservation (e.g. tree planting & clean-up drive) 4. Entrepreneurship (e.g. livelihood education & financial literacy) 5. Culture/ Cultural preservation 6. Disaster preparedness/resiliency LITERACY TRAINING SERVICE (LTS) Literacy Training Service is a program designed to train students to become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth, and other segments of society in need of their service. LITERACY and NUMERACY SKILLS includes: 1. Basic reading and writing; Recognition of numbers; Financial Literacy; Health Literacy; Media and Information Literacy; Social Literacy; and others... CeO oa Graduates of Literacy Training Service component are enlisted automatically as members of the National Service Reserve Corps that can be tapped by the State for literacy activities especially in times of disaster and emergencies. Common activities for LTS include: * Advocacy/ Information Drive « Tutorial + — Skills development trainings * School Visit, etc. ROTC NAVY ‘The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) is one of the options given to students provided by the Reserve-Officers Training Corps (ROTC), like the army and air force, the navy also provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. ROTC ARMY The Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is one of the three components of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize them for national defense preparedness. It The Basic ROTC is a 2-semester program consisting of 120 hours credited for 15 days normally during weekends. Graduates of Basic ROTC may choose to pursue further military instructions and take the Advance ROTC Course. Students who will choose ROTC will take important lessons such as: Patriotism, Leadership and Development, Weapons Training and Familiarization Firing, Basic Survival Techniques, Map Reading and Land Navigation, and Disaster Preparedness/ Rescue and Relief Operations. Moreover, student-cadets are also expected to perform challenging activities like Agility Training (e.g. wall and rope climbing, and rappelling), and Rifle and Pistol Shooting Qualified advance ROTC Cadets may enjoy the following incentives: -Philippine Army Advance ROTC Cash Incentives from Php 10,000 to Php 15,000 per semester. -Subsistence Allowance of Php 90 per training day. -The Army Reserve Command shall provide initial clothing and Individual equipment such as battle dress uniform with combat shoes, ball cap, socks, garrison belt, pistol belt and etc. -Access to AFP Commissary and Exchange Stores -Free hospitalization when injury / sickness is incurred during training days. After Graduation from ROTC, you will be automatically incorporated into the AFP Reserve Force or may join the Regular Force of AFP. Basic ROTC graduates become Enlisted Reservist while Advance ROTC and Probationary Officer Training Course (POTC) graduates become Reservist Officers and can be called to active duty or ordered to duty in the Regular Force.
