A boutique consulting firm providing among other services, assistance in executi
ve management, project management, restructuring and turnaround activities, and
customized technology solutions. Primary area of focus is project management an
d turnaround/trouble company assistance. Significant projects include:
2008 to 2010 -- ABG Marketing and Business Communications (Mira Loma, California
), Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer -- Large regional printing
and communications company experiencing financial and cash flow issues. Respon
sibilities include managing a 6 person accounting department and a 3 person proc
urement department. Participate on the executive council. Functional areas inc
lude cost accounting, budget and reporting, accounts payable, billing and collec
tion, payroll accounting, treasury, purchasing, vendor sourcing and facilities m
anagement. Manage relationships with investors including the largest investor,
a $1.0 billion hedge fund. Also manage banking relationships and legal relation
ships.
2005 to 2007 -- Veterinary Pet Insurance Company (Brea, California), Interim Chi
ef Financial Officer & Senior Claims Executive -- The largest underwriter of acc
ident and health insurance for pets in the U.S. Private company with majority o
wnership by Scottsdale Insurance Company. Responsibilities included all financi
al functions encompassing approximately 23 people, including treasury and cash m
anagement, statutory financial reporting, actuarial analysis (including loss res
erve and pricing analysis), budget development and monitoring, coordination with
auditors (independent and Department of Insurance). Responsible for developmen
t of Business Intelligence (data warehouse) unit and related reports and metrics
required by executive leadership. Participated on executive management team an
d worked closely with CEO to develop business strategies. Duties also included
managing the Company's claims processing departments which included approximatel
y 70 people. In order to respond to slow claims processing times, established C
ompany's first satellite office in Denver, Colorado of approximately 20 people d
edicated to claims processing. Interacted with Board of Directors and stockhold
ers. Actively interacted with the majority owner, Scottsdale Insurance Company,
and its parent, Nationwide Insurance Group. Also communicated with and respond
ed to Department of Insurance requests.
1999 to 2000 -- Superior National Insurance Group, Inc. (Calabasas, California),
Interim Chief Financial Officer -- At the time, the largest independent workers
' compensation insurance company in California considered to be a comparably tec
hnologically advanced insurance company. Responsibilities included all financia
l areas including treasury, premium accounting, payroll accounting, accounts pay
able, budget and planning, financial reporting and actuarial analysis. Particip
ated on executive management team with Chairman, CEO, and COO. Also had respons
ibility for information technology departments. Oversaw operations encompassing
approximately 400 people in multiple locations. Interacted with Board of Direc
tors, stockholders, investors, bank syndicate, external auditors and regulatory
examiners. Also responded to requests of the Department of Insurance and the ra
ting agencies, namely AM Best, Moody's and Standard & Poors.

ign, develop and implement an integrated processing system for Reinsurance Solut
ions International (RSI), a property/casualty ceded reinsurance processing joint
