TRANSEASTERN HOMES, Coral Springs, FL 2005 to 2006


Field Trainer / Consultant
Designed a builder training program to position this construction firm to hire n
on-construction professionals and develop them into builders supervisors coordin
ating the trades, conducting inspections, and managing project schedules. Incorp
orating such professionals into the organization aimed to streamline processes,
avoid costly errors, reduce rework and improve overall productivity. Researched
building techniques and best practices, and surveyed key internal stakeholders t
o identify roadblocks and issue recommendations. Disseminated the program to the
Project Managers by demonstrating the benefits it would mean for their day-to-d
ay jobs.
CITY OF RICHMOND, Richmond, VA 1998 to 2005
Human Resource Consultant
Joined the organization to assess its training needs, as the City faced an inord
inate amount of grievances that cost senior managers time and thousands of dolla
rs worth of labor spent on issues other than City strategic initiatives. Identif
ied areas for managerial improvement, and built comprehensive training for manag
ers and supervisors. Also consulted with Directors and Agency Heads. Subsequentl
y advanced to full-time employee status, focusing on compensation, compiling sur
vey data and issuing recommendations, and mentoring a new generalist who was to
become the compensation lead. Also acted as mediator for the City of Richmond, S
tate of Virginia in Chesterfield and Hanover Counties.
X Designed management training on strategic business planning and process develo
pment so management could consistently achieve strategic goals, reduce delays an
d meet deadlines.
X Developed and facilitated training modules including Team Building, Succession
Planning, Customer Service, Leadership Development, and Planning for Change.
V Evaluated training at 90 days to find that grievances declined 80%, amounting
to a nearly $900K savings.
X Reviewed job classifications and reduced 600 titles to 400, to remediate up to
$20K pay differentials among employees holding different titles but performing
identical tasks.

t on the time they felt was required.

nd to gain their buy-in, solicited their input in outlining new job descriptions

V Out of 2,500 employees, only 3 requested further review of their reclassificat

V Built in merit bonuses, but kept salary flat under this reclassification syste
m, when the prior structure would have provided a 4% annual increase.
