I am a proven leader/manager able to direct multiple priorities and varying func
tions while maintaining a commitment to quality and service. I have excellent i
nterpersonal skills, working with all levels of personnel from field staff to di
vision heads to chief executive officers and political leaders. In addition, I
have well developed communications skills from years of private consulting and p
ublic service as a Director of Transportation.
I have over 25 years of experience in managing personnel, budgets, policy and pr
ojects. A summary of this experience includes:
* Opened new business region for multinational consulting firm with expansion of
work for existing clients and adding new clients;
* Started successful partnership LLC for development/redevelopment of commercial
sites in multiple counties, including contract negotiations, finance, cash flow
, and due diligence;
* Director of Transportation Department for a fast-growing county, including tra
ffic management, capital program development, field operations, land acquisition

POSITION DETAILS

2008 to Present (International Design/Consulting Firm)


Branch Manager. Opened new office and region for international consulting firm.
Researched project leads, developed strong positive relationships with existin
g and prospective clients, wrote and won design services contracts. Developed k
ey client into "top 10" client for the firm. Secured eight new general services
contracts for key new client. Presented technical qualifications for multiple
clients and projects ranging from intersection reconstruction to major thorough
fare construction design. Worked with multiple government entities to resolve i
ssues, expedite designs, assist political leaders and assist community groups.

2007 to Present K2M COMMERCIAL, LLC


Managing Partner. Started multi-county, commercial, land development group with
two partners. Developed and redeveloped commercial projects for local to nation
al banks and high-end retail clients. Development work included identifying pro
jects, contract negotiations, due diligence, client-user negotiations, site plan
ning, working with consultants and governments for development approval, project
budgeting, construction planning, leasing and sales negotiations.

1995 to 2007 MANATEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT


Director of Transportation, Manatee County, Florida. Full responsibility and au
thority for all transportation engineering, traffic management, highway field op
erations, storm water system management, capital improvement program development
, land acquisition and county fleet services. Work previously included all tran
sit and para-transit services. This includes responsibility for all budgets, de
partment policy and personnel management. Direct a staff of over 230 profession
al and non-professional personnel.
Manatee County is a fast growing urban/rural mix county with 300,000 full time r
esidents plus 100,000 seasonal residents. The County Transportation Department
maintains approximately 1000 center-line miles of road and hundreds of miles of
canals.

Duties and accomplishments included:


* Rebuilt Transportation Department after split from Public Works Department;
* Managed Department budget of over $30 million in operating expense and always
kept under annual budget limits;
* Held staff growth to 1 percent per year, with County population and road miles
increasing by 2 to 3 percent per year;
* Managed diverse staff of numerous professional specialties and field operation
s located in multiple sites;
* Defined and recommended capital transportation projects ranging from intersect
ion improvements, to new arterial road design and construction, to intra-state p
lanning;
* Advised Board of County Commissioners and other government agencies on transpo
rtation matters, and respond to Commission and citizen needs.
