10.1 By Councillor Burgess – Update Reports on Budget Cuts

“That the Council:

Notes findings from the Edinburgh People’s Survey that there is


uncertainty regarding the effects of budget cuts on Council services.

Calls for regular update reports from Directors to Policy and Strategy
Committee on:

(i) implementation of budget reductions on departmental spending


and the effect on services

(ii) how any effect on services could be effectively communicated to


citizens.”

10.2 By Councillor Buchan – Election Posters

“Council:

i) notes that several weeks following the Scottish Parliament


elections, there are still election posters for candidates of all
parties on street furniture;

ii) resolves to ban election posters for all future elections as they
are considered wasteful, not environmentally friendly and no
longer relevant in promoting elections.”

11.1 By Councillor Child – Promotion of ‘Edinburgh’s Seaside’ – for
remit to the Economic Development Committee

“Council

- notes that the Marine Conservation Society's (MCS) latest 'Good


Beach Guide' awards Portobello Central (James Street) the highest
level award of 'MCS recommended' and also notes that seven of East
Lothian's Beaches have been given Seaside Awards by Keep Scotland
Beautiful this year; and

- calls for a report on how the Council can secure a Seaside Award for
Portobello and market and promote 'Edinburgh's Seaside' more widely
within Edinburgh and beyond.”
