Present Simple:
Se utiliza para una acción que se habitual en el presente, o una
verdad universal.
Forma Afirmativa:
The doctor examines patients carefully.
(El doctor examina a los pacientes cuidadosamente.)
➔ Si el sujeto de la oración es de la tercera persona del singular:
El verbo termina en -s o -es
Como en “examines”

Doctors examine patients carefully.


(Los doctores examinan a los pacientes cuidadosamente.)
➔ Si el sujeto de la oración es plural:
El verbo va en infinitivo, es decir en su forma base. No se le agrega
ninguna terminación.
Forma Negativa:
The doctor doesn’t examine patients carefully.
(El doctor no examina a los pacientes cuidadosamente.)
➔ Si el sujeto de la oración es de la tercera persona del singular:
Se niega con la palabra doesn’t (o does not) antes del verbo.

O bien,
Doctors don’t examine patients carefully.
(Los doctores no examinan a los pacientes cuidadosamente.)
➔ Si el sujeto de la oración es de la tercera persona del plural:
Se niega con la palabra don’t (o do not) antes del verbo.
Past Simple:

Se utiliza para una acción o evento en el pasado:

Forma Afirmativa:
Yesterday the doctor examined the patient.
(El doctor examinó al paciente.)
➔ Si el verbo es regular:
El verbo termina en -ed
Como en “examined”

Doctors wrote a report about the patient.


(Los doctores escribieron un informe acerca del paciente.)
➔ Si el verbo es irregular:
Cambia toda la palabra, no tiene una terminación en particular.
Como write cambia a wrote. (Se debe buscar en la lista de verbos
irregulares, la segunda columna).

Forma Negativa:

The doctor didn’t examine the patient yesterday.


(El doctor no examinó al paciente ayer.)
➔ Ya sea el verbo regular o irregular:
Se niega con la palabra didn’t (o did not) antes del verbo.
Future Simple:

Se utiliza para una acción o evento en el futuro:

Forma Afirmativa:
Tomorrow the doctor will examine the patient.
(mañana el doctor examinará al paciente.)

Se forma anteponiendo Will al verbo en infinitivo.

Forma Negativa:

The doctor won´t examine the patient tomorrow.


(El doctor no examinará al paciente mañana.)
Se niega con la palabra won’t (o will not) antes del verbo.

Present Continuous:

Se utiliza para una acción que está en progreso en el presente,


en el momento en que se habla.

Forma Afirmativa:
The doctor is examining the patient at this moment.
(El doctor está examinando al paciente en este momento)
Se forma con una forma del verbo to be en presente (am, is o are) y el
verbo principal terminado en -ing
Como en “is examining”

Forma Negativa:

The doctor isn’t examining the patient at this moment


(El doctor no está examinando al paciente en este momento.)
Se niega con la palabra con la negación del verbo to be (am not, isn’t/
is not, aren´t/ are not) antes del verbo principal.

Past Continuous:

Se utiliza para una acción que estaba en progreso en un


momento específico del pasado.

Forma Afirmativa:
At this time yesterday the doctor was examining the patient.
(A esta hora ayer el doctor estaba examinando al paciente)
Se forma con una forma del verbo to be en pasado (was o were) y el
verbo principal terminado en -ing
Como en “was examining”

Forma Negativa:
At this time yesterday the doctor wasn’t examining the patient.
(Ayer a esta hora el doctor no estaba examinando al paciente.)
Se niega con la palabra con la negación del verbo to be (was not /
wasn’t, weren’t / were not) antes del verbo principal.

Future Continuous:

Se utiliza para una acción que estará en progreso en un


momento específico del futuro.

Forma Afirmativa:
At this time tomorrow the doctor will be examining the patient.
(A esta hora mañana el doctor estará examinando al paciente)
Se forma con el verbo to be en futuro (will be) y el verbo principal
terminado en -ing
Como en “will be examining”

Forma Negativa:

At this time tomorrow the doctor will not be examining the patient.
(Ayer a esta hora el doctor no estará examinando al paciente.)
Se niega con la palabra con la negación del verbo to be (Will not be o
won’t be) antes del verbo principal.
