Admiral Walden L. Ainsworth and
consisted of the U.S. light cruisers,
USS Honolulu, St. Luis, and Royal New
Zealand’s Navy light cruiser, HMNZS
Leander, and the destroyers, USS
Nicholas, O’Bannon, Taylor, Jenkins,
Radford, Ralph Talbot, Buchanan,
Maury, Woodworth, and Gwin. The
Japanese reinforcement force was
commanded by Rear Admiral Shunji
Izaki, consisting of the light cruiser,
Jintsu, the destroyers, Mikazuki,
Yukikaze, Hamakaze, Kiyonami and
Yugure, and the destroyers transports,
Satsuki, Minazuki, Yunagi, and
Matsukaze.

internment camp in Manzanar are ecstatic and rooting
from their barracks as they hear about the game from the
radios. Mami Nanami is a true American League fan and
has watched every game. Though she will not be able to
observe this one, she is still excited and grateful that she
can listen to it over the radio. "I have been watching these
games every year, and they're just so entertaining! The
previous game last year had me jumping out of my seat
every minute!" Nanami says. This game will definitely be
one to remember, and one definitely worth checking out.
