VICKERS INCORPORATED HYDRAULIC FLUID RECOMMENDATIONS: AGRICULTURAL, CONSTRUCTION, EARTHMOVING, MATERIAL HANDLING AND OTHER MOBILE MACHINI uL-TYRE Gils used in hydraulic systems perform the dual function of iubriettion and transmission of power. The MS Classification i the Hey to selection of lls containing {be typeof compounding that vill extond the operating life ofthe hydric system. Oils meeting Diesel engine requirements, DG. through DS classifications, may or fay aot have the type of compounding desired for high performance ysrauli systems ‘The following table summarizes the oll tres (vis coolly and service classification) that are recommended {or use with Vickers equipment. This selection is ost Important and should be made with considerable care. For optimam operation, f'taximum ofl viscosity of 4000 $8U atthe low temper fure start-up condition and’ miniam cll viscosity of 60 SU for Ue sustalaed high temperature operating con dition are recommended, (Good olla are the most economical. After cleaning, apply cup grease to jaws, pins, ring gear and top seal Hazards of steam cleaning Tong Head are: Water will be forced by top seal into transmission, ‘also removing all lubricants from top seal and causing it to harden. If steam cleaning is used, Guide Bell should be bolted in place and after cleaning, the transmission should be checked for the presence of water. CAUTION, keep hands clear of Tong Head while Tongs are in operation. Caution should be taken ‘while operating this equipment, as parts inside the Tong Head rotate. Do nwt craw! or stand under Tongs as hydraulic line could be cut or broken and Tongs will fall. Do not operate Power Tongs until the Anchor Arm is attached to the Tong and Anchor Post.
