Self-employed 116
Unemployed 132
TOTAL 223

A high rate of population growth, lack of access to land, insufficient job creation
in industry, and a history of inappropriate economic policies contributed to high
unemployment and underemployment and a relatively high proportion of the labor force.
Unemployment has remained high in the Philippines, at almost twice the level of
neighboring countries, despite relatively fast employment growth in the past decade.
Employment growth was not sufficient to reduce unemployment because of rapid
population growth and increased labor force participation. In Davao City, it requires at
least a college graduate to acquire a work. Even a college graduate finds it crucial to have
a job.
The graph above, from Purok 16, Lower Lubogan,Toril Davao City shows a
single specimen to the statement. Even if the gap between Employed, Self Employed and
Unemployed, is not that far from each other, figures will always does the talking. On the
other hand, if we sum up the Employed and Self-Employed, then that is another story for
it will outweigh the Unemployed resulting to a good employment status of the whole
community.
It is a stigma in the Philippine settings that once someone graduated from college,
he already has the ticket to work and have a job. At this moment where job is scarce,
many Filipinos grab the chance of having a job even if it is out of their field. For as long
as they can earn money, it is way better than to not have something for living.
The graph above describes the statement broadly. 9% only took the place of those
whose works are in line to their graduated course and a big part of the whole which is
91% covered those who chose to settle in jobs that are not related to their preference.
Monthly Income

Analysis:

The figure above shows that the average income of individuals, which most 19% of the
individual earns 15,000 and above per month, while 17% of an individual earns 7,000-
8,999 per month, other individual earns 16% of 5,000-6999 per month, 13% of the
individuals earns 3,000-4,999, who are in the blue collar job. The income per month
gives the family to use for their daily needs and for their expenses everyday.
Every Filipino household has expenses to have their income be allotted for. Based on the
survey we conducted on Purok 16, Brgy. Lubogan, people prioritize their budget for
food, since it is one of the physiological needs of human being. As majority of the family
respondents have more family members. The more family members mean more stomachs
to feed. Having their income to be considered, 25%, 34 families out of 134 have 2,000-
3,000 budget for food. Next priorities are electricity, water, education and health
respectively.

Religion influences the lifestyle and health, beliefs and practices of an individual.
In this case, majority are Catholic who has the same beliefs and practices. The
community will have no problems with regard to religion conflicts. Even though majority
is Catholic, minority has respect of the community on their beliefs and practices.
