Dona i Ocell by Joan Miró

This large concrete statue by Joan Miró is an abstract

sculpture of a woman and a bird. The sculpture uses
materials typical of the Catalan style: Miró used mainly
primary colors on this sculpture. This piece is not
representational as Miró decided at an early age to
abandon exact imagery. He felt it to be bourgeois which
promoted wealthy society. Miró is greatly influenced by
nature and especially the sky. He shows his love for
nature through color and the subject matter of a woman
and a bird; free to fly the sky. This abstract sculpture may
appear different to different people. Some may not see a
woman but instead a symbol of masculinity. That is the
beauty of abstract; it holds different meaning for different
people.
