1. DESCRIPTION
The GSM-VAC2 is a new kind of a mobile voice and SMS dialling system. The phone
memory in the form of a SIM card is used either to store telephone numbers or to program
certain parameters. It is possible to record four different messages and send them to 10
different telephone numbers. The alarm inputs can be normal open (N.O.) and are thus
triggered by a positive (+12V) or a negative pulse (GND); or they can be normal close
(+12V or GND lost). Each alarm input enables us to send a pre-recorded voice message,
an SMS or both.
The GSM-VAC2 has also four outputs giving the user the ability to control a certain system
from distance.
The GSM-VAC2 mobile unit can provide us with different information on the state of the
alarm mounted on the protected object. It can also transmit other useful information
important for operating applications such as:
• vending machines
• various engines out of the reach of manual operation
• home care or emergency alarm
• car and boat alarm transmitter
• temperature regulation by means of a sensor

4. GSM-VAC2 PROGRAMMING MODE
All data, programming values and telephone numbers need to be stored in the phone book
located on the SIM card. Therefore the use of a personal mobile phone is recommended.
Example: We wish to send a voice and an SMS message to the first telephone number,
only a voice message to the second one and only an SMS message to the third one. (See
the table below.)

4.3
Alarm and reset input can be triggered in 4 different ways. The status of the input can either be
normally closed (N.C) or normally open (N.O.) with positive (+ 12V) or negative (GND) voltage.
A text message can also be sent when the input returns to the non alarm state. To get return SMS
use IP=4,5 or 6.
_____________________________________________________________________________
8
5.4 HOW TO PROGRAM OUTPUT STATUS
The GSM-VAC2 device has four open collector outputs and each of them can be
programmed through network in a different way: as a bi-stable or mono-stable output. One
of them can be programmed so as to signal certain failure on the main device or to notify
us about the expiring validity of the SIM card.
_____________________________________________________________________________
9
5.5 INPUTS AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS LINKING
It is possible to link each number or any combination of numbers to any of the four corresponding
inputs. The link LK0 is specially designed for SIM card refill SMS warning message.
5.5.1 PROGRAMMING TABLE FOR LINKING THE INPUTS AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS
Example: Alarm on the first input should call the first, the third and the fourth telephone
number.
The activation of the dialling procedure can be for a defined period of time (maximum of
240 seconds) delayed on each alarm input. The default value is set to "0" – having no
delay before the beginning of the dialling procedure on all alarm inputs.
The period of time for the delay of each input varies from 0 to 240 seconds.

10
5.7 GSM-VAC2 SET-UP PARAMERTERS
• RED – repetition of calling sequences. With the number from 1 to 9 we define how
often the sequence is repeated in case the number is busy or not answered. The
default value is set to number “3”.
• CLP – hidden telephone number. This function (“0” value) is used in order to
conceal the telephone number of the device. The default value is set to “1” which
means that the number is displayed.
• RFL – SIM card validity. The period of valid operating time varies with different
GSM network providers. The value can be programmed between 1 – 36, whereas
days represent multiplication of the mentioned value by 10. The default value does
not presume any kind of expiry warning.
• RFT – Temporary validity of the SIM card. This function is pre–defined on the SIM
card memory from the micro controller on the SIM card location “98”. The user can
only change it when the RFL time is not regular (due to power failure or some other
constant operating mode ).
• PTM – A test SMS is sent periodically. The UNIT can send the test message in the
interval ranging from 1hour up to 240 hours.
Example: if the PTM value is set to 12, the numbers linked to “LK5” get a test
message every 12 hours.

11
The GSM-VAC2 can send a very short SMS message via each alarm input. The default
message is English, but it is possible to formulate the notice in any other language.
Different messages, being no longer than 18 characters, can be defined for each alarm
input. Between words it is necessary to use “_” instead of the “space” character.
Example: “ALARM_ON_INPUT”
Normally, when we want to store the SMS text, the telephone number needs to be
entered. Since the latter is required only because of the basic design of the phone book
memory, it is not important what kind of a number we enter.
_____________________________________________________________________________
12
The memory of each alarm input enables us to record our own voice message in the total
length of 10 seconds. The device is namely equipped with a microphone and a speaker,
giving us the option to listen to what we have recorded. The speaker can be switched off
by removing the jumper JP1 compound.
Recording process:
1. Press PLAY/REC key (1-4) and hold it as long as the LED3 display is lit.
2. Start speaking.
3. Release key – message recording process finished.
4. Check recorded message by quickly pressing the (1-4) key.
Erasing:
Press PLAY/REC key (1-4) and hold it as long as the LED3 display is lit, then stop
recording.
Follow the same procedure for all four messages.
7. START UP
• Insert SIM card to be used for GSM-VAC2 in your personal mobile phone.
• Enter telephone numbers and the required operating parameters in SIM memory
• Insert SIM card in the GSM module ON the GSM-VAC2 device.
• Connect alarm inputs and outputs
• Connect device to source voltage.
• Record voice messages.
• Wait until LED1 starts flashing.
• GSM-VAC2 s now ready to operate.
8. LED DISPLAY
LED1 –
Blue - Flashing: - Within GSM signal power. The number of flashes ranging from 1 (poor) to 5
(very good) shows quality of the GSM network signal
-
LED2 – Green - Flashing:

GSM-VAC2 PLUS new parameters description
OUTPUT ALARM – OA
If you want to activate a local alarm (siren) you can program any GSM-VAC2 PLUS output for this
function.
Type of the Output (ON/OFF or pulse time) is determinate with parameter OP (see the GSM-VAC2
user manual).
Example:
Input 1 (IN1) and Input2 (IN2) will activate the first Output (OUT1), Input 3 (IN3) will activate the
second Output (OUT2) and Input 4 (IN4) will activate the third output (OUT3).
It is possible to choose different combinations between outputs and inputs
*NOTE: The first digit is output number and the second must be always 1.
OA parameters programming by SMS
For the above example send the following SMS to GSM-VAC2 PLUS:
;OA1=11;OA2=11;OA3=21;OA4=31;
_____________________________________________________________________________
16
INPUT FILTER – IF
Parameter IF determinate length of the pulse, that is required to create the alarm. The pulse time can
be from 2 seconds up to 24 seconds.
Example:
Input filter 1 (IF1) will be 2 second and Input filter 2 (IF2) will be 24 seconds
For the above example send the following SMS to GSM-VAC2 PLUS:
;IF1=2;IF2=24;
_____________________________________________________________________________
17
- Trigger one of the GSM-VAC2 PLUS Output (parameter 1-4)
- Switch the system ON/OFF (parameter 0)
- System control with “Call –back” function (parameter 5)
-
NOTE: With one telephone number it is only possible to use one of these 3 functions!
When we use any of the CLIP function it is necessary to hang-up the call after the first ring.
TO parameters programming directly on SIM card
Example:
TO0 will trigger Out3, TO1 will switch the system ON/OFF and TO2 will make a call back.
For the above example send the following SMS to GSM-VAC2 PLUS:
;TO0:3=0779250299;TO1:0=0143756390;TO2:5=0779118671;
WARNING: In the previous version (GSM-VAC2) TL numbers (TL0..TL9) were the numbers to
call out (for alarm voice messages) AND the numbers for security access / remote control purposes.
In the GSM-VAC2+ TL numbers are ONLY the numbers to call out (for voice messages).
Only telephone numbers, stored into the phone book from TK0 – TK9 can enter the programming
and remote control of the GSM-VAC2+ (dialling the GSM-VAC2+ No. or sending the SMS).
_____________________________________________________________________________
18
Telephone numbers are divided in two groups:
TK0 – TK4 These telephone numbers have full access into programming and remote control mode;
TK5 –TK9…These telephone numbers can not access programming mode but they can use other
remote control functions;
Example:
You’d like to have 2 telephone numbers for full access and 2 telephone numbers for partly access:
Telephone numbers stored under TK0 and TK1 will have full access to the GSM-VAC2 PLUS and
telephone numbers stored under TK5 and TK6 will have only partly access to the GSM-VAC2+.
For the above example send the following SMS to GSM-VAC2 PLUS:
;TK0=077071347;TK1=077023222;TK5=077034040;TK6=077077170;
NOTE: Before programming the first TK number on the SIM, anyone can get into the GSM-
VAC2+ programming and remote mode but after TK programming only TK stored numbers!
LISTEN-IN MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY ADJUSTING - MIC
If we use the external Listen-In microphone or Duplex voice module HA200we can adjust the
sensitivity of the microphone from the level 0 (minimum) to the level 24 (maximum). The default
value is 5.

When you want to get the return message with the Output status you must press + before the
command. For example:
;+OUTX=1;
For the fist time programming we suggest to send the; PRALL; command to the GSM-VAC2
PLUS. On your mobile phone you’ll get back 12 SMS with all parameters. You can simply re-write
the parameters and resend the SMS back to GSM-VAC2 PLUS.
For Example:
_____________________________________________________________________________
22
The first SMS will be SMS with telephone numbers (TK0 –TK9). If the SIM card is empty you’ll
get following SMS:
You’d like to change the TK0 (0770 713 47), TK1 (0774236480) and TK2 (077125563)
If you put the “+” before SMS string than you’ll automatically get the return message with just
programming values.
Example:
SMS to GSM-VAC2+:
You can use the same programming procedure for all parameters.
It is also possible to change just a few different parameters with one SMS. Consider that the SMS
should not be longer than 160 characters (included space bar).
For example, you want to change the following parameters and you want to get the confirmation
SMS back:
TK1, IP1, IP2, OP3, OP4; IF1, LK1 and RED
;+TK1=077071347;IP1=1;IP2=1;OP3=15;IF1=120;LK1=1;RED=4;
Send the SMS to the GSM-VAC2+ telephone number and in a few seconds you will get the reply
SMS. The sentence of the SMS must be the same as the original you sent to the GSM-VAC2 +.

Receive revision of software and quality of signal (PRSQ)
Command: ;PRSQ;
When we send SMS with PRSQ command we receive revision of the device software and signal
quality. The signal is momentary, minimal, maximum and average. Form of SMS is like this:
P4+1.6m(300806)-SQ(5)=30, SQ MIN=21, SQ MAX=30, SQ AVE=25;
SQ(5) means momentary signal on VM5 (flashes of blue LED). Value 30 means the strength of
signal. This value is measured by GSM module. Value of the signal is between 1- 31, where 1
means the weakest signal and 31 the strongest signal.
MGT – message replay time
Is time in seconds, which tells us how long we will hear the voice message during alarm. Default
value is 20s.
Example:
If you want to get the confirmation SMS back then write “+” before SMS command:
;+ LK6=01;LK7=02;
Example:
If you want to get the confirmation SMS back then write “+” before SMS command:
;+ LK6=01;LK7=02;

“MAIN POWER LOST” FILTER PARAMETR - VMT
Parameter VMT determines the length of the pulse which is required to create the alarm after the
main power is lost. This time can be from 1 second up to 240 seconds. The default value is 5
seconds.
For example: When the GSM-VAC2+ is without main power supply more than 5 seconds (default)
then will send the SMS message with following text: “Main Power Lost”.
At the moment when the main power comes back the GSM-VAC2+ will send the SMS message
with following text: “Main Power OK”.
If you want to get the confirmation SMS back then write “+” before SMS command:
;+VMT=5;
“LOW BATTERY” FILTER PARAMETR - VBT
Parameter VBT determinate length of the pulse which is required to create the alarm after the power
of the battery is low and it is below 10,5V. This time can be from 1 second up to 240 seconds. The
default value is 10 seconds.
NOTE:
The “Low battery” will be detected when the GSM-VAC2+ operates only with back-up battery
and it is not connected on the Main Power Supply.
For example: When the voltage of the back up battery is less then 10,5V, the GSM-VAC2+ will
send the SMS message with the following text: “Low Battery”.
At the moment when the battery power will be higher then 10,5V the GSM-VAC2+ will send the
SMS message with the following text: “Low Battery OK”.

# 7 M A I N P O W R O K
# 8 B A T T E R Y L O W
# 9 B A T T E R Y O K
Normally, when we want to store the SMS text, the telephone number needs to be entered. Since
the latter is required only because of the basic design of the phone book memory, it is not important
what number we enter.
When we enter the number which is not equal to “0” this number will be pasted together with text
message.
“MAIN POWER LOST“ and “LOW BATTERY” text messages remote programming by SMS
For the upper example send the following SMS from the host phone to the GSM-VAC2+:
;#6MAIN POWER LOST=0; #7MAIN POWER OK=0; BATTERY LOW =0;BATTERY
OK=0;
If you want to get the confirmation SMS back then write “+” before SMS command:
;+#6MAIN POWER LOST=0; #7MAIN POWER OK=0; BATTERY LOW =0;BATTERY
