The sacred nature of the Quran as word of Allah, and proof of Tawhid, gave the
initial impetus to the great creative outburst of art and calligraphy which begin in the
Seventh Century C.E. Islamic art express expressions in colour, in line, in movement,
shape and sound. The aesthetic expression of Tawhid are abstraction, modular
structure, successive combination, repetition, dynamism and intricacy, all expressed in
the geometry of the spirit. From the simplest writing of the early Quran, when Islam and
Muslims traveled in every direction to different lands in time and space, and developed
many different Arabic scripts, the Kufi (angular), the Naskhi (rounded), Andalusi,

Arabic, it is the language of Muhammad, its prophet, the language in Islam's

sacred scripture, the Holy Quran that was discovered to him by Allah SWT, the

language of Muslims' devotion; and the language which binds Muslims of all times and

places together in a single solid brotherhood. Arabic is the general language of Islam.

Around 1400 years ago, the Prophet of Islam said, "God is Beautiful and Loves Beauty".

He also said, "God likes that when you do anything, you do it excellently." the

movement for Muslims' adornment and beautification of their places of worship, homes,

and even of articles in everyday use in daily life is provided by such hadith.

In Islamic principle of art such as drawing, an actual representation of nature

such as animal or tree, are forbidden as to protect the purity of Islam. Therefore, only

parts of the living things such as horns can be the motif of the drawing. In Islamic

calligraphy field, artist creatively draw their calligraphy using a shape of nature to show

their love to Islam.

The art of calligraphy was developed among them from early times to a very high

degree because of Muslims' deep value and love for the Quran. Throughout the Muslim

world, Quran verses decorate mosques, palaces and homes, businesses, and, in some

places, public areas especially the Muslim¶s. Often the calligraphy is done in conjunction

with decorative motifs, lovingly embellishing what is most sacred and precious. It gives

new ideas and development of Islamic calligraphy to new artist till today.
