College of Engineering Scholarships
Undergraduate Scholarships
The following scholarships are available to undergraduate students only. Most of these scholarships are
reserved for juniors and seniors in the College of Engineering. Freshmen will only be considered if they
have applied to USU as engineering majors. Applications for the following scholarships will be avail-
able in January at the College of Engineering Advising/Student Services website:

Engineering
Richard W. and Moonyeen R. Anderson Scholarships in
Engineering. Awarded annually and renewable for up to four
years. Scholars must be citizens of the United States and gradu-
ates of Box Elder County or Cache County high schools within
the State of Utah.
Baker/Hughes Engineering Scholarship. A tuition scholar-
ship to be awarded annually to an instate student enrolled in the
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.
J. Clair Batty Scholarship. Awarded to students having ma-
jors within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Depart-
ment. Recipients must have graduated from Uintah High School
and must be U.S. citizens. Amount varies annually.
Thomas A. Berghoff Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical
and Aerospace Engineering. Students chosen to receive this
scholarship based on their academic performance.
Jay R. Bingham Scholarships. Awarded to students majoring
in civil engineering. Amounts vary each year.
A. Alvin and Anna Beth Reeder Bishop Biological and Irri-
gation Engineering Scholarship. Awarded to junior or senior
students pursuing a degree within the Biological and Irrigation
Engineering Department.
James E. Brown Scholarship in Space Sciences, Space En-
gineering, and Aerospace Corporation Administration.
Awarded to undergraduate students in some aspect of space sci-
ences, space engineering, and aerospace corporation administra-
tion. The Huntsman School of Business and the colleges of
Engineering and Science take turns awarding this scholarship
each year.
Roy Bullen Memorial Fund for Engineering Students.
Available to aid undergraduate engineering students. Established
by the late Mrs. Bullen in honor of her husband after whom the
fund is named.
Michael B. Bylund Scholarship in Electrical Engineering.
Awarded to undergraduate electrical engineering students in their
junior or senior year.
CEE Faculty Scholarships. Awarded by the Department of
Civil and Environmental Engineering to students entering their ju-
nior or senior year. Amounts vary from year to year.
Jerry Christiansen Memorial Engineering Scholarship. Es-
tablished by Prof. and Mrs. Jerald E. Christiansen in memory of
his father, this fund is for students enrolled in the College of Engi-
neering.

Colonel Lewis A. Civille Scholarship. For engineering stu-
dents having previous military experience. Students are awarded
$2,500 per year.
Dr. and Mrs. Clayton Clark Engineering Scholarship. An-
nual grant to support needy students in electrical engineering.
Amount varies.
Blaine P. and Louise Christiansen Clyde Engineering
Scholarship Fund. The Clydes, alumni of USU, have established
these scholarships for students enrolled in the College of
Engineering who have financial need.
Calvin G. and Brigitta S. Clyde Scholarship. Awarded an-
nually to a student of native American ancestry and citizens of the
United States. Preference will be given to students studying civil
or environmental engineering. Other majors in the College of En-
gineering may qualify.
W.W. Clyde and Company Engineering Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of
Engineering.
Larry S. Cole Electrical Engineering Scholarship. To be
used for students in the electrical engineering professional pro-
gram.
The Philip S. Coolidge Memorial Scholarship. An endow-
ment from the Department of Biological and Irrigation Engi-
neering that gives a two-year upper-division scholarship to
students in the field. GPA must be at least 3.25. Established in
memory of USU student Philip S. Coolidge.
Don M. Corbett Scholarships. Awarded to entering freshman
women students in engineering by Mr. and Mrs. Corbett to en-
courage women in this field. About 10 scholarships are awarded
annually.
G. Walter Dansie Scholarship for Engineering Excellence.
Awarded to students demonstrating academic achievement and fi-
nancial need. Recipients must be U.S. citizens.
Charles Thirkell and Pearl Parkinson Darley Scholarship.
Awarded to continuing students or transfer students in civil engi-
neering. Amounts vary.
Lehi Davis Scholarship. For undergraduates enrolled in the
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering whose stud-
ies emphasize building structures.
Bertis L. and Anna E. Embry Scholarship. To be used for
students having a major within the Department of Biological and
Irrigation Engineering or the Department of Electrical and

Computer Engineering. One need-based scholarship given per de-
partment per year.
Sarah Ann Farley Memorial Scholarship. For women in en-
gineering who have completed their freshman engineering
coursework.
Forsgren Associates Scholarship in Civil and Environmen-
tal Engineering. Awarded annually to an outstanding student en-
rolled or to be enrolled at USU.
J. Wayne and Roberta H. Fronk Scholarship. For junior or
senior students having a major within the Department of
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and having demonstrated
financial need.
Charles Irving Frost Scholarship. Awarded to a civil engi-
neering major with demonstrated financial need.
Futura Industries Scholarship. For students having majors
within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.
Scholarship includes a summer internship.
Dee and Linda Hansen Scholarship in Civil and Environ-
mental Engineering. For juniors and seniors having a major
within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Richard W. and Ruth W. Harris Scholarship. Awarded to
U.S. citizens having a major within the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering. Students should demonstrate financial
need.
David B. Hofer Scholarship. Awarded to a junior or senior
with demonstrated financial need.
Clyde Herman Hoth Scholarship. Awarded to upper
classmen having a major within the Department of Engineering
and Technology Education. Students should demonstrate financial
need.
Industrial Technology Scholarships. One or more $500
scholarships given annually to students having a major within the
Department of Engineering and Technology Education.
Intermountain Power Agency Scholarship. Awarded to ju-
nior and senior students enrolled in the College of Engineering.
Amounts vary annually.
Keller-Bliesner Scholarship in the Department of Biologi-
cal and Irrigation Engineering. A two-year scholarship awarded
to a junior (or senior who is pursuing a five-year combined bache-
lor’s/master’s program) emphasizing irrigation engineering.
Frank Kelsey Memorial Aviation Scholarship in the De-
partment of Engineering and Technology Education. Awarded
to an undergraduate student enrolled in the flight training pro-
gram.
Emerson H. and Audrie M. Kennington Scholarship. For
any junior and senior students having majors within the Engineer-
ing and Technology Education Department.
Professor Harold R. Kepner Memorial Scholarship in En-
gineering. Awarded to a freshman or sophomore engineering stu-
dent of a minority group with a financial need and a demonstrated
scholastic ability.
William H. Kibbie Aviation Scholarship. Awarded to stu-
dents in the aviation technology—professional pilot major with
demonstrated need and significant progress in the program.
George A. and Ivalou Keller Lawrence Scholarships in
Civil and Environmental Engineering. Awarded annually on the
basis of academic performance and financial need.
Austin and Geniel Loveless Scholarship in Technology and
Industrial Education. Awarded during the semester in which the
recipient does student teaching.
George O. Matkin Scholarship in Civil and Environmental
Engineering. Awarded to students having majors within the Civil
and Environmental Engineering Department.
Mechanical Engineering Alumni and Faculty Scholarship.
Student must have a high GPA and be pursuing a degree in me-
chanical engineering.
Charles N. Merkley Memorial Scholarship in the Depart-
ment of Engineering and Technology Education. One or more
scholarships given annually to U.S. citizens demonstrating aca-
demic achievement and financial need.
Micron Technology, Inc. Scholarships. Awarded to juniors
or seniors majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineer-
ing, or mechanical engineering with a strong interest in related
research.
E. Joe and Charlotte Middlebrooks Scholarship. An annual
scholarship for a woman or minority engineering student.
David C. Miller and Robert M. Matich Scholarship.
Awarded to residents of California or Utah who have academic
merit and financial need.
David R. Miller Memorial Scholarship in Civil and Envi-
ronmental Engineering. One or more full tuition and fees schol-
arships given annually to undergraduate students. Preference will
be given to those with financial need.
William E. Mortimer Scholarships in Engineering and
Technology Education. Awarded to Utah resident students who
will be teaching in the fields of industrial and technical education.
Mountain View Engineering Inc. Scholarship. Awarded to
two juniors having majors within the Civil and Environmental En-
gineering Department. Recipients must be U.S. citizens. Each stu-
dent receives $2,000.
Henry J. and Rebecca Henderson Nelson Memorial Schol-
arship in Engineering. Established by Prof. and Mrs. Jerald E.
Christiansen in memory of her parents, this endowment is for stu-
dents enrolled in the College of Engineering.
Nielsen, Maxwell, Wangsgard Scholarship. Awarded annu-
ally to a student having a major within the Civil and Environmen-
tal Engineering Department. Student must be interested in
consulting engineering.
Nucor Scholarship. For students having a major within the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department or the Mechani-
cal and Aerospace Engineering Department. Includes a summer
internship.

Nucor Steel/Vulcraft Undergraduate Scholarship. Up to
four scholarships awarded annually to students enrolled in the De-
partment of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Includes a
summer internship.
Parker Hannifin Scholarship. One scholarship given annu-
ally to a junior or senior engineering student.
Jack B. and Bonnie F. Parson Scholarships in Engineering.
Grants awarded to students of at least sophomore status, who
show superior scholarship ability, a commitment to high social
and moral values, and financial need.
Dean F. and Bessie C. Peterson Scholarship in Engi-
neering. Available to students having a major within the Depart-
ment of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Harold and Else Peterson Scholarships. Awarded annually
on the basis of academic performance and financial need.
Donald H. and Annice B. Potter Scholarship in Engineer-
ing or Education. Given to engineering students every other year
during even-numbered years. Recipients must have graduated
from a Box Elder County high school, with preference given to
Bear River High School. Awarded to incoming freshmen.
Questar Corporation Scholarship. Awarded to an engineer-
ing student with financial need.
Ace and Arville Raymond Scholarship in Engineering.
Awarded annually to an outstanding and worthy undergraduate
enrolled in the College of Engineering.
Carlyle and Elliot Rich Scholarship. Awarded to students
having a major within the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering on the basis of academic achievement, superior po-
tential, and personal integrity.
Lowell R. and Afton T. Rich Scholarship in Civil and Envi-
ronmental Engineering. Awarded to undergraduate students.
Amount varies.
David Rider Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engi-
neering. Awarded annually to juniors and seniors on the basis of
financial need.
Rio Tinto Scholarships. Awarded to students who are study-
ing civil engineering, environmental engineering, or mechanical
engineering.
Harold W. and Helen Ritchey Engineering Scholarship.
Awarded to junior and senior students in engineering. Amounts
vary.
Larry E. Roberts Scholarship in Electrical Engineering.
One or more scholarships representing full tuition and fees for one
year for undergraduate students.

Rocky Mountain Power Foundation Scholarship. For stu-
dents enrolled in the College of Engineering. Amount varies an-
nually.
Peggy R. Roskelley Memorial Scholarship for Women. For
a female engineering student with financial need. Awarded to ju-
niors and seniors.
David G. Sant Engineering Scholarships. Scholarships for
undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Engineering.
Past recipients are encouraged to help the fund grow.
David G. Sant Franklin County Scholarship for Preston or
West Side High School Students. One or two freshman students
awarded a $2,500 scholarship to study engineering at Utah State
University.
David G. Sant Undergraduate Research Scholarship.
Awarded to an undergraduate student on the basis of his or her re-
search proposal, scholastic achievement, and potential for contri-
bution to one of the engineering fields.
Semnani Foundation Scholarship. Given to two women en-
rolled in the College of Engineering, with preference given to sin-
gle mothers.
Carl and Nadeane Spear Scholarship. Awarded to a junior
or senior student majoring in mechanical engineering.
Sidney R. Stock Scholarship in Electrical Engineering.
Given in memory of the founder of the department, this scholar-
ship is for students majoring in electrical engineering.
Ivan M. and Ruth C. Teuscher Memorial Scholarship. Tui-
tion scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Engi-
neering.
Edwin P. Van Leuven Scholarship. Awarded to students who
will be teaching in the fields of industrial and technical education.
Given by Mr. and Mrs. Van Leuven, leaders in this subject.
Carl R. Wallis Memorial Scholarships in Engineering and
Technology Education. Annual cash awards made to students
having a major within the Department of Engineering and Tech-
nology Education.
Lyman S. and Vivian B. Willardson Irrigation and Drain-
age Engineering Scholarship. Awarded to an undergraduate stu-
dent with an interest in a career in irrigation and drainage
engineering. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of need, not
academics.
Woodward-Clyde Engineering Scholarship. For undergrad-
uate students having a major within the Civil and Environmental
Engineering Department.
