The Republic of Indonesia expresses it deep concerns of the rising problem with the Middle East
countries. The Republic of Indonesia supports all international efforts for solving this crisis,
reaffirms its readiness for cooperation in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion to this crisis.

Indonesia is a developing country with where the economic sector is very significance and need
to be concerned related to the crisis that is happening in our fellow countries in the Middle East.

The sector that is really vital in Indonesia is industrial sector where around 25 millions people
are laying on this sector as their living. The industrial sector spreads not only in the massive
company but also for the home industry where our people commonly depends on.

To run the basic needs like electricity and transportation, Indonesia is also highly depending on
the gas and petroleum due to the usage of diesel power plants and the numerous of diesel
transportation as the main transportation facility in Indonesia. No wonder that the Republic of
Indonesia is consuming 1.500.000 bph for each year.

This recent months, as the arising of the crisis in our fellow Middle East countries, the price of
the petroleum also has been arising. We understand that this happen due to the inhibition of
mining activity that caused by political upheaval in the Middle East countries. This situation
creates the decreasing of production, causing scarcity and ended up in the arising of the prices.
This situation is really pushing the Republic of Indonesia because the price of petroleum is
reaching 106,97 USD ( March, 9th 2011 ) and the Republic of Indonesia may have problem in
order to fulfill our petroleum needs due to the budgetary matter.

So, in order to overcome this issue, the Republic of Indonesia has been doing the retrenchment of
energy and focusing on the national production as it is instructed by President of Indonesia,
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Moreover, in the spirit of friendship between Islamic countries,
Indonesia has already suggested the Middle East countries to settle the case immediately based
on the understanding between of what people want which are justice, democracy and the
supremacy of law.

Republic of Indonesia is somehow could understand about the crisis that arise in the Middle East
countries due to our personal trauma when the revolution in 1998 happened. We believe that we
can and we have to do something in order to overcome this situation so that the situation can be
under controlled and prevent another lost which is not only materially but also
sociologically.Due to this understanding, the Republic of Indonesia would like to proposed some
resolutions to overcome this issue:
1. United Nations should intervene the country when the political situation itself is
endangered the humanity. The intervene can be done through an effective mediation in
order to connect the government and the society. The United Nations also should give the
support to the Middle East countries considering the complication of problems that arise
in their country.
2. Put the understanding of the importance of democracy in a state to create stability of
governance
3. Emphasize and reaffirms the limitation of political movement in the states in order to
protect the civilians.

At this point, the Republic of Indonesia reaffirms its readiness in order to help the settlement of
this crisis. Meanwhile, in order to handle the needs of petroleum in Indonesia, we open ourselves
to any aid that might be given.

Honorable chair, fellow delegates:

The Republic of Indonesia uttered its deep condolences for what is currently happening in our
fellow Middle East countries. We, the Republic of Indonesia hopes that this crisis can be ended
soon by an effective mediation and support of the United Nations. The Republic of Indonesia has
learned from the trauma of its own revolution in 1998. But, by all times and support, Indonesia is
healing it and slowly but sure, we are walking onto the betterment. We believe that nobody
wants the crisis. Neither the government nor the society. We believe that what our fellow Middle
countries want is that they will, finally, walk onto betterment where we live in the peace and
prosperity. We, the UN, committed to help them by give the advice, support, and prod them in
order to reach the best solution on their case. Republic Indonesia will support any effort in order
to end this crisis at its best.

The Federation of Russia reaffirms its deep concern to the crisis that is recently arising in Japan.
May Japanese society always be strong in facing this crisis. Russia, with all sincerity is prepared
to provide assistance to alleviate the burden of Japan. Despite all the disagreements that took
place between the two countries, the Federation of Russia will help the Japanese as well as
possible because the spirit of humanity does not deserve to be sacrificed under any political
reason.

After the earthquake and tsunami stroke the eastern coastal of Japan, we can see that some
problem is now arising in Japan that should be overcame together in the name of humanity. The
earthquake and tsunami caused not only material loss but also immaterial loss. Immaterially,
there are 7,700 casualties, it also brought 2,612 people into injured while 11,651 is still missing.
Materially, it predicted that the loss that experienced by Japan is around 15 billion USD.
Furthermore, the industrial activities in Japan also dropped due to the lack of electric supply. We
also notice that the situation in Japan is also hard because the massive number of houses were on
fire, the transportation and communication systems were damaged, and recently, due to radiation
from the nuclear power plant, there is an indication that some agricultural products and food
products are being exposure by the radiation. This situation might caused the food crisis and also
endangered the healthiness of the people.

onsidering this situation, we believe that we should do something on order to overcome this
issue and relieve the burden of Japan.

Until now, the aids is keep coming to Japan from all over the world. UN also has already took
some actions. UN has already sent 60 SAR teams in the first week after the disaster happened.
UN also had sent the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and IAEA (International
Atomic Energy Agency) teams in order to overcome the disaster. The aid also comes from many
countries. Indonesia had already sent 10.000 sheets of blanket and donate 2 millions USD in
order to help the recovery. USA also had already sent 13.000 personels of SAR and also 15
millions USD for the recovery. The Federation of Russia also helped by sending the Ilyushin Il-
76 andid airplane to help the transportation and evacuation. It is a good relieve to see how a
disaster can actually unite the whole world.

As the department which is concerning on the humanitarian issues. We would like offer some
resolutions in order to overcome the humanitarian issue that caused by the disaster.

` Unite and promote to all country regarding the urgency of helping our fellow Japanese
people.
` Some countries that might have capability in the case of energy should help the energy
supply like what the Federation of Russia had already done by giving 6.000 megawatt of
energy supply for Japan. We believe that electricity supply would be very necessary
because the lack of electricity supply might start other problem chains in Japan. With
enough electric supply hopefully that the life in Japan will slowly get back on the track,
not only the daily life but also the industrial living therefore the economic issue will get
better.
onsidering the situation that arises in Japan, we believe that the current situation is surely a
hard situation for all people of Japan. Hopefully, with the spirit of humanity and the unity of the
world, let us do our best in order to overcome the crisis in Japan.
