Resumen
La Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (Academy) y la American Society for Parenteral and

Los adultos que carecen de las calorías, proteínas u otros nutrientes necesarios para el

Nuestro propósito es de nir la desnutrición de los adultos en todos los entornos. En ausencia

y la documentación de rutina del impacto negativo de la desnutrición en los resultados de

A largo plazo
Es necesario identi car los marcadores in amatorios y de desnutrición más útiles en la
documentación de enfermedades, afecciones o agudeza de la lesión. Un enfoque
estandarizado para el diagnóstico y una mayor uniformidad en la selección de descriptores de
diagnóstico (códigos) para documentar la presencia de desnutrición en adultos deberían
facilitar una mejor correlación entre las mejores prácticas relacionadas con la intervención y el
tratamiento, así como con los resultados previstos y la e cacia terapéutica, y servir como base
para la promoción en las áreas de políticas públicas, regulatorias y legislativas. Se deben

necesarios para mantener y nutrir con éxito a los pacientes al regresar a sus comunidades y
