Abstract— Online national polling presentation deals with
the present polling scenario in the country and how online
polling helps for making more voters to take part in the
voting .It also amplifies the pro’s and con’s of the system of
online national polling.

I. INTRODUCTION
The Online national polling has a purpose and scope. These
deal with the most important basis of the online voting
system and their need in present day elections.
A. Purpose
• The purpose of this system is to build a online
polling scenario where more and more voters are
able to cast their votes in case they are not able to
reach the polling stations. It ensures that even the
voters who are far away from their polling zone,
still can vote from that place.
• It can also help people cast their vote online even
when they are not in the country.
B. Scope
• Online National polling provides hassle free
environment to voters for practicing their right to
vote just by casting their votes online. Voting is
one of or the fundamental duties as a responsible
citizen of the country but it is seen that nowhere
around the world 100% people come to vote during
the elections in their territory. The candidates who
are competing in the elections try to bring as many
as possible voters under their influence by hook or
by crook.
II. ASPECTS OF ONLINE POLLING
• Offer of free convenience to voter from going to
any polling station.
• In the rural areas the influential people keep their
men at the polling booths to threaten the common
man to vote for them.
• There are many portions of the country like the
North – East where there is locally sponsored
terrorism, at such places the conditions are also not
very bright, so naturally people are afraid to come
out of their houses and to go to vote.
• Net savvy new generation want hassle free voting
system. Also the people in metros want a system
through which they can vote for their territory
without travelling.
• Keeping these above points in mind and to improve
the state of democracy in the country the online
polling system is developed.
• For the purpose of anonymity the identity is strictly
separated during the whole communication ( the
voting register knows the identity, the Ballot Box
does not)
A. The five main voting legislation principles for publicly
regulated elections are:
 Universality (everyone has the same rights to vote)
 Directness (everyone has to vote by himself
without deputies)
 Freedom (everyone should vote without impact
of any kind)
 Equality (everyone's vote has the same weight)
 Secrecy (everyone must cast his vote
unobserved)
B. Furthermore there are several auxiliary principles for
the voting act like:

 comprehensibility (All must be confronted with a

simple voting act)
  simultaneity (everyone must cast his vote in the • GUI is only in English
same period) • No guest facility
 free of charge (everyone's voting act must be free
of charge for the voter) • All poll workers MUST be trained on the system in
which they will assist.
• All devises must be tamper evident.
III. FUNCTIONAL & NON-FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• All devises must undergo a complete re-installation

• Voting: The main task of online national polling is VI. WORING OF THE SYSTEM
to design system which enables the general public
of the country to exercise their right to vote online.
An electoral roll, list of all eligible citizens who are
entitled to cast their vote in election, is displayed on
the HTML pages, and also the party manifestos.
• Polling information: All the information regarding
the polling and the candidates of the locale is given
directly to the public.
• Mobility of voting: The voter can now cast the vote
from anywhere in the world for his locale .This also
saves time and money to the concerned
government.
• Counting of votes: The votes are directly stored into
the database which can further be retrieved by the
authorities or administrators by just passing one
query into the database with authentication.

B. Non-functional Requirements
• More easy and quick management: The data is
stored at single place and security firewalls can be
provided so that its management is easy.
• General awareness: Through this we can also
create general awareness among the people and also
tell them why they MUST exercise their right to
vote for the welfare of the country. This can be
done by displaying the videos, spreading
information about the causes and effects of people
practicing their votes. It also awares the general
public on measures that have to be taken while
choosing a candidate to be their representative in
the legislative assembly.
• Security: The data including the candidate list and
voter registration are kept secret by efficient
management provided by DB2 Express-C.
• Availability: The system is designed in such a way
that it provides 24 * 7 availability to the users.
IV. USER CHARECTERISTICS
• The user should be aware of the normal internet
usage and comfortable with the browser interface.
• He should be aware of the general voting trend of
the country .The user need not to know about the
internet structure of the java environment and
working.
V. CONSTRAINTS
• Elections CAN exist on more than one day
 • All citizens of India who are above 18 years of age
as on 1st January of the year for which the electoral
roll is prepared are entitled to be registered as a
voter in the constituency where he or she ordinarily
resides.

VII. ORGANIZING STRUCTURE

• Only 50.3% votes are polled in the previous

elections, which states the fact that still half of the
voters need to exercise their right to vote .

•India is the largest democratic country in the

world .The right to vote and most importantly the
exercise of the franchise is at the heart of the
democracy .We, the people, through this exercise
have the ultimate power to shape the destiny of the
country by electing the representatives who run the
