1) An employee has misplaced some financial records from the school district’s purchasing department.

He
knows that Schools A, B, and C all bought the same kinds of scientific calculators, computers, and printers.
School A bought 60 calculators, 5 computers, and 1 printer for $8100; School B bought 90 calculators, 6
computers, and no printers for $9525; School C bought 100 calculators, 10 computers, and 3 printers for
$16,300. With this information, find the cost of each piece of equipment.
2) A piece of rod, 20 cm. long is to be cut into three parts. The longest part is equal to the sum of the two
remaining parts. The product of the shorter part is one more than twice the longest part. Find the
measurement of each part.
3) The sum of three angles is 180 o. The sum of the smallest angle and the largest angle is 110 o, and the sum
of the two smaller angles is 100o. Find the three angles.
4) Three discs are tangent externally. The distances between their centres are 23 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm. Find
their radii.
5) A grain dealer sold to one customer 8 bushels of barley, 5 of millet, and 7 of rice, for P13.80. To another, 5
of barley, 6 of millet, and 7 of rice, for P12.50; and to a third, 4 of barley, 9 of millet, and 5 of rice for
P13.00. What was the price per bushel of each kind of grains?
6) A piece of wooden stick, 44 cm long, is to be sawed into 3 parts. The longest part is 4 cm shorter than the
sum of the lengths of the two other parts. The part of medium length if a cm longer, equals half the value
of the sum of the longest and shortest parts. Find each length.
7) Two coins are tangent to a third coin internally and are tangent to each other externally. The distances are
14 mm, 7 mm, and 5mm. find their radii.
8) A collection of 1¢s(pennies), 5¢s(nickels), and 10¢s(dimes) totals P2.12. The total number of coins is 42,
and there are twice as many 5¢s (nickels) as 10¢s (dimes). How many of each kind are there?
9) A man has three sums of money invested, one at 4 %, one at 5%, and one at 3%. His total yearly income
from the three investments is P1400. The last investment yields P100 more per year than the other two
combined. If he could receive 1% more on each investment his annual income would be increased by
P400. How does he have invested at each rate?
10) There are three numbers whose sum is 38. The sum of one-half of the first, one-third of the second and
one-fourth of the third is 12. The sum of one-third of the first, one-fourth of the second, and one-fifth of
the third is 9. What are the numbers?

1) Show that sin (3π/2-θ) ≡ -cosθ.

2) Express the term sin (θ – π/4) in terms of the functions of θ only.
3) Compute cos π/12 using identities.
4) Compute sin 7π/12 from the functions of π/3 and π/4.
5) Find the exact value of sine of 5π/12 by setting α=π/4 and β=π/6.
6) Find the exact value of cosine of 11π/12 by setting α=3π/4 and β=π/6.
7) Show that sin (π + θ) ≡ -sinθ.
8) Show that cos (3π/2 + θ) ≡ sinθ.
9) Show that tan (θ + π) ≡ tan θ.
