across a range of industries and has a lot of experience within the manufacturing

Professor and Lawrence Bloomberg Chair in Accountancy,

Dr. Magnan is a Professor and the Lawrence Bloomberg Chair in Accountancy. He


has more than 20 years of professional experience. His teaching interests include
financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions and management control. He has taught
in many Canadian and European universities at the B.Comm., MBA, EMBA and Ph.D.
levels, and has been involved in professional development and teaching. Dr. Magnan`s research activities
encompass financial statement analysis, corporate disclosure strategies, governance, performance
management as well as ethics. He is the author or coauthor of more than 80 journal publications and
has given numerous presentations and workshops in North America, Europe and Asia. He is currently
the Editor in Chief of Contemporary Accounting Research and a member of the Editorial Board of CA

Michael McIntyre is an Associate Professor, Finance at the Sprott School of


Business. He has experience teaching in Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D.
programs, including both offshore and executive programs. In addition to teaching,
Michael is an active researcher in the areas of corporate governance and derivative
securities. He uses his foundation in option theoretic techniques and proprietary
software to advise deposit insurers around the world on a variety of policy issues,

just starting out in corporate finance. Either way, they will provide you with a foundation in

Module 3 – Debt and Equity brings together key principles to provide you with a solid framework
in understanding how and why companies raise finance.

Module 4 – Changes in Control combines many of the previous techniques and skills to help you
understand how companies are bought, sold and merged under a variety of circumstances.

leveraged or management buyout, takeover, restructuring, etc.)
u Identify and assess issues that arise from change in control transactions (eg, structure,

Module 1 – Changes in Control and Restructuring goes beyond the techniques and skills learned in the
Intermediate Stage, and provides you with an in-depth look at the different kinds of changes in control
and restructurings in use today.

address M&A specifically.

u Advise on all the aspects of an M&A transaction (eg, valuation/synergy, risks, due diligence,

into more complex issues around debt and equity.
