Reflection: (The relationship between the environment and the armed conflict
in Colombia).
Ecosystems are victims of conflict, not indirect actors. This statement is based
on the clear and distinct evidence provided by the cases seen. The
deterioration of water resources, the reduction of forests and their consequent
disappearance, as a result of indiscriminate logging and the eradication of
illegal crops, the harshness of the biodiversity that they harbor, due to their
destruction and possible extinction. In addition to the above, there is the
exploitation of non-renewable natural resources such as gold and emeralds to
sustain the war. The environment suffers from war, but does not participate in
it as a trigger for it. It is a sophistry of distraction, because although the
conflict takes place there and based on its assets it is sustained in the long
term, it is not concluded by this that it is the key element that propitiates it.
