Evidencia 2: Describing and comparing products

Conocer un producto es importante a la hora de distribuirlo y para describirlo en

inglés se necesita tener un buen conocimiento sobre el uso de los adjetivos y su
correcta posición en una oración, ya que estos adoptan un orden específico de
acuerdo con la característica que describen.

Adicionalmente, además de conocer de manera interna los productos de la

empresa a la cual se pertenece es necesario conocer los de la competencia. Por
ende, si se pretende expresar las ventajas de un producto para clientes de habla
inglesa, se debe tener en cuenta las estructuras relacionadas con los
comparativos y superlativos en dicho idioma.

Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, para el desarrollo de esta evidencia, usted debe

escuchar un clip de audio en el que se presenta la descripción de 3 modelos
diferentes de un producto (sillas de trabajo para oficinas). Este clip de audio se
encuentra disponible adjunto al enlace de envío de esta evidencia bajo el nombre
de “Products review”. Descárguelo y guárdelo en su equipo para que pueda
escucharlo las veces que lo requiera.

Luego, con base en la información presentada para cada producto, desarrolle los
siguientes ítems.

3. Write the right comparative and superlative forms for each adjective in the
following sentences:

a. The Modern Computer Chair is  cheaper (cheap) than the Corvus Mid-
century Chair. But the Hodedah Office Chair is the cheapest (cheap) of the
three chair models.
b. The Modern Computer Chair has a longer (large) weight capacity than the
Hodedah Office Chair.
c. The Corvus Mid-century Chair has the longest (large) weight capacity of the
three.

 4. If the company you work for wanted to commercialize one of these office
chair models, which one do you consider would be the best chair model for
your company to make a profit? Why?

Write 2 - 3 paragraphs stating your opinion regarding which chair model you
consider is the best one and explain the reasons you have to consider so.
Remember to use the vocabulary for expressing opinions you can find in the
supplementary material.

When writing the paragraphs, don´t forget to provide information related to:

 Product differences compared to other products of the same type

I think that the best chair for the company is model 1, because it has more
warranty time, it has 360 degrees of rotation, and although it is the most expensive
chair the materials are of better quality. This chair is not the heaviest, but I think it
has good resistance. This model does not have a wide variety of colors, but in my
opinion the color black is ideal for the office.

I made a comparison with the other two chair models, but in reality they do not
convince me first in terms of prices because I relate them more for the warranty
time and it is shorter and therefore it is cheaper, but I am interested in having more
guarantee because this way the chairs can last longer and this reduces costs of
repair or purchase of new chairs.

Another advantage that I found is that the chairs model one, do not need to be
assembled while the other two do, this means that the chairs would arrive directly
to the offices, without setback, would reduce a lot of time and there would be less
work in the installation.

5. After writing you opinion, create an audio recording, no more than 2 minutes
long, in which you read the paragraphs you wrote in the previous item.
Remember to use adjectives in English to describe your preferred office
chair model, and comparatives and superlatives to present the advantages
 of it. Save the recording and send it to your instructor through the virtual
platform.

My Opinion:

If for the company for which I work, you want to market

one of the models of office chairs, in my opinion the
best chair would be model 1 (Modern computer Chair)
I think that it is one of the best models to be able to gain profit for the
company, since when compared with the other models it gives us a big
difference.
The model 1 being made of metal, steel and mesh, makes this chair last
longer than one that is made of wood or any other material. Its price and
guarantee are very favorable for customers and brings many benefits
because it can rotate 360 degrees and its height is very comfortable for any
type of person. For these reasons I would be very sure to recommend that
model 1.
