The MultiDSU family is a combination Data Service Unit/Channel Service

Unit (DSU/CSU) used to connect a router, frame relay device or other
DTE device to a high-bandwidth digital service. These DSUs are ideal for
corporate point-to-point applications.

Local Area Data Set (LADS)/Short-Haul Modem.
Eliminate DDS or T1/FT1 line charges by connecting
two MultiDSUs that are up to nine miles apart over
your own line (distance impacted by desired speed,
gauge of wire and other external factors).
MultiDSU Family Highlights
Competitively Priced. The MultiDSU family has been
streamlined to provide the most important DSU
features, while eliminating costly extras you’ll never
use. This means Multi-Tech DSUs are competitively
priced, easy-to-use, yet highly reliable.
Easy to Setup and Maintain. The MultiDSU family
installs easily, and once installed requires little to no
maintenance. You simply plug the line service and DTE
equipment into the MultiDSU, configure with dip
switches or terminal and you’re up and running. And
when necessary, built-in test capabilities let you quickly
troubleshoot line problems.
Cost-Effective. Manage high-speed connectivity costs
with the right MultiDSU and line service. In limited use
applications, a 56K MultiDSU and switched 56K digital
dial-up service are ideal. You pay a low monthly fee and
only for the time used. To provide 24-hour on-line
service, use a 56K or 64K MultiDSU and Digital Data
®
Service (DDS) for up to 56K or 64K Clear Channel
dedicated service over a 4-wire line. For data intensive
applications, like video conferencing and LAN-to-LAN
routing, a T1 MultiDSU and T1 line provide dedicated
1.544M service.
T1 MultiDSU
The T1 MultiDSU is a low-cost, full-
featured DSU/CSU that provides
access to digital networks at T1/
FT1 speeds. It provides access to
traditional dedicated point-to-
point T1 services, Frame Relay, SMDS and ATM
services. The T1 MultiDSU is ideal for LAN-to-LAN
connection, Frame Relay and video conferencing
applications.

The 64K DSU combines the
flexibility of an RS-232 or V.35
DTE interface with 56K

or 64K DDS line connectivity.

asynchronous equipment at 9.6K to 57.6K
• Connects to a 56K switched, 56K dedicated, 4-wire or
64K Clear Channel DDS line
• Provides one RS-232C/D and one V.35 DTE interface
• Detects DDS line rate automatically
• Supports DTE speed conversion
• Includes AT, V.25bis and DTR dialing
Multi-Rate 56K MultiDSU
This flexible multi-rate 56K DSU is Specifications
available in desktop and rackmount T1 DSU
versions. Both support synchronous Network Service Rate: N × 56K bps or N × 64K
equipment; the rackmount version (N=1 to 24)
also supports asynchronous equipment. Either model is DTE Rates: 56K-1.536M sync
