Log footage for a Missoula-based production company that specializes in outdoor television. The job is to load cards and tapes onto hard drives when the footage comes in from shoots, media manage all footage, and then labeling, organizing, describing, and marking the footage in a very detailed manner. Montana Journal

Fall Semester 2010

A class in the School of Journalism that was assigned different responsibilities to produce two half-hour documentaries. One documentary that was produced, Patrolling the Big Sky, was a story about the Montana Highway Patrol and their everyday lives. Another, Death Incorporated, was a show about the death industry in Montana. Patrolling the Big Sky won 2nd place in the SPJ Mark of Excellence awards in Region 10 and was nominated for a student Emmy.
Student Documentary Unit Spring Semester 2011

A class in the School of Journalism that was assigned different responsibilities to produce a one-hour documentary. Our class decided to make Connecting the 406, a documentary about how technology and infrastructure have changed the lives of Montanans. It had its own theater premiere and now consistently airs on Montana PBS.

Great Falls Broadcasters Association Scholarship

A $3000.00 scholarship awarded to a student who has graduated from a high school in Central Montana, is enrolled in a Radio/Television Production program at any university in Montana, and is in at least their second year.

Region 10 Student News Photography

The news package Hair Fever was entered into the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Regional Awards contest. In Region 10 (The Pacific Northwest and Alaska), Hair Fever won 1st place in the category of Student News Photography and advanced to the national competition.

The documentary Montana Journal Presents: Patrolling the Big Sky was entered into the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Regional Awards contest. In Region 10 (The Pacific Northwest and Alaska), Patrolling the Big Sky won 2nd place in the category for Television In-Depth Reporting.

Emmy Nomination

The documentary Montana Journal Presents: Patrolling the Big Sky was entered into the 2010-2011 Northwest Regional College Student Awards for an Emmy nomination in the category of Long Form Non-Fiction. The class itself was nominated, but each student was nominated for their individual roles in the production.
