Review,” Tata McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. ltd., New Delhi, 2009
Great emphasis has been placed on class attendance and participation. Short cases will be
discussed in class, based on full participation by students; the format for these discussions will
be explained in class. Without a good grade on the first two ingredients on the list above, totaling
20% of the marks, no student can do well in the course. Therefore, be in class without fail, so
as not to fail!
Students are advised that to qualify for attendance and class participation credit, a
minimum of 80% class attendance is required. This means that if a student’s attendance is
below 80%, he/she will get zero out of ten for attendance and class participation.

COURSE SCHEDULE
The following study plan is based on a whole trimester of class meetings, net of expected
class cancellations to accommodate events requiring mandatory attendance by students, such as,
for example, “Meet the CEO” programmes organized by the management.

Topics for our lectures and class discussions are briefly outlined below, referring to the
applicable chapters in the prescribed text book. These lectures and discussions, rather than being
strictly confined to the text book, will in fact incorporate materials from reference books,
journals and other sources, including the Internet. Students are strongly urged to read scheduled
topics ahead of class meetings so as to be prepared to participate in class discussions.

Class periods have been set aside for “Meet the CEO” events planned by
the management of the institute. These events give students opportunities to meet leading lights
in the business world. Students are actively encouraged to attend these events – in fact, such
attendance is often mandatory for students.
The course schedule is subject to modifications necessitated by events such as “Meet
the CEO” or other unforeseen contingencies.
