Midwestern State University welcomes the community to the following events.

Please announce them on your community calendar. Thank You.

Feb. 1 Dr. Salim Azzouz, Assistant Professor of Engineering, will present "Energy, Past, Present, and
Future” at 7 p.m. in the Clark Student Center Shawnee Theater as part of the Faculty
Forum Series. Today, the energy issue is at the center of a heated debate. With mounting
environmental concerns, worries about fossil fuel supplies, and the ever growing world
population, the prediction that a nascent new energy era spreading its roots all over the
world has become a reality. This presentation is a review of today’s proposed renewable
energy schemes ranging from hydraulic, geothermal, ocean, solar, wind, and hydrogen.
For more information on this free presentation, please call (940) 397-4194.

Feb. 2 Women's basketball vs. Tarleton State at 5 p.m. in D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Men’s basketball vs. Tarleton State at 7 p.m. in D.L. Ligon Coliseum. For more
information on both games, call (940) 397-4779.

Feb. 3 Continuing Education’s Foreign Film Series presents Ken Loach's awarding-winning drama, The
Wind that Shakes the Barley, at 7 p.m. at the Kemp Center for the Arts. Dr. Nate Moran
will introduce the film that examines a microcosm of civil war in Cork, Ireland. As
political tensions brew in early 1920's Ireland, brothers Damien and Teddy (Cillian
Murphy and Padraic Delaney) abandon their civilian lives and take up arms to liberate
their country from the oppressive "Black and Tan" squads of Britain. Liam Cunningham
co-stars. Admission is free; donations welcome. For more information, call (940) 397-
4756.

The Museum of Art at MSU will present the roundtable discussion, “Faces of Hunger
Here and Nationwide” at 7 p.m. in Gallery 1. Speakers will try to help put a local "face"
on this national struggle during the present economic time. A speaker from National
Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will describe the impact hunger has on mental
health. Mechell Dixon from KFDX will give a national picture about hunger, and three
community members will share their stories of hope and success as they have lived with a
meager existence. Admission is free. For more information, call (940) 397-8900.

college radicals, who have since gone on to sundry professions and various degrees of
