1. DESCRIPTION

By default if you clone the OXE partition we will have wrong Linux installation. Patch installation will
not be possible, restore OPS will fail.
This is because all symbolic links will not be well managed.
For example /tmpd will not be a link to /DHS3dyn/tmp but just a folder, /tmpd/soft_install will not
exist…

2. WORKAROUND
• Before cloning the Linux on OXE and execute the following command with root account:

rpm -e k2_oxepostinstall

3. OXE PATCH INSTALLATION NEW PROCEDURE

• Log as root on OXE and execute the following command :

rpm -e k2_oxepostinstall
• Check that OXE has a double partition. If not, do:

• In OXE VM, use swinst and execute

duplication / Duplicate all (follow the procedure).

• Insert CD or DVD with OXE new delivery in BiCS CD/DVD drive (get it from BPWS).

Complete the OXE upgrade by installing the vmware tools on the inactive partition first and doing
the switchover via swinst:

• Menu 2-1-1: Install package from server :

Partition: select 1 (partition inactive).

WARNING: Selecting this option may display an error message saying that
Inactive partition is not available yet: please do not override this error message
and quit "swinst". Wait for 2 or 3 minutes before running again "swinst" and do
again the procedure.

• Menu 2-3-2-4: Duplicate database

• Menu 2-3-3: Switch on inactive version Notes:

- "Duplicate database" operation will translate the database.

- "Switch on inactive version" will restart OXE (this will cause a new little telephone
service interruption except if PCS is operational). Note: if telephone auto-start was
set in old version, you must unset it in order to be able to launch "swinst" on next
reboot (to finish properly its installation) before starting manually the telephone.
After that, telephone auto-start can be set again.
