Assume you are appearing for a job interview for Tata Group, answer the below
mentioned questions on the basis of your Emotional Intelligence.
Q Why should we hire you? What makes you better than other candidates appearing
for the same interview?

I think I am good candidate for this job. The profile needs an individual with good interpersonal skills
and personality with confidence. Apart from this I am well aware about the culture of Tata Group as
my father is also in contact with TATA group. My confidence level, interpersonal skills, good
communication skills, will compliment this job profile and I will excel.

▪ Emotional Self-Awareness: Tell me about a time when your awareness of your own
emotions caused you to change your plan of action.

When i was very young i wanted to become airhostess but then i realised that i have good
leadership skills to become a manger so i decided to do MBA to polish my other skills

▪ Self-Regard: Please tell us what we can expect as a “Return” on our investment (your
salary) in you.

As my networking skills are good, so i think in that way i would be an asset for the company,
as i would be able to achieve the targets better than anyone else. My ability to do work on
time .

▪ Self-Actualization: Tell us about a time when you felt most fulfilled. What do you feel
is your greatest accomplishment? What are you proud of?

I have observed that as we move forward the success that we achieve looks smaller. But one
of the very great moment of my life which i consider as a great accomplishment is that , i was
president of Interact club in my school, i had a team of 15 people, we used to go and teach
children in slums and we are required to submit a report and after the submission of the report
the report went to the higher authority, the highest authority had 8 schools under it and on the
basis of the report they selected one best report and outstanding work done. When they
declared the result at that time the students of all 8 schools were there and even my parents
were there. So when they announced the name, it was my name and the happiness i saw on
the face of my parents was a great accomplishment for me.

▪ Empathy: You notice a co-worker/fellow student choking back tears throughout a

meeting. Nobody else seems to notice because of the way he/she is sitting. The meeting
ends. You both get up to leave. What do you do?
If the co-worker is my close friend or is a person i know in person then i will definitely go
and ask her, i will tell her to be relax and will discuss with her and try to make her feel better.
But if i don’t know her that personal then ill just tell her to be relaxed.

▪ Social Responsibility: Tell us your thoughts on how you think you can “give back to
others/make the world a better place/help others/ be of service” by simply carrying out
the duties required by this job.

As , we are the part of a society, and therefore we have to give back to others, to the society.
Helping others today will strengthen the relationship and good relationship always pays in
bad times or whenever I am in need, I will also get a support.

▪ Interpersonal Relationship: What are your th1oughts about developing friendships

with your coworkers?

Yes, according to me friendship helps a lot in the work place friends makes the work easier
and quick. Friends give preference to my work and hence my work can be done in a shorter
time.

▪ Flexibility: Describe a situation where you had to be extremely flexible.

During RKVIF my flexible nature helped me alot. I at the same time was in two teams under two
heads. I have two different responsibilities for which i was accountable. I was in ashrer’s team as
well as stage management team. I did both the works well and received outstanding performance
certificate.

▪ Reality Testing: Are you more of a dreamer or more of a realist? Give me an example
of how someone observing might know this about you.

I am a very short term plan maker. I believe that one has to be a perfect person. I believe in
doing less or small but with perfection. I don’t like doing everything and hap hazard.
Therefore i can say that i am a realistic person rather than dreamer.

▪ Stress Tolerance: Tell me how you deal with stress. What do you do to proactively deal
with stress? Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a lot of stress and how you
handled it.
There are a lot of times when I have come under stress. Sometimes there are a lot of
assignments and projects which are to be submitted at a very short span of time. Once it
happened to me also. It was a time when my examinations were round the corner and I had to
submit my projects and assignments. It was a very stressful situation. But I realized that,
taking tension would only increase my inefficiency. So I decided to start the work and then
step by step I proceeded. The project divided with my group mate. And finally, I was
successful to complete my job on time.

▪ Optimism: Describe your general attitude to work and life. What does “good attitude”
mean to you? This glass I’m holding, how would you describe it – as half-full or half-
empty and what’s the difference – is there a difference – does it matter?

I think that, whatever happens happens for good. I believe in working perfectly. The results
come accordingly. If I commit a mistake then I learn from it so that it doesn’t get repeated
again. And if I don’t get something which I wanted, then I think that, there is something
better to be achieved!

The glass is half full. There is a difference between the two. Half-full means, I am focussing
on what is available and trying to leverage it, and add on to it. If I focus on only which i don’t
have, then it will add on to the stress and negativity. Optimism helps us to do something
constructive. But always positive and accepting the situation will bring stagnation. And hence
we need to look on to the negatives also, so as to correct them and to remove the loopholes.
