Baptism

Defined as dip, immerse, or washing. It's from the Greek word Baptizo, which has always
meant to overwhelm or plunge in a liquid (water). The New Testament was written in
Greek.
And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. Matthew 3:6
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier
than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost,
and [with] fire: Matthew 3:11
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John
forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? Matthew
3:13-14
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the
heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and
lighting upon him: Matthew 3:16
The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with
themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not
then believe him? Matthew 21:25
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Note: Eusebius who wrote from and saw the original
Hebrew manuscript of Matthew wrote twenty-one times that it was "Go, make disciples
of all nations in my name, teaching them to keep all things which I have commanded
you." Jesus being the speaker here (as in Mark 16:15-17; Luke 24:45-47). The wording
changed after the adoption of the trinity in 325 A.D. Shem-Tob a Hebrew scribe wrote a
similar ending in his Matthew book (he had another copy of the original book of Matthew
which was written in Hebrew, and he was by no means a friend to Christianity, therefore
an unbiased witness). Matthew 28:19
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the
remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of
Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.Mark
1:4-5

it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized

The baptism of John, was [it] from heaven, or of men? answer me. Mark 11:30

When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized
more disciples than John, (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) John

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and
the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself
believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered,
beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Acts 8:12-13
And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said,
See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou
believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus
Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went
down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:36-38
And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight
forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. Acts 9:18
That word, [I say], ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from
Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; Acts 10:37
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the
Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the

raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? I
thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I

The History
33 AD - Day of Pentecost, 33 AD. The Apostle Peter introduces the New Covenant
teaching on water baptism (Acts 2:38). In Apostolic teaching water baptism in the name
of Jesus Christ was and is central to salvation. This is because the Apostles taught their
converts that water baptism in Jesus Name is where the blood of Jesus Christ is first
applied to a convert. Real faith produces action. The Greek word for “believe” means
more than to just believe that He existed, or that He died for us. It means to be “fully
persuaded” concerning Him. If we truly believe in Him, we will put our trust in Him,
follow His teachings, and obey His commandments. Baptism in His (Jesus') name is a
command for all who believe in Him to obey.
100 AD - Now the subject I am trying to share is that baptism in Jesus name primarily.
However in this bit of sharing I will touch on other related subjects. History has it that in
AD 100 the titles Father, Son, Holy Ghost was first used and it was a Romish invention.
145 AD - Here is the first recorded use of a triad form of baptism, yet with Jesus (or
Yeshua) still at it's center. Justin Martyr was leery of it, as he clearly shows in his
writings, as the first recorded 'trinitarian' baptism mode on historical record, in the year
140 AD, still carried the 'NAME OF JESUS', as a carryover from the original Acts 2:38
mode. History is full of the statements that the most Christians in the first three centuries
AD were Acts 2:38 Jesus Name adherents.
255 AD - AD 255, Early Catholics and others baptized in Jesus Name: Cyprian, an
African Catholic bishop, like Justin Martyr, hated God's oneness Apostolics to such a
degree that he wanted nothing in common with them. Therefore, he, like Justin Martyr,
changed the formula for baptism. He took the name of the Lord Jesus Christ out of the
Catholic's second immersion, and replaced it with the title Son. This is the first place in
history where all three titles were actually used by the Catholics and as the majority of
Protestants continue to maintain today. The majority of Christians still baptized in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ in those days.
325 AD - Furthermore, church history records that the accepted mode of baptism in the
church was in Jesus' name until the Council of Nicea in 325 AD (long after the apostles
had died). In baptism, we take upon ourselves the name of the One who died for us. The
church is called the Bride of Christ, and when we are baptized, we take on the name of
our “husband” (Jesus Christ). Not once in the word of God was anyone ever recorded to
be dipped or baptized into the titles "of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!” From this time
forward any baptism but the trinitarian one is outlawed by many of the Catholics,
therefore by Rome as well.
381 AD - 381 AD, The Ecumenical Council of Constantinople comes against Oneness
believers. Montanists were not only had the gifts of the Spirit, but also baptized in Jesus'
Name. Schaff speaking of this council said they: Rejected the baptism of those, "who
baptized with only one immersion, the Sabellians and the Montanists. Probably because
they did not at that time use the [so-called] orthodox [Trinitarian] baptismal formula."
From that time forward persecution, confiscation or desecration of all others who held a
different opinion than them (the Catholics) began in earnest.
Bautismo

Y yo no le conocía, pero que él fuese manifestado a Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando

Y yo no le conocía, pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua, lo mismo me dijo: Sobre
quien veas descender el Espíritu y permanecer sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu
Santo. Juan 1:33

Respondió Jesús: De cierto, de cierto te digo, que el que no naciere de agua y [de] el
Espíritu, no puede entrar en el reino de Dios. Juan 3:5

Después de esto vino Jesús con sus discípulos en la tierra de Judea, y estuvo allí con
ellos, y bautizaba. Y Juan también estaba bautizando en Enón, junto a Salim, porque
había allí muchas aguas; y venían, y eran bautizados. Juan 3:22-23

Por tanto, cuando el Señor entendió que los fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía y
bautizaba más discípulos que Juan, (aunque Jesús mismo no bautizaba, sino sus
discípulos), Juan 4:1-2

Y se fue otra vez más allá del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan bautizó en un primer momento,
y allí se quedó. Juan 10:40

Porque Juan ciertamente bautizó con agua, mas vosotros seréis bautizados con el Espíritu
Santo no muchos días. Hechos 1:5

Comenzando desde el bautismo de Juan hasta el mismo día en que fue tomado de
nosotros, uno debe ser ordenado para ser un testigo con nosotros de su resurrección.

los pecados, y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo. Porque la promesa es para ustedes, y
para vuestros hijos, ya todos los que están lejos, [aunque] como para cuantos el Señor
nuestro Dios llamare. Y con otras muchas palabras testificaba y exhortaba, diciendo: Sed
salvos de esta perversa generación. Así que los que recibieron su palabra fueron
bautizados: y el mismo día se añadieron [les] cerca de tres mil almas. Hechos 2:37-41

Pero cuando creyeron a Felipe, que anunciaba el evangelio del reino de Dios, y el nombre
de Jesucristo, se bautizaban, tanto hombres como mujeres. Creyó Simón mismo también,
y después que fue bautizado, estaba siempre con Felipe, y se preguntó, al ver los milagros
y señales que se realizaron. Hechos 8:12-13

Y yendo en [su] camino, llegaron a cierta agua, y el eunuco dijo: Mira, [aquí es agua];
¿qué impide que yo sea bautizado? Y Felipe dijo: Si crees de todo corazón, bien puedes.
Y él respondió y dijo: Creo que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios. Y mandó parar el carro
todavía: y descendieron ambos al agua, Felipe y el eunuco, y le bautizó. Hechos 8:36-38

Y luego le cayeron de los ojos como escamas, y recobró la vista, y levantándose, fue
bautizado. Hechos 9:18

Esa palabra, [digo], sabéis, que se difundía por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea,
después del bautismo que Juan predicó, Hechos 10:37

¿Puede alguno impedir el agua, que estos no deben ser bautizados, que han recibido el
Espíritu Santo también como nosotros? Y mandó que fueran bautizados en el nombre del
Señor. Entonces le rogaron que se quedase por algunos días. Hechos 10:47-48

Entonces me acordé de la palabra del Señor, como dijo: Juan bautizó con agua, mas

Y cuando fue bautizada, y su familia, ella suplicó [nosotros], diciendo: Si habéis juzgado
que yo sea fiel al Señor, ven a mi casa, y cumplir [allí]. Y nos obligó. Hechos 16:15

Y Crispo, el jefe de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor con toda su casa, y muchos de los

Este había sido instruido en el camino del Señor, y siendo ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y
enseñaba diligentemente las cosas del Señor, sabiendo que sólo el bautismo de Juan.

dijo Pablo: Juan bautizó con bautismo de arrepentimiento, diciendo al pueblo que
creyesen en aquel que vendría después de él, es decir, en Cristo Jesús. Cuando se
enteraron de [este], fueron bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús. Hechos 19:3-5

Y ahora por qué te detienes? Levántate y bautízate, y lava tus pecados, invocando el
nombre del Señor. Hechos 22:16

¿O no sabéis que todos los que hemos sido bautizados en Cristo Jesús, fuimos bautizados
en su muerte? Porque somos sepultados juntamente con él por el bautismo en la muerte:
para que como Cristo resucitó de los muertos por la gloria del Padre, así también nosotros
andemos en vida nueva. Romanos 6:3-4

¿Está dividido Cristo? fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros? O habéis sido bautizados en el
nombre de Pablo? Doy gracias a Dios que no bauticé a ninguno de ustedes, sino a Crispo
ya Gayo, para que ninguno diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre. También bauticé a
la familia de Estéfanas: mas no sé si he bautizado a algún otro. Por no me envió Cristo a
bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio: no en sabiduría de palabras, no sea que la cruz de
Cristo debe ser de ningún efecto. 1 Corintios 1:13-17

Y todos en Moisés fueron bautizados en la nube y en el mar, 1 Corintios 10:02

Porque por un Espíritu somos todos bautizados en un cuerpo, o [que sea] Judios o
gentiles, si [que se] esclavos o libres; ya todos se nos dio a beber de un mismo Espíritu. 1
Corintios 12:13

Otras lo harán los que se bautizan por los muertos, si los muertos no resucitan, en
absoluto? ¿por qué pues, se bautizan por los muertos? 1 Corintios 15:29

Porque todos los que habéis sido bautizados en Cristo os habéis revestido de Cristo.

El a lo cual figura como [aunque] el bautismo que ahora nos salva (no quitando las
inmundicias de la carne, pero la respuesta de una buena conciencia hacia Dios) por la
resurrección de Jesucristo: 1 Pedro 3:21
La Historia

33 DC - Día de Pentecostés del año 33 DC. El apóstol Pedro introduce la enseñanza del
Nuevo Pacto en el bautismo en agua (Hechos 2:38). En el bautismo en agua la enseñanza
apostólica en nombre de Jesucristo fue y es esencial para la salvación. Esto se debe a los
Apóstoles enseñaron a sus conversos que el bautismo de agua en el Nombre de Jesús es
donde la sangre de Jesucristo se aplicó por primera vez a un converso. La verdadera fe
produce la acción. La palabra griega para "creer" significa más que simplemente creer
que Él existe, o que Él murió por nosotros. Que significa ser "plenamente convencido"
sobre él. Si verdaderamente creemos en Él, vamos a poner nuestra confianza en Él, seguir
sus enseñanzas, y obedecer sus mandamientos. El bautismo en Su (Jesús) el nombre es un
símbolo para todos los que creen en Él a obedecer.

100 DC - Ahora el tema que estoy tratando de compartir es que el bautismo en el nombre
de Jesús principalmente. Sin embargo, en este pedacito de compartir me referiré a otros
temas relacionados. La historia cuenta que en el año 100 los títulos de Padre, Hijo,
Espíritu Santo fue utilizado por primera vez y fue una invención romana.

145 DC - Este es el primer uso registrado de una forma la tríada del bautismo, sin
embargo, con Jesús (Yeshua o) todavía en su centro. Justino Mártir estaba receloso de
que, como lo muestra claramente en sus escritos, como el primero registrado el modo
"trinitario" bautismo en el registro histórico, en el año 140 dC, siendo llevado a la
"NOMBRE DE JESÚS", como un remanente de las Actas originales modo de 2:38. La

255 DC - Los católicos temprana y otros bautizados en el Nombre de Jesús: Cipriano, el

obispo católico de África, como Justino Mártir, odiado Apostólicos de Dios la unidad a
tal grado que él no quería tener nada en común con ellos. Por lo tanto, él, como Justino
Mártir, cambió la fórmula para el bautismo. Tomó el nombre del Señor Jesucristo de la
segunda inmersión católica, y lo reemplazó con el título de Hijo. Este es el primer lugar

mayoría de los protestantes siguen manteniendo hoy en día. La mayoría de los cristianos
sigue siendo bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesucristo en esos días.
