El Perú, es un destino privilegiado. Declarado una de las siete maravillas del mundo
moderno, es uno de los países más mega diversos del planeta en donde se puede pasar del
desierto a las montañas y de las montañas a la selva en tan sólo un abrir y cerrar de ojos.
Como mencioné en blogs anteriores, el Perú se divide tradicionalmente en tres regiones - la
costa, la sierra y la selva. Sin embargo la realidad es más rica y compleja. La zona costera
posee áreas desérticas, hermosas playas y fértiles valles. La sierra del Perú está dominada por
la Cordillera de los Andes y su punto más alto alcanza los 6.768 metros sobre el nivel del
mar con la cumbre del Huascarán. La selva es la zona de vegetación tropical donde se
encuentran las más grandes reservas de naturaleza. El Perú cuenta con 84 de 104 zonas de
vida existentes en el planeta y es hogar de cerca del 20% de las aves y 10% de los mamíferos
y reptiles del mundo. Es importante mencionar también que 13% del territorio nacional son
áreas nacionales protegidas.

El Perú posee más de 10 mil años de historia que puede ser explorada a través de más de 180
museos y destinos arqueológicos. Los peruanos hemos heredado una cultura y tradiciones de
civilizaciones que florecieron por siglos antes de ser conquistados por los españoles. De la
mezcla que produjo el contacto de estas dos diferentes culturas más el aporte de africanos y
asiáticos que llegaron al Perú años más tarde, dieron como resultado a un país rico tanto en
cultura como en paisajes.

Tourist Destinations

Peru is a privileged destination. Declared one of the seven wonders of the modern world, it is
one of the mega-diverse countries on the planet where you can go from desert to the
mountains and the mountains to the jungle in just a blink. As mentioned in previous blogs,
Peru is divided into three regions—the coast, highlands, and jungle. However, the reality is
richer and more complex. The coastal area has deserts, beautiful beaches, and fertile valleys.
The mountains of Peru are dominated by the Andes Mountains and its highest point reaches
6,768 meters above sea level with the summit of Huascaran. The rainforest is the tropical
garden area where the largest nature reserves are located. Peru has eighty-four of the 104 life
zones on the planet and is home to about twenty percent of birds and ten percent of mammals
and reptiles in the world. It is also important to mention that thirteen percent of the country is

national protected areas.

Peru has more than ten thousand years of history that can be explored through more than 180
museums and archaeological destinations. The Peruvians have inherited a culture and
traditions of civilizations that flourished for centuries before being conquered by the Spanish.
The mixture that produced the contact of these two different cultures plus the contribution of
Africans and Asians, who came to Peru years later, resulted in a country rich in both culture
and landscapes.
