Czerwone jabłuszko
Czerwone jabłuszko is kujawiak. Kujawiak is a Polish dance from the region of Kujawy after
which it is named (the region is in central Poland, on the Mazovian plains).

The name itself appeared for the first time in 1827. This style was passed on from generation
to generation. There was no special schooling: children and young people would watch during
parties and festive occasions and then try it on the side. From Kujawy the dance was taken to
similar festive occasions in Warsaw and other big cities. From there it spread all over Poland,
where it underwent various transformations.

Since the kujawiak is usually included with the dances of central Poland, especially the
Mazowsze area, it is usually danced in costumes from that area - variants of strój łowicki.
This costume is easily recognizable because of the colorful striped cloth (pasiak) used for
men's pants and women's skirts and capes.

Czerwone jabłuszko przekrojone na krzyż.

Czemu ty dziewczyno krzywo na mnie patrzysz?

Gęsi za wodą, kaczki za wodą

Uciekaj dziewczyno, bo Cię pobodą.
Ja ci buzi dam, ty mi buzi dasz,
Ja cię nie wydam, ty mnie nie wydasz.
Mazurek, mazureczek,
oberek, obereczek,
kujawiak, kujawiaczek.
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

Czerwone jabłuszko po ziemi się toczy,

Tę dziewczynę kocham, co ma ładne oczy.

Gęsi za wodą, kaczki za wodą

Uciekaj dziewczyno, bo Cię pobodą.
Ja ci buzi dam, ty mi buzi dasz,
Ja cię nie wydam, ty mnie nie wydasz.
Mazurek, mazureczek,
oberek, obereczek,
kujawiak, kujawiaczek.
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

Tam gdzie czysta woda, tam koniki piją,

Gdzie ładne dziewczyny, tam się chłopcy biją.

Gęsi za wodą, kaczki za wodą

Uciekaj dziewczyno, bo Cię pobodą.
Ja ci buzi dam, ty mi buzi dasz,
Ja cię nie wydam, ty mnie nie wydasz.
Mazurek, mazureczek,
oberek, obereczek,
kujawiak, kujawiaczek.
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

The red apple cut into cross,

Why you boy, frown me?

Geese behind the lake, ducks behind the lake,

Go away boy, cause they will bite you,
I will kiss you, you will kiss me,
I won't give you away, you won't give me away.

The red apple is rolling on the ground.

I love this girl, who has nice eyes.

Geese behind the lake, ducks behind the lake,

Go away girl, cause they will bite you,
I will kiss you, you will kiss me,
I won't give you away, you won't give me away.

Where clean water, there horses drink,

Where the pretty girls, the boys are fighting there.

Geese behind the lake, ducks behind the lake,

Go away girl, cause they will bite you,
I will kiss you, you will kiss me,
I won't give you away, you won't give me away.
