1.0 Purpose

This documentation is solely meant to guide a simple performance verification procedure on the Proservo
NMS5 series Servo Level gauge (hereafter Proservo) for during normal operating period.

2.0 Warning and Cautions

The Proservo is an Ex device for use in Hazardous Area. With this in mind the proper Hazardous Area
precautions should be taken into account. For example “Hot Work Permit” should be prepared as well and all
local customer conditions must be taken into account

All local requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE), such as Safety Shoes, Protective Helmet,
Flame retardant, highly visible and antistatic Jacket or Overalls, must be used. Additional local regulations for
training, environmental or other needs and approvals must be considered.

It is important that for tanks and applications with the following conditions to abide by these warnings:
• Pressurized and / or blanketed: Maintenance hatch can NOT be opened
• Chemically aggressive: Dipping can NOT be performed

The following conditions must be satisfied prior to conducting a successful verification.

• Measurement mode of the Proservo is in “LEVEL”
• The tank is neither FILLING nor DRAINING (Proservo reading must be stable)
• Any initial calibration reports /commissioning sheets are available

4.0 Tools and Equipment

A certified measuring tape (Dip Tape) should be used to compare to data. Please register the last calibrated
stamp/date. Depending on the internal regulation at the site the dip tape should be used by the customer

6.0 Work Instructions

Here are the summary details for verification of the Proservo (NMS5)

manual.

Balance Weight on Liquid

First enter the access code 51. Guideline:

Note Balance Volume and Upper

density according to the Matrix
position GVH 344 and GVH 005.

Guideline for WL and WD:

Calculate and note the WL. Difference within “+/- 2 g”

Compare the calculated weight to
