When to use GOING TO (Cuándo usar GOING TO)

 
The structure BE GOING TO is normally used to indicate the future but with some type
of connection to the present. We use it in the following situations:

La estructura de ESTAR YENDO A es normalmente usada para indicar el future

pero con cierto tipo de conexión con el presente. Lo usamos en las siguientes
situaciones: 

1. When we have already decided or we intend to do something in the future:

1. Cuando ya hemos decidido o intentado hacer algo en el future:

 They're going to retire to the beach - in fact they have already bought a little
beach house.
 Ellos van a retirarse a la playa; de hecho, ya han comprado una pequeña casa
en la playa.

2. When there are definite signs that something is going to happen:

2. Cuando hay señales definidas de que algo va a pasar

 I think it is going to rain - I just felt a drop.

 Pienso que va a llover – acabo de sentir una gota

3. When something is about to happen:

3. Cuando algo está por pasar: 
   
 Get back! The bomb is going to explode.
 Atrás! La bomba va a explotar.
 

When to use WILL ( Cuándo usar WILL)

 
In other cases, where there is no implicit or explicit connection to the present, use
WILL:
En otros casos, en el que no está implicito o explicito una conexión con el presente,
se usa WILL (será)

1. For things that we decide to do now.

1. para cosas que decidimos hacer ahora.
   
 I'll buy one for you too.
 Compraré una para ti también
 I think I'll try one of those. (I just decided this right now)
 Pienso que probaré uno de esos. (acabo de decidir eso justo ahora) 

2. When we think or believe something about the future.

2. Cuando pensamos o creemos algo sobre el futuro
  My team will not win the league this season.
 Mi equipo no ganará la liga esta temporada.
 I think it will rain later so take an umbrella with you.
 Pienso que lloverá más tarde así que lleva un paraguas contigo
 
3. To make an offer, a promise or a threat.
3. Para hacer una oferta, una promesa o un trato

 I'll give you a discount if you buy it right now.

 Le daré un descuento si Ud. Compra esto ahora mismo.
 I promise I will behave next time.
 Prometo que me comportaré la próxima vez
