I spoke to a sister yesterday and i think while we where talking she said someth

ing that sprouted an overwhelming emotion in me. I am reallying not going to bla
me this warped euphoria that i see in people on the leaders of the Church but i
most say that they also bear a part of the blame.Like the motivational speakers
often say" Attitude is everything"; while i have no doubt about the power of a p
ositive outlook, attitude alone doesn't make miracles happen. it can't substitut
e for a lack of knowledge or experience, it also can't reverse the dire financia
l situation, and can't guarantee any long-term success. in fact if not well chec
ked when the frustrations of non-achievement sets in you may even loose the posi
tive attitude that you have for life. PLEASE TRY AND TAKE THIS WALK WITH ME...
THINGS THAT OUR ATTITUDE CAN'T DO FOR US.
1.) your attitude cannot substitute for competence and experience: In the past i
have made the mistake of hiring people with great attitude and discounting abil
ity, thinking that their great attitude will eventually find a way to get the jo
b done. Unfortunately, i found out that there is absolutely no substitute for ta
lent. AN ATTITUDE OF CONFIDENCE CANNOT REPLACE COMPETENCE. likewise, without exp
erience, an idealist wave of enthusiasm will crash on the shores of reality.Cert
ain leadership postilions-due to their scope of responsibility- demand the kind
of wisdom gained through knowledge and experience.
2.) your attitude cannot substitute for personal growth: attitude fills us with
the hope that we might reach our dreams. BUT HOPE WITHOUT ACTION FALLS APART. Br
uce Springsteen once said in his music "A time comes when you need to stop waiti
ng for the man you want to become and start being the man that you want to be".
Never stop dreaming, but also never stop growing if you expect your dreams to co
me true.
THINGS THAT ATTITUDE CAN DO FOR US.
While a great attitude may not be "everything" it's certainly;y a plus. There ar
e so many reasons why we need to push for a positive attitude:
1.) your attitude makes a difference in your approach to life: our performance t
end to be a reflection of what we expect from ourselves- and also the expectatio
ns we allow others to put on us. i found out that professional athletes are enco
uraged to visualize themselves performing well before they even compete.
2.) your attitude makes a difference in your relationships with people: many thi
ngs come into play when working with people but i have seen that one thing that
makes or breaks relationships usually falls on the plain of attitude. I once tol
d a minster friend of mine, that you can pray today till tomorrow for your churc
h to grow, but what it your prayer can do will be to bring the miracle of increa
se but it is your attitude that will sustain the growth. If you take time to thi
nk about that you can agree with me that some churches have really seen increase
s in their past but something happens and people leave. Please let us quit blami
ng that on the devil and begin to take charge of our attitude. Look at Lakewood
Church, i always tell people, that ministry is not the biggest in America only b
y prayer but have you sat to listen to the pastor even his wife when they are on
they are preaching? Have you heard Joyce Meyer when she is teaching? and so man
y others the list just goes on and on... for the truth is HURTING PEOPLE WILL HU
RT OTHERS AND THEY WILL GET HURT THEMSELVES BY OTHERS.. In our relationships we
can even lift people or bring them down by our attitude. If we have a teachable
attitude you will agree with me that every one that you meet has a potential to
teach us something; but on the contrary those that lack a teachable spirit alway
s assumes that others can't offer them anything and they ignore or even walk awa
y from relationships that have the potential of placing them in their "pent hous
e".
3.) your attitude makes a difference in how you face challenges: have you heard
the saying that "your attitude is the paint brush of your mind. it colors your w
orld with dark negativity- or brilliant optimism". take the composer Ludwig van
Beethoven who wrote his greatest symphonic masterpieces after he became deaf, or
is it John Bunyan who while in prison wrote the famous "Pilgrim's Progress". fo
r one person an obstacle can be a stepping stone to get to the other level and t
o the other the damning situation that has come to take their life.
Adopting a positive attitude might not change the facts of life or your circumst
ances but also remember that having a positive out look to life should not be ta
ken to mean a denial of your situation. There is nothing wrong to say when you a
re not feeling well that " i am not feeling well, but i know that my god is able
to bring me out of this situation". even the bible recognizes that when it said
" Is any sick amongst you, let them go to the elders and let them pray, anointin
g you; for the prayer of righteous men avails much." We need to stop having "Dis
tortional Thinking" from our mindset. I love Apostle Ayamo who came to minister
to us in our church the other day he said " for some your healing may be instant
and for some it may be progressive, don't loose that prescription that the doct
ors gave you, after-all it is the Lord that gives such wisdom to the doctors tha
t are treating you." If you want to make it in life, never stop researching what
other great people did and attitudes that they adopted that brought them high t
o where they are. FOR "WISDOM" IS THE GETTING OF KNOWLEDGE AND ITS PROPER APPLIC
ATION. Even the bible tells us that in all your getting get UNDERSTANDING...
