As a management student, what could be done to

control subprime crisis?

As a management student we should think of a economy wher there will be enoufh space for
goverment & private players i.e. a mixed economy.Sub prime crisis happend in America because
goverment control was not there . In the post crisis period they are trying to implement a mixed
economy wher govt. control will be much more higer than before.
As a management student we should think about economy and internal and external policies where
central bank play a major role in the economy, control the over all economy. they not only look for
supply and demand of money but they have to view the activities of the govt. banks and private
sector bank. in America there central bank fail to fore see the other bank activities..The collapse of
Lehman Brothers one year ago this week has us asking ourselves what principles of financial
intelligence we can learn from Lehman's failure. there are many reason to fall...1..financial
leverage:-Lehman Brothers was over-leveraged. 2.. Debt Equity Ratio:- it telsl you how much debt
a company has for every dollar of equity. Lehman Brother has $30 to $60 per dollar equity.
as my far as my knwledge is concerned friend i m nt agree wid u bcs prime crisis is taking place in
india. infact in the whole world everywhere is prime crisis bt in india itss 2 much. so to get rid from
prime crisis we hav 2 make a kind of private community and under dat there should be those
persons who r purly honest will not take any bribes.
Well firstly if we are speaking in the Indian Context one must mention the fact that the subprime
market in India is yet to evolve to any significnt proportions. At the very crux of the subprime crisis
where 3 issues for the United States. An economy whch was completely based on paper, over eager
banks doling out loans without proper credit appraisal of borrowers and ofcourse complete standstill
in manufacturing as far as the United States was concerned. So the most significant step that
economic planners must undertake is to ensure that there is consistent infrastructural growth in the
economy.

HardWorking or smart working..??

smartworking is best..because hardwork can be done by eveyone but smartwork is not possible for
everyone..and also IT companies are lokking for smartworking people who wil finish the work in
time..
Hi All, Hard working and smart working both are required to a student or an employee. Now a days
companies are hiking persons who have both.Because companies sometimes needed a hardworking
person and some times a smart working persons. Depending upon situation companies wants
results from their employees. So I mean employee should have both skills. Depending the work
given to him by his boss he(employee)had to approach to that situation and he(employee)should
decide whether to finish that given work he need which skill whether it is smart or hard working. so
we should have both the abilities. it will be a plus point.
well if u are a smart worker you actually wont have to be a hard worker at all. infact why bother
about anything else look at your convenience, if you work smartly you will not have to tire yourself.
i for sure smart work can be done without hardwork. you dont have to struggle yourself because at
the end what matters is results no matter how you have got it, that is what companies want from
you they are not bothered about the number of hours you have put in.
I believe hard-working results in Smart working.Without hardwork,u cant become smart worker.To
become smartworker,u need to concentrate on each n every step of urs n other efficient person's
attitute wic require hard efforts. It is very necessary to transform ur hardwork into smartwork.Once
u bcm smart-worker,u cn save lods of tym n can bcm good Decision-maker.Like,during exams a
hard-worker tries to mug-up everything while a smart-worker understands the topic n try themself
to interprete it..
In a result oriented cometitive atmosphere every worker should be smart rather than a hard
worker. In the corporate world every one will be given a target which he/she has to achive with in
that stipulated time. After the stipulated time the organisation will ask for result not how you have
done it. I might be hard working but at the end of the day result is not up to he mark then i will be
rated as below averge performer. On the other hand some one who is not a hard worker but a smart
worker achives her target with in the stipulation. At the end of the day she is a good performer but i
am not. I think smart or hard work this is depend on different situation.Smart work set the
companies goal but hard work help us to achieve this goal.Smart work always done by manager of
the companies but it go through by labor's hard work.We can't ignore hard work.If we talking about
knowledge that time we have to talk about smart work.So i think we should have hard or smart
working people.
I am one of the last persons in the world who would tell you not to work hard. I know that hard
work is the only substitute to a hard life. Hard work makes the commonest chance golden.
However, it worth reminding you that working hard must also be tempered by working smart, or
you might just be wasting a load of effort. There is a reason why we were born with both muscles
and brains. We should use both…..and definitely not in proportional ratios. ...working hard must also
be tempered by working smart, or you might just be wasting a load of effort Consider the story of
two lumberjacks in a tree-cutting contest. Both were strong and determined, hoping to win the
prize. But one was hardworking and ambitious, chopping down every tree in his path at the fastest
pace possible, while the other appeared to be a little more laid back, methodically felling trees and
pacing himself. The go-getter worked all day, skipping his lunch break, expecting that his superior
effort would be rewarded. His opponent, however, took an hour-long lunch, and then resumed his
steady pace. In the end, the eager beaver was dismayed to lose to his "lazier" competition. Thinking
he deserved to win after his hard work, he finally approached his opponent and said, "I just don't
understand. I worked longer and harder than you, and went hungry to get ahead. You took a break,
and yet you still won. It just doesn't seem fair. Where did I go wrong?" The winner responded,
"While I was taking my lunch break, I was sharpening my ax." Hard work will always pay off; smart
work will pay better. Remember back in school, there were the people who studied all day and all
night, but still struggled to pass exams?(I hope you are not one of them). Then there were the
people who studied hard but also found time for a game of basketball (or time to attend fellowship)
and still aced every test and exam. Both groups studied the same material, attended the same
lectures, were taught by the same professors, and took the same test. Was the second group just
that much more brilliant? Maybe, but my money's on the way they approached their material and
learned how to study. If they were smart, they applied those same principles after graduation: work
hard, but also work smart. That's a lesson that can be learned by even young children. A little girl
visiting a watermelon farm asked the farmer how much a large watermelon cost. "Three dollars," he
told her. "But I only have thirty cents," the little girl said. The farmer looked around his field, and
feeling sorry for the little girl, pointed at a small watermelon and said, "That one's thirty cents." "Oh
good," she replied as she paid him, "Just leave it on the vine and I'll be back in a month to get it."
Call it creativity, call it ingenuity, call it whatever: I call it using your head. Knowing how to analyze
a situation and how to execute an action plan will put you ahead of the game in the long run.
There's nothing wrong with having a leg up on your competition - it's how you win. The combination
of hard work and smart work is the formula for success. Think about what needs to be done, and
then think again about the best way to accomplish it - not necessarily the way you've always done
it, or the fastest way, and certainly not the hardest way. Never make work harder than it has to be.
That's just a colossal waste of time. There's nothing wrong with having a leg up on your competition
- it's how you win. The combination of hard work and smart work is the formula for success.
Perhaps the ingenuity award goes to the fellow who came to the Canadian border on his motorcycle,
carrying two saddlebags strapped across his seat. The border guards asked the obvious question,
"What's in your saddlebags?" "Rocks," was the reply. So the guards emptied the bags to check out
his story. Sure enough, all they found were rocks. So they sent him on his way. The next week, the
same fellow came to the crossing, again on a motorcycle, again with the same payload. The guards
checked once again, and found more rocks. Off he went. The scene repeated itself weekly for
several months, until finally the guards couldn't stand it any longer. "We know you are smuggling
something across the border, but every time we inspect your saddlebags we find only rocks. Please
tell us what you are up to, and we promise not to turn you in." "Well," the fellow replied, "It's really
very simple. I'm smuggling stolen motorcycles." Moral of the story: It's good to work hard. It's
great to work smart. But it's best to work hard and smart.

One should never judge a person by external

appearances..
One should never judge a person by external appearances bcoz the might look like villager but had
some great talents in internally , we should take an example of Srinivasa ramanujan the great
mathematician, and couple of examples where people have not judged him externally , but
appreciated his internal talents and honoured him world wide.
yes, one should never judge a person by external appearance as a person apparently looking
coward may prove to be hero on the occasion and a person looking brave may prove coward on the
other occasion so only occasions tells of what stuff we are made not the appearance.
I totally agree wid my frends dat internal appearance is wat matters cos ur mind is ur
commander...a person should be judged internally nd nt externally cos u can be good 4rm ur inner
side 4rm the core of ur heart and dat is only reflected outside which is appreciated by d world...
now a days its very important to have an eye attracting appearence if u hv a great talent inside..coz
widout tht gazzling appearence no1 will notice u n ur talent will remain unnoticed...so its important
to go wid the flow of trends..wht u see tht matters n not wht u cant.take an example of the
almighty god, we dont workship him but his sculptures..just think if there were no stony statues ,
no place to holy place to visit, no holy books to read,,thn would there be ny1 talking bout him n
accepting his existence?
ace is the index of mind... What goes in mind, gets reflected in the face to somewhat.. The
greatman who achieved records, may be due to his simplicity mightout be reflected some
extent. ...Juding through external appearance is possible if judement made correctly in all senses
and all angles with perfection of ideas

Are women managers better managers

We cant say womens r better managers bt we can say womens r more successful managers. From
their childhood, they are teached to manage small-small things 4m their wadrobes to kitchen to
organisations.Management lies in the blood of womens, thus they can manage better than a men.4 a
men,its a duty n responsibility to get succed n to get fame-name-money,bt 4 a women it is a part of
life.
I do not agree with ninnu. women cannot become good manager,B'Z they are very emotional. and
manager requires must be control it's emotions i.e becomes emotional inteligent; and this qualitiy
have in men only. so, men can do that do not can do by women; B'Z there are lot of difference
between manage family and manage company.
Women as a manager are much more successful and better than man. There is a long list of women
who hav set flags in d area of managing.Reason women are laborious, serious toward their goals. As
far as emotions is concerned there exist no human in d world who hav no emotions, and If there
exist such living beings den they are animals.Even animals too hav emotions.Managing skills require
prpper blending of all d qualities and emotion is one of its ingrediant Managing is all about d proper
utlilization of resources. and If u know dat U r gud manager.Women are much skilled in managing
,they think from all d angles, they are sincere ,serious .
(Reply to this comment)
this is absolutely rediculus, this is not truth, i accept that in comparision to men, most of the women
are sincere but only in quantity, i.e. in large number, you see that in iim's and iit's most of the seats
are filled by men, thats why men are more intellegent than women, in term of management still
women are behind, women can only be a good manager, when she is a good human being, not
jeleous of men, because I saw that women when gets a position, she missuse it, she just think that,
in this male schavenist country, she got a way to make men a looser.
eah i feel women could turn out to be better managers than men having given them chance to do
so.....they could challenge us equally in every field. There are some mis-conceptions that we do't
find much girls in mba colleges as compared to boys..the reason is they are encouraged to have
early marriage which is more valid if we take the case of our country, india. And regarding your
statement Anu "Behind every successful man there is women" i do not agree with this but yeah we
could work together then we could do better as compared to doing it alone.
Skills do not depend upon gender. I hardly disagree with those stating that women can be better
managers; or those stating the contrary. If one is dedicated towards his/her goals in life then there
is nothing standing the way between that person and his/her goals. Reaching your goals is also a
management in its own way. Women today are no far less off than men. Indra Nooyi, CEO of
Pepsico, Chanda Kochar, CEO of ICICI Bank - it clearly shows how good women with men by their
side.

Which will be the upcoming profession in coming

years…
Is money is sweeter than honey in today’s world..??
i am for of money.beacuse one have money means he has has honey and money.no money means
nohoney.beacuse in our competitive life honeys are now professional ,they think about future life so
who have money he is the power of buying honey
as per todays situation i think money is much sweeter than honey bcoz inflation rate is going higher
nd higher nd even 2 buy honey v need enough money 2 send so d person who has money has
everything
yes its a fact that money is sweeter than honey. If we dont have money we wouldnot able to buy
honey. Simply we cant live with out money. We need oxygen to survive in the world and we need
money to be in the world and to enjoy the world.

Flexi timings or fixed timings - which is better at work

1st of all wat flexi timing is? flexi-time means employess are free to adjust their work-timing.While
fixed timining are fixed 4 an individual. As in my views i believe Flexi times are more better because
it can reduce the abseentisim n labour turnover. If the job is fr 9hrs,any employee cn come at any
shift n perform their task of 9hr.It helps employee to do other works too timely.Nowadays every
organisation works in shifts jst to increase the productivity n to provide their employee flexiblity.
Besides its advantages, there are several problems also like UNDER OR OVER-LABOUR,lack of tools
at particular timing etc
hey friends just move your mind and think the situation in which you have to complete a task in a
given period. people arrive with two differnt situations one will come on office timings and will
complete task within the period and others will come on time of their choice(will also complete task)
but wat if regularity break. You cant judge different mind perceptions for the task. As per records
Army has done so far great for the country and they are pretty professionals towards their goal
achievement. They start their work with regularity and punctuality except for the war situations
where this regularity pay them extra(Body adjust according to your daily schedule). Adaptibility
increases with regularity with time i.e. morning to evening --------- working simultaneously with
natural changes

Skilled manpower shortage in India

This is Good Topic to discuss,I don't in India we have shortage of skilled manpower.Todays Lakhs of
fresh B.Tech holder and MBA holder are passing every year, they are spending their 4 and 2 year in
study these course.IT boom in our country shows that we are not lacking in skilled
manpower.Yes,the thing we can do that more Engineering and MBA colleged should open in remote
areas so that more people get skilled agree for the above, it doesn't matter how many students are
passing out, it matters how many qualify enough for the white color job that the leading mncs are
offering. In India, there is no shortage of manpower, i agree with that, but there certainly is
shortage of skilled and qualified man power.
i agree to the above statement really we had no.of students who are educated in their particular
discipline but the thing is lack of skill .even then we had highly skilled labour india stands forth
place in skilled labour but y the shortage occurerd because of some personal concepts of the
individual many migrate to other countries may be the lack of proper infrastructure, government
interventions, difference in currencies, these are few reasons which made shortage of skilled labour
in india.
i don't agree that we have shortage of skilled manpower, our economy improving rate is very high
comparatively to other developing countries.we are progressing in every sector like
'infrastructure, education system, defense, industrialization. in next three India is going to invest
4400000 crore rs in infrastructure..in top 10 Forbes billionaire list there are 4 Indians.enhancing
international trade making bilateral negotiation with every developed country is proving that we
don't have shortage of skilled people.there is lot of example about Indians achievement where they
are proving their capabilities whether vikram pandit (CEO of Citibank) or Lakshmi mittal (founder of
giant steel empire) or sunita Williams (scientist at NASA) or mukesh ambani (reliance industry)

Which is more important – value of the customer or

value to the customer?
Though both the attributes are important, however a combination of the two may differ at different
stages of customer relationship. We can summarize it in two stages from a business perspective:
Acquiring Customer - At this stage, what is more important is to provide value for money to the
customer. However, the customer should be provided with a reasonable amount of attention. Hence
at this stage the ratio between the two will be 60:40 (Value to the Customer : Value of the
customer) Retaining Customer - In the world of cut-throat competition, this stage is all the more
important. In order to retain existing customer, the business should make the customer feel special.
The business should understand individual preferences, specially in service industry. Still continuing
value to the customer is always a pre-requisite for a business to prosper. Hence at this stage the
ration would be 40:60.
i believe value to the customer is much more important than value of the customer. value of the
customer is a derivative of value to the customer. if a company provides superior value to its end
customer in terms of product quality, features, assortment, price and ease of access, the customer
tends to be delighted with the product/service and only when the customer is delighted, feels that
he gets the value for the money he spent and his perceived value is more than that of the expected
value of the product, the customer tends to be loyal to the product/company/brand. and only when
a customer is loyal to a brand, makes repeated purchases and spreads a positive word of mouth
about the brand the value of the customer increases because he gets the brand higher revenue in
terms of the purchases he makes and the new customers he brings in. this helps to create a long
term relationship between the brand and the consumer which will ultimately be beneficial to the
company as the company can cross sell its products and can sell the customer different assortment
of goods through bundling which will enable the brand to make maximum profits and will help the
brand turn down competitors attempt to attract its customers. ultimately its about profit and market
share.
