anchor installation method once the cabinet plinth is cast and in has cured to minimum
requirements.
i) Maximum use must be made of ready-mixed concrete, with strength of 25 Mpa after 28 days,
supplied by a reputable concrete supplier and delivered in agitator trucks. Whichever method of
mixing is used, the total delivered period must not exceed 3 hours.(See SANS 878 /SABS 878).
The Local Mixing Machine method can be adopted, with the RAN installation manager’s
approval, if ready mixed concrete is not available or the terrain is inaccessible for agitator
trucks.
j) Whilst pouring / placing the concrete, ensure even spread and proper flow of the concrete by
using vibrators or suitable rods/sticks to facilitate proper flow and filling to ensure no air-pockets
or holes are caused or appears in the walls or other parts of the plinth.
k) Where project timelines do not permit the required curing time of the concrete plinth, alternative
curing practices may be sought and implemented using civil engineered practices. These
practices may not be implemented if not approved and signed off by a registered civil engineer.
All practices must be guaranteed to provide the correct strength and grade of installation.
Alternative practice would be to deploy a precast plinth.
l) Once the concrete has set then the installation jig may be removed and the plinth neatened
and made ready for the installation of the cabinet (removal of excess cement and runoff)
m) The approved layout for the plinth is noted in Figures 11 and 12 for ARP cabinets and Figures
